David Thomas

Bubbajwp

All Flopper
What do you guys think about this guy.
He is a little small 6-3 245 for a TE but would be a huge WR.
He made some great catches today.
Catches 10
Yards 90

VY to Thomas reminded me of Vick to Crumpler. Then again, I didn't see his blocking ability (and granted, blocking USC rushers isn't all that hard)

This guy can flat out play football ..... I'd take him w/ the first or second pick in round three . Would fill a HUGE need this team has had for the duration of its existance . :twocents:

Edit: His stock may rise come combine time and could most definately move up into the middle of round two .
We have watched him all season and know what he's capable of .... the rest of the nation got to see him play the best game of his life in the biggest game of his life .

Compared to Jeremy Shockey, 6-5 253, I think his size is fine and the guy can flat play. Would love to see him here. Yea, it's homer to like UT players, but all this kid does is succeed.

I would just like to see some committment to using the tight end. I could care less who it is. To me, TEs are a dime a dozen.

Sounds like a good idea maybe he falls through the first day completely and goes early Sunday first overall. I think Pope will fall to #33 but am not sold on his agility. Lewis and Davis will be long gone and I just think a lineman is a must in RD 2. The kid looked tough and like you're saying, can play. If we don't take a TE then Joppru will a)get hurt or b)struggle due to rust and never having played in the NFL. What's the worst that can happen? You get two TE's who can play. 4.8 too that's pretty quick. Sounds like a Dallas Clark guy but tougher hopefully.

David Thomas is exactly the type of H-back like Chris Cooley that Kubiak loves to use in his offense. I could see us using a 4th or 5th round pick on the guy even though it would not be wise. If he last till the 5th take him, first pick of the second day you should always get a guy that might start.

I really like Auburn's Cooper Wallace who may be had in the 5th/6th. He's really smart and was a key ingredient to their 13-0 run last year. Without Campbell his #'s dropped and that combined with Auburn's tough bowl loss could drop him down to heavy sleeper territory. Mix for Auburn is also talented as it seems there are a lot of better pro TE prospects coming out these days, many of which are under the radar.

Preach, I have mentioned before that Anthony Nix or Mix whatever his name is looks alot like a nice sleeper TE prospect. The kid is 6'4" 248 and plays wideout and he looks very good at blocking due to Auburns propensity for the run. Cooper impressed me a little last year, but I think he is on the same level as Rivers who we have now.

I wouldn't be comparing him to Shockey yet. Shockey is a physical freak.

I personally would love to see Thomas in a Texans uniform. He has great hands, blocks realyl good and can get yardage after a catch. He is also not an easy guy to bring down.

Tony Gonzales isn't exactly a Fox. Besides, when you're 6 FOOT 8 INCHES tall, you don't need to move like a bullet. Leonard Pope can block AND catch and if he falls to #33, then we're silly if we don't look hard at picking him up.

Anyone see a resemblence?

David Thomas will not last until the second day. He is a worst a 3rd rounder and likely mid-2nd round. He will be a combine freaks - dude bench presses 500lbs., runs a 4.6 forty, has great hands, and a little bit of a nasty streak.

I wouldn't mind seeing Brick taken in Round One and Thomas taken in Round Two. Maybe a safety (Slay?) in Round Three.

I was very impressed with the play of David Thomas.

I watched him on several plays. The guy can catch and block.

But I don't know how good the other TE in this draft are.
