Long as we are talking about hometown boys.. how about grabbing FS Jaxon Appel in the 6th or 7th round?

Ive always been impressed with him.. hes a hard worker and plays with an attitude.

6th or 7th round would be fair. I also admire him for his toughness. He probably wouldn't be much more than a special teams player on the pro level IMO because he doesn't have great speed and he isn't near as certain a tackler as people make him out to be. I've seen opponents break away from too many of his arm and shoestring tackles to believe otherwise.

i've also seen him give up on plays.....i was at the A&M oklahoma game from either last year or the year before (its been a while and a few drinks) and when the play was on the other side of the field he didnt hustle to get to the tackle, and he doesnt move as fast as i would like out of a safety. However, he did knock the bejeezus out of a couple of sooners, so i cant fault him for that. Sure...lets spend a 7th

he never really impressed me at all. he is vastly overrated on the MB. Sure he is tough, but he is not very good. Ko Simpson is my second round pick, and only one of them after our trade down.

Imagine, Ko Simpson and Jean-Giles in the same second round.

for a 7th rounder i think he is worth taking a risk on :).. though we could prossibly sign him as a undrafted free agent.

Is Ko coming out?? I really hope not!! He plays very fast and he is very strong. We love himover here in Gamecock country. Just wait until Sidney Rice comes out, he is a guy everyone is going to want. He is much better than Williamson was last year.

Jaxson Appel is the kind of guy that goes undrafted and comes in during training camp and earns a spot. He plays hard and is tough, but he is not really athletic enough to be drafted. He will be a solid special teams player, and hell matt stevens stayed in the league for a while so Jaxson can to.

Appel does not have the speed to get drafted. He probably runs in the 4.7 range, which is not enough as a DB. I think he may have a future as a special teams player and possibly as a backup safety (Texans have youth at this position, so may want to add an inexpensive veteran). He is tough, looks like a future coaching prospect type of guy.

Probably a 7th round pick at best, I expect he'll at least make a roster as an undrafted free agent and stay on at least thru the camps and preseason, beyond that just depends on how well he impresses his team. He had a decent pro day, and if a team really likes him I could see someone maybe using at best a mid-6th on him, but I don't expect him to go that high.
