Vince Young= Andre Ware

I love Vince Young.. I wish him all the best no matter where he goes, he has the potential talent to be a great QB in the league someday; but I do wish our team had the time to develop him; but they don't. Sorry Vince; it's great knowing you as a Texas sports legend; Your rein in Texas has come to an end, as I see you being drafted by the Titans or a draft day trade to the cardinals. You would always look up to Reggie Bush as the Big brother; You leave the great state of Texas in his hands, as well the Great City of Houston. Trust in him as he is a well coached, well raised, and well spoken young man; (Baby!).Thanks to Lendal White, for not gaining those 2 yards on 4th down. If he didn't spent all of his energy celebrating his 3 touchdowns jumping all up and down doing the wop; he may had something left in the tank to seal the deal. Thanks again, and I'll truly be a fan of yours and root you on, only till you play my beloved Teaxns! HOOK-EM! GO PREZ! :homer:

VY=Andre Ware???!!!

You're kidding me right? What did you do? Pick one of the only home-town heroes in H-Town that wasn't successful?

Saying VY is anything like Andre Ware is utterly ridiculous! Their games and style of play is not the same and Ware had nowhere near the athletic ability that VY has. In fact, most analysis of VY so far states that there has never been a quarterback like him to enter the draft. There have been some that have had his passing ability (some a lot better); there have been some that have had his athletic ability. But never one player at his position that possessed his abilities as a package. That is why he is the only QB in the history of the NCAA to throw for 3,000+ and run for 1,000+ in a season. The unknown is what makes him a high-risk pick (b/c there has never been someone like him at QB). That is also why he is such a high-reward pick. With that in mind:

VY=VY
Bush= Brian Westbrook
L.White=Corey Dillon/L.Johnson

If we MUST take a RB, I would rather go with White. I think he is a better prospect than Bush, even though Bush was the more electric in college.

IMO it's too early to call Young the next hall of fame QB or next Andre Ware...The guy hasn't stepped foot onto an NFL field and I have already heard him called both.

At Best:
VY = Randall Cunningham
Bush= Marshal Faulk, Barry Sanders, Tony Dorsett
L. White = Jerome Bettis

Vince Young is the biggest risk. Period. Not saying he is bad, but he is the biggest risk. I think VY would be worth taking with the 3rd pick in this draft.
L. White does not have enough talent to be a top 10 pick. He will be a good player but there are at least 10 players in this draft that have a lot more upside than him.

Being that you are in Austin you probably didn't get to see very many USC games. I watched almost everyone of them. If you think L. White is the better pro prospect then you just watched the Rose Bowl. Reggie Bush is hands down the best player on that team. In fact he averaged almost 2 yards per carry all season behind the same O-line as L. White. If you look at the stats(other than the Short TD runs), Bush even had a better game than L. White at the Rose Bowl.

L. White and Reggie Bush will both do great in the NFL. A bad injury is the biggest risk with taking either.

The same injury threat goes for Vince Young too. He has that upright running style, that makes him GREAT but might get him killed in the NFL. Plus unlike Leinart who isn't super mobile and is just a great pocket passer, any injury to Vince Young that slows him down, or prevents him from being the runner that he currently is, will make him much much less effective. One of the main reasons Vince Young has done so well in the passing game is because the fear of him running opens up recievers and forces thems to have to cheat the run, or have a player "Spy" him which takes a guy our of coverage.

I really shouldn't respond to this thread because the premise of the header is silly on its face.

Unless you really mean that you believe that VY will be a bust like Ware, and actually have reasons to back that up, because Ware and VY's game are nothing the same, and physically Ware and VY are not the same other than that they have more melanin than some.

Personally, I have not found a good comparison to VY because I have never seen a player with his combination of skills and size.

That being said, Andre Ware's NFL career can be instructive. It could be said that Ware was just a systems QB, and that he would not have the chance to succeed because he was not NFL sized for a QB -6'2"/205.

IIRC, Detroit jacked him with his contract situation and he didn't get signed immediately. QBs take time to develop and with that bad start to his first season, he mighta just never got on track. I'm not saying he woulda had a stand out NFL career, but rather there are few players that are SOOO good that they can deal with the issues that bad teams face. Which is I guess what you are sorta saying with your silly titled thread. (Personally, I think VY is one of the few who could make us way better but you never know, and there is a risk to do that).

Wow....

Kubiak+DD+Wells+Morency=2200 yrds.17TDs.9-10 wins.
Kubiak+RB+DD+Morency= 2400 yrds.24TDs.9-10wins.

We spend the #1 overall, basically for nothing. The only question mark, is David Carr. We can Draft Vince, and sit him on the bench, and the way I see things, it'll be equivalent to drafting Reggie, letting Wells go, and not increasing Morencies carries. Except, if David isn't who we thought he was, we have a real contingency plan.

Why do you guys continually try to compare players to players that they are nothing like. Why is he like Andre Ware... isnt this like the 31454698476248678th post that starts VY=. Just shut up because if you really know your stuff that\n you would know that no QB in NCAA history has ever passed for 3000 yards, rushed for 1000, and had the top passer rating in the nation... how can you compare him to anyone, thats just stupid.:listening

I do not know what Vince Young or Reggie Bush are going to be in the NFL. Likely both will be relatively successful. I am not in favor drafting VY because his value does not exceed that of David Carr + Bush/D'Brick/Mario Williams. You have to look at overall value. We do not know what any of these guys are going to do, if we did their would not be huge busts every year.

How about Vince Young + trade David Carr for draft pick or player?

Starting tonight, Vince Young will be replacing Kiefer Sutherland in the role of Jack Bauer on "24". Shortly thereafter, he will lead CTU to a National Championship.
