Assistant Coaches For Texans

Resident Grouch
If the Bills do indeed clean house could any of their defensive assistants possibly come here. I think the Bills had a good defense. I don't imagine that Casserly would hire any of them before hiring a HC. Then again, letting the HC pick his assistants did not work out too good here up to this point. It would be one way to circumvent the "good ole boy" network.

This is info from profootball.com so take it for what its worth.

"If true, the following guys are suddenly looking for work: defensive coordinator Jerry Gray, defensive line coach Tim Krumrie, linebackers coach Don Blackmon, defensive assistant Chuck Lester, and defensive backs coach Steve Szabo."

Good topic. Gray will be in Detroit soon and is a front runner for the Rams job. If he does not get either, DC in Houston would be great for us.

The Rams seem to be focusing on a "defensive-minded" coach, while the Texans are focusing on an "offensive-minded" coach. Just the opposite of the HCs they have had. I don't agree with bringing in a head coach just because his expertise is the opposite of the past coach. Far more important is the coordinators he brings in. The important thing about the HC is his motivational skills, organizational skills and the ability to delegate IMO.

BTW, I agree with you KT, I think Gray would be an excellent choice as DC for us. I also think he would make an excellent HC.
