Vince Young cannot help us. Period

Working?
Im sorry to burst your bubble, but Vince Young is not our savior. Here are reasons why:

#1: UTexas has a fantastic O-Line. I can't even count how many times the commentators said, "Wow, look how long Young has to pass!"

When USC blitzed him and the blitzers weren't picked up, he had trouble and made some mediocre decisions

Imagine him behind the Texans "line"

#2: Quarterback is not our biggest concern right now. Our biggest concern are Oline, LB, and DB.

#3: Carr's problems are almost the same as VYs. He breaks the pocket in favor of scrambling when pressure comes. He picks 1 receiver and locks in (David Thomas tonight, remember that pass across his body and the entire field that should have been picked off?).

#4: He is NOT declaring this year

The basic fact is, VY is a fantastic athlete that will PROBABLY become a fantastic quarterback sometime in the near future. THe problem is, he isn't declaring, we don't need a QB, any QB we do have with this line will look like a joke (the HEB sack commercial anyone?), and his throwing techniques may prevent him from ever reaching his NFL potential. therefore please stop praising him, and start glorying the many picks to shore up the holes we have!

We will be looking for BPA with the first pick. I think everyone knows my view as far as fixing the O-Line, but there is no Orlando Pace out there as far as I know this year. Vince had a great Rose Bowl, and a great year for that matter. I would not blaim them for picking him. Just I hope the later round picks, or FA lands us a LT.

We can only guess because we don't even have a coach yet. :)

*edit* Vince has not yet decided (or so he says on ESPN) if he is going into the draft or not.

Building a team isnt about ...What can you do for me NOW ?

Its about what can you do for my franchise in the long haul !

You want Instant Gratification you dont draft Vince .... You want long term success you draft the kid and sit him for a year behind Carr . (Pending he comes out .... But if you watched the post game interview ... You know he's Staying in Austin) :twocents:

"vince young can't help us", you must be crazy, i suppose david is doing an aswome job:sarcasm: the fact is VYwill be a better QB down the road than david.

I have to go with what Vinny said a while back... like him or not.. He just Wins PERIOD... what more could anyone want.. He beat Michigan and USC pretty much by himself in both Rose Bowls. I just wonder what his stats would be if he was given the weapons that Applewhite/Simms had to go with them.

Vince could help us and you could sit him behind Carr for a year. All I know is, is that the guy showed up BIG time on the BIG stage where "Mr everything" did not not (Bush.

But yeah, O-line, Safety, LBs are what we need.

This same arguement that is being made for not drafting VY (assuming he goes pro) can be made for not drafting RB. We have a lot of areas to fix. Davis, Dre, and Davey are not our concern. But then again, a big arguement (and certainly one of the biggest decisions of Kubiak or whoever else takes the reins) is that we do have a line. We do have a defense. The coaching staff just ruined it. Dan Reeves was here to help make this decision. If the Texans decide that the problems can be fixed with coaching, look for No. 5 or No. 10 to come out in a Texans jersey on Draft Day.

I doubt VY comes out this year, because next year and the rest of the semester in Austin just got him some extra cash from the boosters. Next year if Carr does not perform look for Young Randall Cunningham to come out and maybe we will be in posistion to get him, or not. Who really cares. Carr and VY have alot of similarities. They both have a gunslinger launch, Carr better arm though, They both love to scramble, VY much more dangerous though, and they both have not yet had a chance in the NFL, Carr got his *** kicked for 4 years though.

Agreed. The Texans organization needs to get some decent offensive linemen and a couple of good people that can strengthen the defense a bit more.

Did you forget we went 2 - 14? Billy Bob from Corncob St. University could help this team right now.

Why is it every year we hear about an absolute Longhorn player pick that we have to have. Williams, Benson, DJ, now VY. I just wish the Longhorn homers would just put that away when actually thinking of what this team is lacking and which direction it needs to go.

Remember when CIN drafted Akili Smith and then 3 years later took Carlson Palmer? I wonder if they were having the same discussion at the time? IMO you take the best player available and his name is Vince Young!

Welcome home Vince!!!!!!!:headbang:

Not only that but they also want the Texans to take Michael Huff, Jonathan Scott, and David Thomas

First Welcome to the board hope you bring meat.

Second, Akili Smith was not near the talent that Carr is and did not put up comparable numbers. VY is nice, but until he says I am coming out, and even then I am still on the trade down and snatch picks. DC is the Franchise QB of this team.

Hey, you are absolutely correct i want those players UT has the top 3 recruiting class every year since mack's arrival. I also believe they turn out quite a few awesome pros

So every player that has a good O-line should be docked for it? Bush, White, Lienart? You have to have a good O-line to make it to the champ game period.

Trouble? You mean, he shook them off, and then ran for 5-40 yards? Or evaded, and completed a high percentage of passes?

This is your worst point. You are making the mistake of taking need over talent. This is why we have Carr instead of Peppers. Travis instead of Derrick.

Locks on to one reciever? Sweed had 8 catches. Pittman had 4.

Vince Young 30-40 267 0 0 131.1

Doesnt look very Carr like to me.

There is no problem with taking the best talent in round one, and then building up the walls in round 2, 3, 4.

Get over your hatred for Vince.

Disclaimer: I wouldnt mind Vince, Bush, or D'Brick. I just want the best talent.
