Capers lands in Miami

The Miami Dolphins are expected to name former Houston Texans head coach Dom Capers as their new defensive coordinator, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported.

Richard Smith and Will Muschamp essentially served as the unit's co-coordinators in 2005. Smith had the title of defensive coordinator, while Muschamp's title Assistant Head Coach/Defense. .....................

Good. Dom is doing exactly what he is ment to do, and much like Buddy Ryan should never bbbe a head coach again.:twocents:
 
Houston plays Miami next year. his 3-4 ought to look a lot better than ours was.
 
Congrats to Dom! This is what he should be doing. He is not a good HC, but has always had very good agressive D's when he has been a DC.
 
Good for Dom! :thumbup I never wished anything bad to happen on him. We just needed a new regime change around here.

That Miami game should be interesting!
 
Good to hear. Dom is where he should be (DC). So many of the retreads are not being picked up this off season, good to see he has found his niche in Miami. :)
 
I didn't think anyone in the NFL would want him after this fiasco, but I think he'll be a really good DC once again.

He is on the HC treadmill in a few years he will be asked to be a HC again.

I expect Coach Capers will be warmly welcomed back to Reliant. I know people were screaming for his head but I also know that almost every fan knows he is a fine person and it just didn't work out here for whatever reason. Sometimes that happens.

The Dolphins defense won't be a pushover I'll bet.
 
I'm glad DC found a coaching job elsewhere even if it is with Team Ricky. Best of luck to him out in Miami. They should be a tough team next year.

Recently dismissed as the Texans' head coach, Capers posted an 18-46 record in four seasons (2002-05), including a league-worst 2-14 mark this year. He was 31-35 in four seasons (1995-98) with the Carolina Panthers, and Capers was the first head coach in the history of both teams."
 
Good luck to Dom and the Dolphins. Should be a rather good fit at a guess. As long as he isn't too hard on us next year when they come to visit!
 
Yesterday, I heard that Dom Capers was named DC for the Miami Dolphins. Checked Miami's website today and there is not one mention of Dom. Did the media jump the gun on getting the news out? Any thruth to Dom's new position? Best of luck to Dom where ever he ends up.
 
They are going to announce it eventually. I think Mortenson reported either yesteday or Sunday that the Dolphins were going to have Capers as their DC.
 
Is Miami definitely switching to the 3-4? Capers coached a 4-3 defense with the Jags. He might be doing the same with Miami.

Miami was doing a lot of the mixed 4-3 and 3-4 looks this year with Taylor standing up I believe.

Jason Cole, of the Miami Herald, reports newly signed assistant coach Dom Capers' authority with the Miami Dolphins doesn't appear to be significant, given his contract. Capers signed a one-year deal with the Dolphins - an indication that he would like to seek a different NFL position a year from now if one becomes available.
 
If Capers had all these DC job offers, why would he take a lowly job with Miami and not be in charge of anything? Did he really get all those offers?

I'm sure it would have been very crowded with Smith, Muschamp, and Capers along with the position coaches there on Defense. Should be interesting to see what Capers does with the D. I hope he does well, until they play us.
