coordinators

There have been many HCs let go recently, and I assume many (if not all)of their coordinators have been too.
Who are some of the better ones who are likely to land jobs, but not as HCs?
The HC subject has been worn out, but I still wonder about which coordiantors might end up here.

I would not mind Norv Turner as our OC, however, I think Kubiak will bring in a young coach from the Broncos - likely Marty Shotenheimer's kid who is Denver's QB coach.

I would like to have Jim Haslett has our DC, but he will get a head coaching job. I am hopeful that we can get either Jim Gray (maybe the Buffalo staff gets fired) or Mike Singletary as DC.

I've heard Singletary mentioned but I'm not sure about his coaching experience.
What's he been doing recently?
For sure when defense and Mike Singletary are mentioned, you have to at least listen...

Singletary is currently the Assistant Head Coach/Linebackers coach for the 49ers. He followed Mike Nolan to San Fran from Baltimore where he was the linebacker coach. I know he wants a HC job this season, but this is probably a little premature. I think we might be able to entice him to come home (from Houston and played at Baylor) if we offer him DC/Assistant Head Coach.

Slow down there. McNair hasn't hired Kubiak yet. I'm one of those that hopes he looks at all the applicants and picks the best one.

well before i say any names, let me remind people of wand who many fans believe was a horrible LT who gave up way too many sacks. this season he became a scapegoat and therefore not seeing any PT. fans called for his head and the coaching staff did not want to seem blind and foolish so they benched him.

now let me say the same thing for a man we all know. capers...for DC next season. in no way have we seen a true capers defense that he can bring for us (why he let fangio ruin it as he stood by is beyond me), but he knows the players and like someone said before - the players in no way have lost any respect for him. he knows defense and the 3-4 as well as anyone in the NFL. i believe the 3-4 to be a great defense when coached correctly with the right players.

the reason i mention wand is because i doubt many fans will buy into the capers for DC since he is our scapegoat for his blind loyalty and loosing record. personally as a fan of the game as well as the texans, i wouldnt mind giving him a shot as our DC. whos with me?

I don't think a demoted head coach would get too much respect form the players. Pity maybe.

If Capers is Defensive Coordinator, does that mean Gargamel is back to Offensive Line Coach? Cause I would rather Pendry not be kept around the offense.

He'll be a DC somewhere, but not this year and never again with us. It will be with some team next year.

right now it could be the Giants under Tom Coughlin, but that is only if Tim Lewis gets a job. I think viable options at coordinator would be Brian Shottenheimer, Dennison, Singletary, Chizik, and Hoke. These guys may be able to really step up even though Singletary is trying to be a HC now. He may find that he does not have the experience which means we could lock him down with an increase in pay and the opportunity to make his mark for 2-3 years.

In a chronicle blurb today, it noted Detroit contacting Singletary for the HC position but no date set for an interview. MS thinks he's ready for it.

To add to this, something to consider is that there are two coordinator vacancies for every head coaching vacancy. So there is lots of movement. DC is a good DC. Ha! If not this year, he will pick up something next year. I just hope he doesn't go to Hawaii with Glanville.

:tv: What about Munchak with the Titans .

He would be a fantastic option for o-line coach. For the first time (I think) we'd have an o-line specialist in that position. What a concept! I think that a move such as that could bring about dramatic improvement in the players we have and be a boon to any rookies we bring in.

with that thought in mind... where's Bruce Matthews these days?

:redtowel: Well I've researched the Defensive Cordinator spot and thinking that the best will be promoted to Head Coach and then there will be backfilling with other coaches . So I'm promoting Steve Spagnuolo from the Eagles to a DC .

He is the LBs coach right now has also coached the DBs.
