Wish we'd seen more of Banks

Nighthawk

Rookie
It says here 14 of 25 for 173 yards, 6.9 yd avg, 1 TD and 2 INT.

Yes, he looked sloppy out there, kept missing throws, throwing into traffic, throwing into the dirt, but at the same time, well, he looked like a quarterback. Who knows how much better he would have been for us had he been allowed to play. No he doesn't have Carr's upside, and yes he may be uncoachable, and he may make bad decisions, but when he was running the team today had to feel the power, you felt he really SAW the field in a way Carr doesn't (and maybe never will), you felt at any moment you were a snap (or two) away from a TD. His career in decline, he'll move on to another backup role somewhere because apparently nobody thinks he can run a club. I'm not saying he can, but I'd like to see him get another chance.

I agree. I saw more than enough of Banks in the preseason (23/48 for 253 yds with just 1 touchdown). Raggone had better stats in virtually every category (completion percentage (50% to 47.9%), yds (265 yds to 253 yds), yds per attempt (10.2 yds to 5.3 yds), touchdowns (3 to 1), and quaterback rating (124.7 to 70.9). I hope and pray that Banks is let go this offseason and we get someone who can move the ball as our #3 (behind Ragone).

I didnt want to see Banks to see Banks, I wanted to see Banks to see the offense with a different QB in there. It was really intresting how the middle of the field was used with Banks out there but hasnt been used when Carr was out there.

I saw the following out of Banks today.

1. Streaky (already knew that) and he had one hot series followed by rarely being able to put enough good throws together to keep a drive alive. At the same time he also suffered from a problem that haunts Carr. Drops. Yes he threw some bad passes. I'm not saying he didn't. I'm just saying that he had a couple that should have been caught (and that TD to Bradford? WTH? How come Corey can catch that thing but can't come down with that one pass Banks threw up high? It was in his hands!

2. For all his faults Banks "looked" more like a QB because he knew how to handle the pressure. During every single play he was in Tony Banks appeared to have more time to throw the ball than David Carr (at least to me he did). He never looked hurried or in a panic. That's the single thing he has over Carr. He's got about 3000 times more pocket presence than David has. By itself it doesn't make him a better QB than Carr. He never will be. It does make him look like a better one when he's on a hot streak though.

3. Decision making is maybe the worst I've ever seen. Man he makes more questionable throws than Joey Harrington. Kyle Boller, and David Carr combined. This is flat out the "kiss of death" of Tony Banks game. This is why he can't be a starter anywhere anymore.

Arm strength, no problem. Accuracy, we can work with that. Pocket presence, excellent. Decision making is the deal breaker.

Tony Banks stinks. He's never been a good QB, and he never will be. The only reason he even got a TD at all is because the Niners are arguably the worst defense in the NFL. I honestly believe that if Carr stayed out there, as bad as he is, he wouldn't have given the game away the way Banks did.

If we really wanted to evaluate some talent, we should've stuck Ragone in there. At least he's young and has some potential. Banks is old and has no potential. There's no point in seeing how Banks affects team chemistry because he's not going to be there in the future.

With Carr in the game we wouldn't have been.

Banks starts for the Rams in 1998...1999 with Arena QB Kurt Warner, the Rams win the Super Bowl. Think the Rams got better by accident? I was happy to see another QB in the game though just to make sure it wasn't all David Carr's fault.

14 of 25 for 173 yards, 6.9 yd avg. would qualify as a career game for Davie Franchise.

If Carr was on any other team he would have been benched several times over the last 25 games. Hopefully the new coaching staff will be more concerned with winning games than hurting their "franchise" quarterback's feelings.

Just last week Carr's passer rating was up over 100. He's not that bad.

In fact, it was 107.7 against the Jaguars.

:redtowel: I think Banks is more of a NFL QB than Carr . I think at this point its a shame the other QBs did'nt get a shot . Geez they ended 2-14 . I would not give Carr 8 million .

I don't think anyone here wants to give him that much. There are other options, but I don't think just letting him go, without seeing what we can keep him for, is the best way to go. He IS our best QB right now. I have no doubt about that and I don't want to spend a #1 pick on a QB again when we already have a descent, but not great, QB.
