ESPN: Kubiak could hire Texas QB coach

This comes from Len Pasquarelli's Morning After on espn.com:

"If he lands the Houston head coach job, Gary Kubiak may attempt to hire current Cleveland offensive line coach Jeff Davidson as his offensive coordinator. And he might also consider University of Texas offensive coordinator Greg Davis for the position of quarterbacks coach."

Just thought it was interesting. (If it's already been posted, my bad.)

I had heard Shanahan ok'd him to take some of their coaches with to the Texans, including the OLine coach, I think the WR coach, and I don't remember exactly who else, so those would be options for position/coordinator coaches too.

No, good post. I found this article that says something similar...

The Texans seem to be moving toward hiring Gary Kubiak as head coach and Jerry Gray as defensive coordinator. There are whispers Texas assistant Greg Davis will come in some capacity.

Would Jerry Gray switch teams just to stay as a coordinator?

I dunno if they would lean toward him but there would be one big supporter of him in our coaching ranks i imagine...so its possible that, even if they dont necessarily want young right now, it increases the chances that they could be talked into it. Especially if Bush doesnt declare.

Nooooooo! Greg Davis has no place on this team

The only O Co-ordinator on the planet worse than Pendry. What does he know about coaching an NFL quarterback. I doubt he contributed much to Young.
Guess if you are going to screw up the team by bringing in Young you might as well make it complete and bring in Davis. You think it hurts to watch the Texans now, it would be worse. I couldn't watch.
Then again, I can survive without pro football. I'd still have my Irish.

Funny how all this comes about now after repeatedly saying we are going for Reggie Bush and Vince Young declares so fast.

UT needs to make a statue of Greg Davis that says "To the flats."

I've never seen anyone call more flat passes than that guy.

Please, no Greg Davis.

I thought this last year because Greg Davis was basically a Chris Palmer clone but Vince mentioned that they basically run the same offense as the Indy Colts. Don't we want that?? Besides I don't think Davis would have full hold on the offense. I am sure Kubiak would have more say and be more willing to overrule.

Just like Shanahan has over Kubiak now...

Bush is announcing his decision tomorrow.

If his agent told Bob Glauber that he will be announcing his decision. I don't think that he is coming back to USC.

Bob Glauber reported it on Cold Pizza.

But I guess since he along with everyone else except John McClain, Richard Justice, and Skip Bayless can't be trusted then we shouldn't believe it.

Wow...Now the horns are the Indy Colts and VY is Manning.
This is getting better and better....

You really should take everything you hear with a grain of salt.....everyone in the history of reporting has been wrong at times.

Don't mention UT and Vince in the same sentence as the Colts and Manning until the Colts actually win something. How insulting. :)

I DON'T THINK SO!!!!!!

Remember firegregdavis.com, the spread that UT runs is nowhere near the same offense that Indy runs. You really think that Vince hits the line with 2-4 plays ready and makes the call based off what he sees, without the coaches input? If you do I got a nice bridge I wanna sell ya. The only choices VY made where to whom he was going to throw it ( a decsicion all QBs have to make) and if he was going ot pitch teh ball of keep it on the option read plays. That's all.

And don't mention Vince in the same sentence as Peyton Manning until he wins NFL MVP. :)

I don't think the NFL will allow it unless he is fired.

I was under the impression that his contract was up and he could go wherever he wished. I need to check that out.

I don't think his contract is up. I think some believe that Mike Mularkey might get fired. But that has yet to happen.

I don't see Greg Davis coming here for only a QB coach job. He and Mack have been together for a long time. Mack kept him when everyone wanted him fired. I bet he stays loyal to Mack now.

What about Jeff Davidson? Gary Kubiak would be a first time head coach, and Davidson would be a first time OC. Anyone have thoughts on that?

I would think that Gary Kubiak would bring over Steve Watson and Dennison to the Texans they are the WR and OL coach respectively. He would also look for a guy that has been successful as a DC and may have HC experience to be the DC. He will be looking for someone he can really turn the Defense over to and feel comfortable with that. Eventhough I would like to see Mike Singletary as DC he would be gone in 2-3 years with any success so we should look for someone with more experience. Hoke would likely be retained and Marciano may find a spot. Mike London is likely going to stay, but the rest are likely gone. Hopefully we find a solid LB coach to really step up our Defense.
