Do you think the team is losing its fa base (small as it was)?
I have a ton of Texan gear but haven't purchased anything in at least a year.
Truth be told o haven't even gotten it out of storage this year (except the one JJ Watt jersey).
I used to look down on bandwagon fans. I now envy them. They're the smart ones. Don't give a crap until the team demonstrates success and then join the revelry.
I'm sure it would be "great" to be able to say "I stuck through them even throughout the crappy years" but the joy Id gain from that doesn't offset the huge time/money drain this team in its current form amounts to
I don't think that they are losing their fan base, but they are losing a lot of what makes a fan base strong, and that is the hardcore fans' unbridled support. People can only take so much of their time wasted and so many of their weekend afternoon's sidetracked by depressing foolishness. I do think we are reaching a tipping point where even the hardcore fans are throwing up their hands in disgust. At some point, people will find other things to do with their time if this franchise doesn't change.
I'm like most people on this board. I watched every game that I was physically able to for 13 years. If I couldn't watch the game for whatever reason, I recorded it or found a way to watch it later. I planned outings with friends and the wife around Texans games. If we could make an outing work where it didn't interfere with me watching the Texans, I made sure that we did it that way. Sometimes that's difficult and not to the liking of my wife, but the Texans are important to me. It's not always easy watching a team that isn't local. If you can't get DirectTV, or don't want to shell out the money, you have to go to a bar to watch the game, every Sunday. There's not always people willing to go either. Sometimes, you have to go alone if you want to watch your team. When they play as poorly as they have in that situation, it does feel like a chore to watch the team, as htownfan said. I used to take pride in the fact that I had seen every possession of this franchise. That pride turned more into a sense of duty a few years ago. As if I had to watch, because I had invested so much time into the team. But now, I laugh at that thought. There's nothing special about watching every possession of a franchise that is almost always drowning in their poor decisions/leadership.
