Saints, Titans Fans Take on VY

This is a quote from the New orleans Boaed" I don't know what the "VY" hype is about. First off, in the Rose Bowl, they were playing a USC defense which wasn't that great. USC LB's played very poorly in my opinion. The TE for texas was wide open all the time and most of VY's receptions were high percentage pass3es. In the second half of the game he didn't fair as well against USC's defense passing-wise. He had to do alot more running as was apparent with his 200 yards rushing and 3 TD's. VY isn't that fast really, and in the NFL, everyone runs as fast as him. He also won't have 5-6 seconds in the pocket to look over a defense before he decides to run the ball, he'll have more like 2 tops before he's sacked, throws an INT, tries to run for his life, etc. AND in the NFL, you have the cream of former college crop playing against you, not USC's defense. Tho his passing has become better over the last two years, and from the beginning of this season to the end, he's still no where near that great of a passer to succeed at the NFL level as many of you are hyping him up as. VY is more of an athlete than a passer, and not nearly as good an athlete as Michael Vick is, and we've seen how many Championships Vick has won so far. I think Leinert is more NFL ready as he's come from playing in an NFL style offense at USC, but I'm still for trading down for more draft picks and taking A.J. Hawk with our first and hopefully Jay Cutler with our second.
Re: Vince Young, no thanks"

Sounds to me like they are not impressed with his native Houstonian status that some on this board seem to feel is a qualification to the Texans drafting him. Everything this guy wrote is true. VY has a lot to learn befor becoming any teams starting QB

I also think a reason Saints fans don't like Young is because they have been tortured by Brooks. A scrambling QB who has an arm but makes stupid decisions. Although VY is a pass first QB people see him as fast and therefore a scrambler. They probably want to try a pocket QB with those WRs.

The Titans fans are probably easier on VY because they succeeded with their "scrambling" QB, McNair.

WOW! That revelation from a N3w Orl3ans board has totally changed my mind.

"succeeded" is a relative term :).. never won a superbowl.

And for all their success.. Titan fans want Bush more than Young.. even though Young is McNairs shadow.

Amen. If I had to choose between the two: RB or VY I would go with RB but only to trade DOWN!!!!!!:homer:

After watching the rose bowl, I think that VY is a good player, but not a good QB. Look at how other QB's faireed against USC this year (Fresno State). I think he would be a good choice as a draft pick, but not in the 1st round, and certainly not a 1st pick.

I would count McNairas sucessful compared to most QB's and his expectations.

Id agree that McNair was a successful QB.. but its a relative term.. in terms of wins and keeping his team in contention.. he was successful. In terms of winning a championship.. he failed.

in winning championships.. yes he was.

We DO want to win a superbowl dont we? I dunno about you but im tired of the Cowboys and their ego :)..I want to win a superbowl.

Relative:

1. Considered in comparison with something else: the relative quiet of the suburbs.
2. Dependent on or interconnected with something else; not absolute

Roseanne Barr is relatively skinny, compared to a sumo wrestler

Faranheit 911 is relatively good entertainment, compared to nails on a chalkboad

The media is a relatively good source of information, compared to banging your head against the wall.

McNair and Marino are relatively good QBs, compared to all the QBs who havent won championships.

McNair and Marino are not so good, compared to the likes of QBs like Montana, Elway, Young, Aikman, and Brady.

We need the other Fresno guy: Trent Dilfer!!!

VY showed leadership, desire to win, comeback guts, and the will to get it done.

RB showed lack of poise, comeback guts and the will to get it done. After his fumble he became a mind game within himself. He lost the mind game.

the Fresno Qb threw 5 interceptions, bad example.

all this talk about Young not being ready for the NFL is garbage. Every time someone said "Vince Young is not good enough", or "He's not a consistent passer", he has rose to the occasion and proved them wrong. Young will adjust to the NFL style of play, and become a star QB. The Texans would be foolish not to take Young, because as I witnessed in the Rose Bowl, Reggie Bush can be contained, and Leinart gets flustered easily. Vince Young has the ability to adjust and overcome pressure, and can take over a game at any time.

My opinion on that subject is those who say that didn't see too many of his games. Vince played lights out in the Rosebowl, but save for teh aTm game, he played like that in pretty much every game this year. tOSU, OSU, Kansas, CO x2, TxTech, OU, etc...

I think another contributing factor is that Vince is from Houston and went to UT. If Vince was from Florida and he had gone to U of Miami and put up the same kind of performance for the U rather than UT, do any of you honestly think that so many people in Houston would be making this much noise for him?

What if you were living in Jacksonville and were a Jags fan. Then you probably wouldn't post on these MB's and so many people here in Houston wouldn't be subjected to your posts.

well i just played NCAA 2006 and i created a player named Vince Bush..he dominated..i think we should draft him

TRADE DOWN WE NEED HELP!!!!!

We are just waiting to see who is left at the 3rd pick.......I think we will pick one of the QB's if they are still on the board, but I would not be surprised if we trade down if it is Bush.

If only it worked like that in real life. I had a draft pick on Madden one time named Marquez Bean that was a 6-3, 225 lbs. CB with 99 speed, agility, and acceleration, 72 strength, 78 catching, and 70 tackling, and he could return kicks. He was legitimately the best player I've ever seen, and he required a 6 year, $72 million deal as the #1 pick, but he was well worth it.
