Had a 4th round grade in some places.

Not what I expected but I think we're starting to see this offense develop and it's going to be brutal.
 
these picks on offense tell me that o'brien wants to be able to finish games with the lead on the ground and be more dangerous in the redzone. seems wise.
 
Old school FB. Dude will clear lanes for the runningbacks.

I think we are going to be running the ball a ton.
 
This guy drives through would be tacklers and for big guy has pretty decent feet and swivle
 
Blocking is a recurring theme in this draft for us, we even took one of the best blocking tight ends in the third. It seems obvious that the team has accepted that there isn't a great option for us at QB this season, but we're going to make it tough for teams to get to our quarterback.

Plus our defense will be out there to give Fitz as many chances with the football as possible. Gonna need that with all the picks he throws.
 
On a serious SEC run. And who let Jim Harbaugh into our draft room? Looks like the Texans are going ground and pound, not Patriots spread.
 
A transfer from Illinois, where he earned Freak status for power cleaning more than 400 pounds, the 255-pound fullback has impressed the Auburn folks on the field and in the weight room. Earlier this spring, Prosch broke the Tigers record in the power clean that was previously held by Jay Ratliff and Ronnie Brown when they each did two reps at 371. Prosch did his power-clean double at 380. And, Auburn strength coach Kevin Yoxall said that was after Prosch had just come off surgery. Prosch also was electronically timed at 4.72 in the 40. "He's well over 250 and he looks like he weighs 230," said Yoxall, adding that people probably should've known the guy was blessed with some great genetics all the way back to when he was a toddler. Yoxall's proof: he saw a picture of a young Prosch at 7 holding up some big fish he'd caught. "He was jacked at 7 years old."

Zone running schemes are much less effective as the NFL has transitioned into more 3-4 defenses and also due to rule changes that limit when and where cut blocks can be used. I also think a power running system is a better fit to allow for pre-snap audibles, to create personnel issues with substitution packages, and to create big play abilities in the play-action passing game. I know play-action is a huge part of the ZBS, but it was a staple of the offense (therefore a focus of the defense)... Also, with all the boot action, it allowed the secondary to eliminate huge chunks of the field. Effective power running will cause safeties to react downhill to play action even if they are not assigned to the box... creating over the top opportunities from one sideline to the other.

All that is to say that I doubt the plan is a conservative one- just a physical one.

Love this pick. I had mocked him to us a couple times, but I didn't know if OB like him for his offense. Apparently he does.

He should be a FB in this offense for a few years. Very good kid and football player.
 
Would have preferred Trey Millard because of his versatility, but Prosch is a better pure blocker and I have a feeling O'Brien plans on pounding the ball.
 
I'm glad this guy and the TE are blockers. Blocking was atrocious last year and that made our entire team struggle.
 
380lb power clean? Holy ****ing he'll, that is beyond insane. I've cleaned 275 at the peak of my strength and I was huge, 267 and 11% bf. This guy makes me feel like a small girl.

I take back all my overreaction, and though I don't love the Savage pick this O-line and run game building through the draft has me absolutely STOKED.
 
I like the player, as a FB he's very good at what he does and should be very good in the NFL. I dislike the pick though since we've had 4 FB's in the last 2 yrs. (Jason Ford, Zach Boren, Greg Jones, and Brad Smelley). We've got a revolving turnstile at FB, you'd think we could get 1 guy to stick. Also there was much better talent on the board at more important positions of need.

How many of those guys did we draft? 0.

How many of those guys are even still on the roster? 1.

Did we have a regime change? Yes.

I don't see what the problem is.

We used a late round pick on a very good fullback who will probably come in and become our full-time FB.

When it comes to positions of need, you're really asking a lot of a late round pick to expect that person to come in and start. These guys we thought were so talented and such great players have probably dropped this far in the draft because they don't fit our schemes or because they're not as talented as we thought they were or both.

He did 380 twice. That makes it even worse. He has a max of over 400lbs. Jesus
 
I only saw him catch the ball a couple times, but he looks like he has decent hands. Doesn't look like he fights to catch the ball.
 
New HT.com VIDEO on Prosch. He will indeed be our new "Hammer." Amazingly, he never graded out any lower than 92% in blocking in any game he played in.
 
for "purists" which i favorably call myself and those who love a hit you in the mouth style of football, i dont think there's anything more beautiful in the game than a dominant fullback. for years tony richardson was my favorite player. leach is another wonder - a big ugly bruiser, but it takes more than willingness to be a great. the fullback has to have eyes everywhere and a 6th sense (or exceptional preparation) for what the defense will do - he's the lead for a reason.

prosch rightly gets a ton of praise for his pure abusiveness. he's going to hit defenders, and hit them, and hit them, and as we saw repeatedly with leach and foster - eventually players will get out of the way or simply accept being bulldozed. what makes him a fullback worth drafting however isnt the violence, it's his reads and understanding. watching his tapes, he can line up the key linebacker or press into a lineman or lead into a safety - taking his assignment and knowing what to do on the fly.

i love a good fullback, and prosch has the makings of a player that can be an impact.

Yeah, maybe they told him they are committed to more than a 25% of the time FB AND not one who even if really good won't be valued at more than league minimum.

I think as the Texans are figuring out the QB situation , running the ball will be their best friend . They also won't to get away from the finesse label and that's a start . I see him being like Moose Johnson .
