My first Houston mock draft

Phil Kessel: Nice Guy. Tries Hard.
Okay, I have not really done this much so, tell me what you think.

Trade down with NYJ or somewhere around there to pick up their first this year, thier 2nd this yhear and their first next year. (is it possible?)

#4-DBrick, LT-No real explanation needed, the franchise LT Houston needs.

#33- Mercedes Lewis-Great TE who can catch and block. Hoefully he drops this far.
#36- Manny Lawson OR Elvis Dumerville, DE- Heres where the pass rush gets improved. Lawson is a freak and Dumerville is being compared to Dwight Freeney. Lawson probably wont drop this far.

#65- Mark Setterstrom, OG- More help with the line. Would be a perfect fit for the zone blocking scheme.

#66- Kai Parham, MLB- Linebacker with good speed and great reactions. Experience in the 3-4. Smart player who can read the offense

#97- B]Greg Eslinger, C[/B]- True center, will drop because of size. Once again, a perfect fit for the zone blocking scheme.

#129- Dwayne Slay, S- Ballhawk that can hit like none other. Coverage worries though.

#161- Roderkus Wright, DT- Dont know much about him, there was a previous thread all about him. Had some insane stats in Juco.

#193- Digger Anderson, MLB- Small school player, leads his team in tackles, sacks and picks. There is a google video on him. Great hands, if he does not work out as a LB maybe as a strong safety. Runs about a 4.6(from what I've read somewhere)

Okay, tear it up!

I like it... I just think that we could pass on Seterstrom... I would rather take a CB at that spot because if we draft Ferguson, he plays LT I think that we could move Pitts to RT that would move Wade inside to guard and then get Eslinger for center...thats if we dont sign Bentley of course... here is how I see the o-line.

Ferguson-Wade-Eslinger-Weigert-Pitts

I think that would be solid and we could pick up Buchanons replacement in the 3rd.

Like the draft. Wade is a flop. Pitts should move back to left guard his natural position, and the Saints Bentley will be an UFA. He could play RG and Wiegart playing RT. And why do we need a new CB, we already have 4 who can play. We need an OLB with the pick instead, hopefully Thomas Howard from UTEP will be there at 37.

Wade is a semi-flop. He is a great run blocker, but struggles at pass protection. Would be better served at RG. Pitts is more of a RT to me. He is a more developed Jon Scott IMO. Bently will be interesting, but he would play C for our team. Wiegart is no RT, he is a G only. He is a good pass protecting G I believe, so maybe in between Bently and Fergueson. OLB is one of our last needs. MLB is our LB need. We have no true LB on our team. Wong is the closest, but he is a OLB really. Thomas Howard will be there in the 3rd. He is quite a project at the least. He has gotten by lesser competion with his athletic ability alone.

Does he really need to be drafted? Maybe in the 7th round. I love this guy, but he is WAY under the radar. Did he even get a combine invite??

Wiegart played RT for us the last few games this year, when the offense actually scored a few points. Wong will play MLB, and plays it very well. Look at his stats in Minnesota. OLB is a way bigger need we only have Greenwood who can play it on the current roster and we'd be lucky if Howard was to fall to us in the 2nd round. And we could use the money wade is gonna get to Bentley or a FA saftey.

Wow what an outlook I will change it up mainly because there are some reaches on your part. First like the trade down no problems there, but I take
Mario WilliamsDE-bottomline is we need an anchor for the DLine and at 6'6" 285 he is the athletic freak we need. He will also do wonders for taking pressure away from Peek and Babin on the other side look what he did for Manny Lawson who is about as athletic as Peek.
Eric WinstonLT/RT- the kid is a complete package and unless he has a bad combine should be the second or third linemen off the board. He plays with the nastiest nature and is just as athletic when healthy as D'Brick
Nick MangoldC/G- Now i would be looking to trade down in the second in order to get this kid lower or organize a draft and trade that way we are sure we get our guy. He is nasty and makes Wiegert and McKinney not necessary roster spots
Jonathan JosephCB- Imagine a larger D-Rob with Gary Baxter type speed. Well that is him, he may not make it out of the 2nd with a good combine, but if he does he is first off the board in the 3rd.
Rocky McIntoshILB- the guy is talented, I know you are thinking what a reach, but he is climbing boards fast and his E/W Shrine game performance has him on the minds of many GMs, does not hurt that Vilma says he plays like him.
David ThomasTE-The guy is just an all around type of player in the mold of Dallas Clark and Chris Cooley. Take him and he plays well and makes the special team that much better
Maurice Stovall- think he will go ealy second day, but a boy can dream right. Tall, athletic player without much speed, but a redzone nightmare teamed with AJ.
Marcus MaxeyCB/FS- He is tall, athletic, and likes to hit. He can play CB, but he is the ballhawking safety I would be looking for, even though if Zematias falls to the third I would look at him and push the picks down. I would also take Reggie McNeal if he was around.
Digger Andersen or Chris Gocong- either small school guy is fine, it is a 7th rounder not expecting much.

You are 100% on target. Will be interesting to see how our first round selection (2005) does as a starter in 4-3.( I am assuming no pick up in free agency). I do think McKinney will rework his contract to pick up an extention. Front office will want to see how Hodgdon does so I do not expect a high profile signing @ center. As Pitts seemed to do Ok after returning to LT, he may be left there in new system. I think the picks will be Bush 2nd: best LT 3rd: best Dline and best corner avail. I do not agree we have four good CBs. We have one very good, one good Faggins, one ? in Buchannan 4th: best OL or receiver (if not addressed in free agency) and in 5th: a power back that can get 2 yards for a first down or across the goal up the middle.:twocents:

No team in the NFL has 4 starting quality CB's. Starting quality = good. Daunta had an off year, but I attribute most of that to fangio. If you consider Faggins even REMOTELY close to good, then you are mistaken. He is not "good." Buchanon is good, he has all the ability you want. CB is not a top priority for me. Basicly to sum that up: Daunta>Buchanon>Me>Faggins :)

I did not put a CB in there because I figured that in a different scheme, Pbuch could be good. He is a cover corner, he wont make tackles. I am interested as to what he will do this coming season.
