Joppru

kra-z Texan

Waterboy
Has anyone heard if he has recovered from his injury and will be ready for training camp, or do you just feel that he is a lost cause?

This guy is literally made of glass. Wait, not glass, something more fragile than glass. He has always been ready for TC, and has never made it past that. I think that 3 years of missing playing time = lost cause

I hear once a year Santa Claus, the tooth fairy, mermaid, and Bennie Joppru all ride Unicorns to the emerald city to sit at King Arthur's round table.

at least thats why my daddy told me long long ago.

I remember somebody posted a really good article about Joppru a couple weeks back. I hope he recovers and has a chance to show what he's capable of. His and the Kellen Winslow situation are eerily similar.

Joppru has always been ready to go INTO training camp. It's coming out, ready to play, that has been his problem. This guy has spent 3 years already on the roster and hasn't played a single down in a real game. The real question is when are we going to get tired of paying him to sit at home during the regular season playing Madden football and collecting a paycheck for being on the IR list?

Ouch! Each time, Bennie got hurt playing or training for football. The second time Winslow did himself in.

Winslow makes millions of dollars more than Joppru, but Winslow does have 5 catches for 40 yards.

If If If Benny can play this year, that's like another second round pick for us.

Good luck to Joppru. I'm not sure if he can be all we hoped him to be after being out of football and in recovery for three years. He is an X factor, though, and one of the reasons I think the Texans could be a big surprise next year. There are too many x factors with this team: Bush/Young, new coaching, new players. Nobody will know what to expect of the Texans next year.

To answer the original question, he's ready to give it his best shot in training camp. He's healed now and will definitely be ready then. Keep your fingers crossed - he could be a real shot in the arm if he gets a little good luck for a change.

Joppru did not have a history of injury problems when we drafted him. So unless you expect Cass to see into the future and predict fluke injuries, this is NOT a reason to fire Casserly. There are plenty of reasons to do so already, so don't water them down with statements like this.

As to his outlook - it doesn't really cost the team much to keep him around. I think this might be the final year of his contract and from what I understand, he has already been paid the majority of his contract (guaranteed money early in the deal). I could be wrong there - maybe one of our resident capologists can detail it for us. At any rate, for the risk, the reward can really be nothing but neutral or positive at this point.

This year is all he's got left, IMO. He's got to prove himself as a player on the field, as well as prove that he's not just a walking injury report. Hope he can pull it off, because we need a TE desperately.

if a bennie joppru falls in the woods and nobody is there to see it, does he get hurt anyway?

I hope Joppru can recover and get some good luck. He was ranked the second or third best TE coming out in the draft - his route running skils were consider better than Jason Whitten (the number rated TE in the draft and current pro bowler). Joppru could save us a draft pick this year, probably will happen considering Rivers is a serviceable #2 pass catching TE if he goes down again.

I heard Joppru was sighted outside the practice facility last week, we have footage that proves it

hehe, this board is cracking me up these days.

In regards to Joppru, last year on his contract, if he (god forbit it) gets hurt again this year, he'll be gone next year. Let's hope he'll stay healthy and bring some skill to the TE position.

I heard that he has been slowing beating his right tibia to make sure it breaks on the first contact this spring.

I also heard that he has been dressing as Toro for the last three seasons.

One of these may not be true.....

Bennie has been working hard to rehab his injuries. The trainers think its finally time for him to show up

Winslow earned his 2nd season ender with a bone head mistake. Joppru has has some tough breaks.

I feel bad for Joppru but if we don't select a TE on day 1 I'll be ticked, especially after another preseason, season ending injury. Too many stud TE's coming out this year to pass up on.

Another thing to consider is, how durable will he be even if he makes it through an entire camp? There's still 16 games to be played after that.

Joppru (Job U) = Another good reason to FIRE Casserly! :challenge

You can blame CC for a lot...Buchcanon, Babin, No O'line, but I don't think it would be fair to blame him on someone getting hurt...Try and be at least a little objective...

The sad thing is, all logic points to Joppru being a bust and his career ending before its started. I would say that its something of a crapshoot whether a college player lives up to their "potential" or not given ideal situations. Joppru hasn't played in a real game for over 3 years. If you quit your job for 3 years, and then came back, it would take a LONG time to catch up. Whether or not he's healthy, it would take a LOT of hard work for him to even get back to his rookie form, let alone be a help to us on offense
