Hey Crash, when did Jake Plummer become the QB he is now? Last year, when Denver seen enough of him to know that he was still that QB from ASU playing in a horrible system. Denver rescues him and gives him an offensive line and running backs for Christmas. Amazing how he finds his receivers now. Carr will enjoy the same turn around when we get our OL fixed and Wells, Hollings or Morency becomes a dominant back ( previous post I've traded DD to GB or DET for their 2nd round pick, either would be a fair exchange. ) due to an improved line. Of our 4 headed RB situation, DD is the only one with any real trade power. It makes sense for DET and GB because they will not get a RB of this caliber with their 2nd round pick.
I think the HC job is Kubiak's for the taking, concurring with other posts. He brings in the know how for the OL and my projected 3 headed RB tandem. With his knowledge, they will definately have success by the second season, 2007. As fans, we must be patient in 2006 and allow the new system and draft picks to gel. Year 2 is when we will see this offense hit its stride. It would be really interesting to see which of the 3 RB's arrives at the top first. I would also venture to say, that 1 of those guys will be good for a 1,200+ yard season in 2007. With this, we would finally get to enjoy the precision air attack of Carr to Johnson and Bradford / Gaffney now that he would have the time to check down to his 2nd and 3rd options on pass plays. We drafted him #1 because he was a great QB. He didn't become a bad QB, this team let him down miserably by giving him no protection. These moves will also help make AJ the superstar we knew he was when we drafted him. Hopefully, Kubiak has a DC in mind who can come in here and start the rebuilding process.
Moniker for the 2007 season: "WE STRIKE FAST AND WE STRIKE HARD". Hopefully by 2007 the NEW TEXANS can live up to that on both sides of the ball.
*Note: Why VY will not work here? Simple, too many distractions from family and friends. Like winning the Lottery. Every weekend, who gets tickets to the game!!! Everyday, another family member or friend has a "Get Rich Quick" angle and only needs a few $10K's to get it started. Old high school buddies wanting to be hired as "YES MEN" oops, my bad, I mean his posse. Of course don't forget the expected apperence at every type of family function through the 7th cousins birthday parties and now that you're rich you better not show up empty handed. This guys life would be exciting for about a month or two and then a "Living Hell" will arrive prompt and on time at his door step. And, as in F. Gump, I would say, "Run Vincent... Run" all the way to New York. This guy is going to be a great QB, but it just wouldn't work here.
