Casserly MAY not be all that dumb

By announcing that we won't take a QB, something that some have squacked about, he MAY be looking at trying to get a team that needs a QB, but isn't in the top 3 to make a move. NO and the Titanics will feel they can just sit and one of the QBs will fall to them and all the teams below are screwed that need a QB because neither of them would be willing to trade out, so, who is it then that the team to work a trade with???. Could it be the Texans.......well by golly, it just might be. If they are willing and needy enough to trade up to the 1st pick, it will bring a LOT of value with it. Basically the same for Bush, but the teams know we are considering him, so they need to deal with us there also. This just MIGHT be the strategy...who knows.

I agree, Casserly is not going to reveal who were going to draft months before the draft. Casserly, will say what he has to say to get the most interest from teams looking to make a deal. Our number one pick just got alot more value. We could easily draft either bush, young, or get alot of extra pics in a trade. Just don't let Young drop to Tennessee. This is going to get real interesting as we get closer to the draft. I will not believe anything I read until the day of the draft. Alot of players will be looked at and at the end of the draft we will have a much better team.

This is Charlie "Riverboat Gambler" Casserly we are talking about here .... You may be giving him far too much credit . (Just remember the PBurnt and Babin deals) :twocents:

I think that's the point. We never know what Casserly is thinking. Who had any idea that we were gonna get Babin and Buchanon? It came out of nowhere.

If you want to delude yourselves into believing that Casserly has no clue what's going on, and is dumber than a box of rocks, go ahead and think that Bob McNair is a box of rocks also.

I'm sure it will make you feel much better.

No way is Casserly the lame-o most people here have painted him as.

McNair's not going to cut Capers loose and keep Casserly for no good reason. Maybe Casserly got some of his chain slack tightened especially after the Buchanon debacle, but he's got one more season to prove he's fit.

And I don't think we could trade past the No. 3 or No. 4 spot and still get what we want (Bush as someone said). No, to me we're just acting as if some team will need to give us the farm for Young or Bush...and in the meantime while other NFL teams sweat it out wondering if we're for real or not, we'll be analyzing film and scouting reports on both Bush and Young to determine which one we take first. It's down to Young and Bush and I think it's neck-andneck on which one to pick.

I would love to see us trade and get an OL like 'Brick at No. 4...but now that I see what I think is classic draft foolery, the less I think it'll happen and the more I really believe that Casserly and McNair (and the new head coach, don't forget about him) will keep the No. 1 and go for either Young or Bush.

IMO, when all is said and done......Reggie is a Texan. I think we will look at trade downs, but in the end take Reggie.

What has Casserly ever done in his career to prove he is a good GM? BTW, he didn't build that Redskin Super Bowl team, he inherited it. I have posted more than once his draft record in Washington. His win/loss record in Washington is real bad. Has he done anything here to show us he learned from all his mistakes in Washington? Casserly probably still has his job only because there isn't any decent GM types available.

BTW, Casserly just MAY be that dumb. Don't sell him short or make me break back out my Dumb and Dumberer avatar. :)

If we say we're not taking a Quarterback, then our pick isn't any more valuable today, than it was before the RoseBowl. The only way this boosts the value of the number one pick, is for a team that really wants Bush. If someone wants Vince or Lienart, then we just made the number two more valuable. If Casserly is telling the truth, and we aren't interested in a QB, then you don't have to worry about that pick.

And if you're sold on Bush, you best hope the Titans come with their #3. Or is that what you meant to say when you said
Could it be the Texans.......well by golly, it just might be.

That's crazy talk. This board is full of decent GM types.

Remember that Casserly was the one that made the trade with Ditka and the Saints for several picks for Ricky Williams. Those picks indirectly and directly led them to getting Champ Bailey, Chris Samuels and LaVar Arrington. He is definitely a gambler and so far it seems like he is on the losing end of the ledger in Houston so far, but he can make some bold moves that pan out at times. My biggest knock on him is that he gambles a bit too much for my liking. He is the exact opposite of the former GM for the Giants (believe his name was Young) that almost never traded a pick and went with the safe choice.

And I just may break out my Jerome Mathis - All Pro avatar. :)

Remember that Ditka was the bonehead who, months before the draft, said he would be willing to trade his entire draft for Ricky. Charlie and his 6-10 Skins just happened to be sitting in the right spot to trade down with the Saints (who were sitting at #13) after the Colts took Edge. That trade was not due to the brilliance of Casserly (as he continually tries to remind radio listeners), it was due to the stupidity of Ditka who initiated the thing in the first place. I guess you could give Charley credit for picking up the phone and asking him if he was serious.

I had written somewhere yesterday or the day before about Casserly getting his wings clipped in more ways that we know. Richard Justice has a column in the paper today - haven't seen it online yet - that's all over that assertion....

A steep lack of production year over year, in my estimation does not reside at a high level such as Cass. We had three consecutive winning seasons and them plummeted. For that to happen it is a grassroots thing where the players just did not believe in the staff and consequently the season went south quick. That is why the staff is gone and Cass remains. I have my complaints with Cass as a Texan and historically speaking with the Redskins, but I am not ready to commute the death sentence. I like the fact of him and Reeves as a tandem at this moment with so many pending changes on the table.

Unless Cass took your SAT test and failed miserably, to go out and call the guy dumb, well its just plain ignorant. Let's keep it more professional. If you have problems with his moves then lay them out and give us what you would have done. Unfortunate as it may be for some of us, Cass is still one of us.

I could be way wrong on this...

Even though we are the newest team in the NFL, I don't think we are the youngest. I think Dallas had like 44 new players I think on a 52 man roster. There are so many new faces on other teams. I'd bet we're middle of the road when it comes to tenor on a team. my point, we can't give Casserly a pass on the talent level of this team.

I'm really excited with our recievers, I do like our quarterback. I love all our running backs, and I thought we had a Tight End Billy Miller(what happened to him). I like Babin, I like Pitts, I like/liked peek. Love Dunta...... I really don't understand how this team is 2-14.
