Bring in Steve McNair to tutor VY for a couple of seasons. What do y'all think? Someone just threw this scenario out on the radio here in Austin.

I wouldn't want Young if we didn't have a vet for at least 1 season. IF we could get McNair it would make an interesting dilemma on draft day. I was finally leaning towards feeling Bush would help us the most but always felt that Young was going to be what Vick was supposed to be. Oh...I'm not a tsip either.

I love the offseason.

It makes sense because McNair and Young are already friends and McNair has already been working with VY during the offseason. From a business standpoint drafting VY would make a lot of sense. The guy is already a legend in Houston and in Texas. The Texans would instantly gain a lot more fans in Houston and Texas if they drafted him. Besides, it wouldn't be a bad football move either.

After last night, VY is probably coming out. Every talking head on the boob tube this a.m. said he should come out now. I was for the Bush selection until it appeared VY is going to be available. The guy carried the Horns on his back all year. He is a winner and that is an intangible. It is going to be a tough decision. Both guys are unbelievable.

OOOHHHH!!! AAAHHHH!!! Woopty doo people. He beat a defense that wasn't all that good to begin with anyway. Yeah they are had lot of turnovers, but other than that, almost anyone and their mother could move the ball against USC. Pete Carrol called a poor defensive game, blitzing a guy like VY played right into his hands, allowing him to run with pretty much no one to stop him. The only thing I found impressive about VY was his ability to stay calm in the pocket. That was pretty amazing to me.

Creating turnovers is a bit misleading on how successful a defense is. The Bengals lead the league in turnovers and I don't think anyone would say that they are a great defense. Teams like USC, the Bengals, and the Chiefs a few years ago create a lot of turnovers because they score a lot of points and force the other team to throw the ball more, which leads to interceptions.

That was more or less the point I was trying to make.

"the only thing impressive about VY was his ability to stay calm in the pocket." - quote from the smart one
you don't think much of the 200 rushing yards (ave. 10.5/carry) for 3 td's to go with 30 for 40 total 267 pass yards (0 int) and a finishing td run on 4th down in the national championship game with 19 seconds left. no, that ain't nothin'.
which is it - aggie or sooner?

Vince Young is an amazing athlete and he will do well in the NFL. He isn't perfect though. Obviously he is lethal once he gets out of the pocket, but I'm sure some of you noticed how he holds the ball in one hand as he runs. He has dropped a lot of balls this way and luckily Texas has recovered them. While he got away with this in college, the NFL is a different story. Besides that he was nearly perfect last night, but could probably still use a year on any NFL bench to learn more mechanics and learn the playbook.

I'm a college football fan.

USC's defense was less than impressive this year. Lienart didn't play a great game...he floated several balls. And at the end of the game, he should have thrown the ball underneath to Bush again, he could have gotten an extra few yards and gotten out of bounds to at least try a FG. Look, the game yesterday was poorly officiated game that screwed and benefitted both teams. I'm not saying what Young did wasn't relatively impressive, but you had to see it coming. I sat there all night yelling at Carroll not to blitz, which played right into the hands of VY. If you give a guitarist a guitar, don't you think he's gonna be able to play it? Plus, how hard was it to complete some of Young's passes. I could have hit some of those WRs. What I'm saying is Carrolls D played right into the hands of a very athletic football player. Now, my other problem with Young is that he's always in the shot-gun formation. I think I saw like...4 plays where he was under center. He won't be albe to get away with that in the NFL. The most impressive player in that game to me, was White. He ran right down the gut against a D that was tough as nails.

That's a great point. VY had a tremendous day but he IS a shotgun/option QB right now. He would have a hard time running the west coast offense. This hype about VY may benefit the texans though....I just heard someone say the some scouts are saying is VY is a bigger prospect than Bush. I'm reaching but maybe we swap picks and get Bush and and 3rd or 4th round pick.

Was lastnight the first time you saw VY and UT play? Go research the Ohio State and OK.State game this year. Go research the Rose Bowl last year and get back to us with "Woopty Doo"...

VY has an intangable that no Texan has. Unfortunately Casserly will completely overlook this...

I dont want VY. I dont want Reggie. The thing that I want is an offensive lineman. The first two cant do sqaut without a good oline.

VY is the complete package and before i continue to champion him for the first pick and i will, i want to be sure he is coming out.

P.S. Mel Kiper just put VY in front of Matt and has him no 1. overall

not great? c'mon
