What can we get for DD?

Tex-fan0604

There's all this talk about trading D.Carr but I think we could be better off without DD because he always gets hurt by the middle of the season and isnt that reliable to play a complete season. My question is what can we get for him if we trade him?:deadhorse

I dont see us trading him. Whether we take Bush or not, we are not going to get rid of a talented player who we still may need. We will find a way to keep them both without hurting our cap.

Maybe in a couple of seasons... if Bush proves that he can handle being a workhorse back. but for now we will keep him to share carries and provide depth and versatility to the offense.

Probably nothing give your evaulation of his stamina. I happen to see him more valuable than your statement would suggest. Valubale enough where we keep him and his 1,000 yards and 50+ ctaches per season. If Carr and the Oline gets better we can expect more production out of DD due to the offense being elevated and mixing in Morency more often.

Right now I say that we could prolly get a 3rd rounder for him.. but we wouldnt trade him because of the cap hit that we would take.

we'll prolly keep him around while Bush gets a feel for the NFL speed/physical stress and then we'll trade him away when we can take less of a cap hit.. prolly 2 years from now..

Being that Kubiak is from Denver and they feature a nuber of backs, I dont see Dominick Davis being traded either. Theres to much talent here, you guys could have the one two punch that Denver has in Mike Anderson And Tatum Bell.
However I wouldnt be surprised to see DD traded to Denver for MA or Tatum Bell.

Even if we draft Bush im for keeping DD, Wells, and Morency. Cut Hollings.

All three of these guys are useful contributors to the team.

Davis has very little trade value, and its made worse by some pretty hefty
cap numbers he's saddled with.
What's interesting is how some teams will pay dearly for RBs coming right out of college (for example, 3 of top 5 in last years draft were RBs), but relatively little for highly rated RBs in the league after they get several seasons under their belt.
Clinton Portis did command considerable value for the Broncos when they traded him, but he was in the league only 2 years. Better examples would be more seasoned RBs like Shawn Alexander and Edgeran James whos teams got modest offers in draft picks when they were shopped around for trading purposes. Because of the cumulative beating all running backs take over the years, and the drop off in their most valuable attributes(foot speed and quickness) as they approach 30, they lose trade value rapidly.

If we draft Reggie Bush, more than likely, we'll be letting Wells go. I think he is a free agent.... won't cost us anything to let him go. We won't get anything for him, except a spot on the roster for Reggie.

I do believe there are a number of backs that got hurt their first few years out of college. Even Ricky Williams, who never got hurt @ Texas, even though he carried the ball as often as he did. There are two things to look at. #1 is the players conditioning. Games are a little tougher at the pro level, and the guys hitting you are a lot bigger. #2 is your offensive line. The Tail Back, is not supposed to be getting tackled by defensive tackles and ends. If that is happening, expect your boy to get hurt.

hmm..if we know that dominick gets hurt.....nah...the other teams would have no way of knowing that!! sure let's trade DD...we'll get a first or second for sure!! espescially since the colts couldn't get a 1st or second for edge

DON"T GET RID OF CARR!!!:brickwall :deadhorse This guy has plenty off talent but needs an o-line. Mayb we can pick up Jon Runyan or Steve Hutchinson on FA 2 help him and get some1 in the draft 2 help carr. Also, mayb 2 help r Defense we can get Kyle Van Bosch 2 put preasure on the QB :homer:

GO TEXANS!!!!! :fans:

Jon Runyan is at the very end of his career. No way do I want him. Hutchinson, however, would be great assuming he fits into the Kubiak system.

I would put Hutchinson and Bentley out of your mind. We wont be getting either of them.

Hutchinson most likely wont be leaving seattle..and if he DOES leave seattle..it isnt going to be for the worst line in the league and the worst team in the league (statistically).

Bentley is leaving New Orleans and is probably the most desired lineman in FA this offseason. We will definatly NOT be the only team trying to get him.. and I seriously doubt, again, that he is going to want to come to the worst line/team in the league.

Simply put.. in order for us to get either of these guys.. we will have to offer them a contract that is absolutely too good to pass up.. and I dont see us having the money to do that. If we dont put up an amazing paycheck.. there is no way we would convince them to come here.

People have questioned Bush's ability to run inside and pointed out that Lendale White did all of that at USC. Well, DD and Wells are our Lendale White. Kubiak wants to establish the run, but Bush AND DD give you a dynamic rushing attack. Being able to line up Bush at WR cinches that decision. They can be on the field at the same time on third down which would give Carr two quality recievers in addition to Johnson and whatever tight end gets brought in.

This is nonsense. We know what DD can do. We don't know what R. Bush can do. Besides, the top pick probably has a lot more trade value than DD. The logical move would be to trade the pick and get help where you really need it. But seeing so much evidence of brain spasms in the Texans front office recently, they probably won't make the smart move.

There is no way we should trade DD. The only reason he has had as many injuries as he had is because he is over-used. Even with the injuries he managed 1000 yard season his first two years, and almost again this year! Not to mention his REC yards. What we really need is another back for him to split carries with, maybe it could be Morency, or maybe we draft D'Angelo Williams, or R. Bush. But another solid complimentary back would help keep DD in the 15-20 carries per game range, I think he will be much more durable when not overused.

And there is the "small" matter of our lack of Passing attack. We need to be more balanced on offense and that will elevate the run game as well. With Kubes coaching Carr, and better pass protection and passing attack, and get another RB involved to split more carries with DD, it could be just what the Dr. ordered. :redtowel:
