I always hate when I go to read a post and halfway through I find out its a thread about a subject im REALLY tired of reading. So, just to clarify beforehand.. this is a pro-bush thread that goes over some old arguments..and adds a few more things.
Last we heard.. Bush was 6'0" 208 pounds. Word is that he is going to put on a few more pounds before the combine.
I cant wait to see what he weighs in at.. and I hope he decides to run. if he weighs in at 215 and runs a 4.3.. he will have made solidified his status as the #1 overall pick.
Bush doesnt look like a beanpole. he looks to me like he has the frame to put on a few more pounds. I imagine that he really had no need to put on any more weight in college. They had White to run it up the gut.. they needed Bush to be fast and agile, he didnt need to worry about power. Now that he is going into the pros, he needs that extra weight, and I dont see it slowing him down.
Sure he may lose .1 off his 40 time(if that).. but he will still have home run speed. And the extra power will serve him well I would think.
I know everyone mentions this when we talk about Bush, but people are always talking about how Bush cant handle an NFL workload.. hes not a workhorse.. he isnt big enough... well just to clear that up....
Shaun Alexander has 370 carries this season (23 per game)
Tiki Barber has 357 carries this season (22 per game)
Corey Dillon has 209 over 12 games (17 per game)
Marshall Faulk in 2001 (his last big year) had 260 carries over 14 games (18 per game)
Edge has 360 over 15 games (24 per game)
Larry Johnson 336 (21 per game)
Curtis Martin last year had 371 (23 per game)
Cadillac Williams has 219 over 14 games (20 per game)
LT has 339 (21 per game)
None of the backs in this league average even 25 carries a game. Even the guys in the heavy run oriented offenses only average 20-23. Bush averaged 15 carries a game (btw.. White averaged 14 :P).. I see no reason why he couldnt take 5-7 more carries..especially with 10-15 more pounds on him.
Notice that the guy with the MOST carries per game up there, Edge, is 6'0" 214 pounds. Curtis Martin who averaged 23 last year is 5'11" 210. Tiki is 5'10" 200. Basicly.. Bush as a workhorse back is NOT far fetched.
Im still in the Bush or Trade Down camp.. its just getting harder and harder to deny Bush's potential to be a superstar in this league, the more I read about him.
