Curious move. Only for a 7th too.

Terrelle Pryor Traded to Seahawks: Latest News, Reaction and Analysis; LINK

The Terrelle Pryor era never got off the ground in Oakland. For a Raiders franchise starving for a long-term answer at quarterback, the front office evidently felt as though Pryor wasn't worth the wait to develop despite his immense talent.

Now, the Seattle Seahawks will explore whether Pryor can indeed become a viable long-term NFL starter, as they acquired the dynamic signal-caller in a trade on Monday.

Well he asked and he received, too bad he ended up with another team that he has a worse chance of being a starter.

Safe move for both teams. Oakland gets a pick for a guy with no real trade value. Seattle either gets a backup QB or wasted a 7th round pick, which is no big deal.

I don't think it's a problem. The Seahawks gave up nothing for him and they'll work on him while he sits behind Wilson. Basically they'll show the patience that Oakland didn't have and they'll eventually trade him for something much better than a 7th.

This is what happens when a stupid franchise (front office) gets taken by a clever one. I used to watch Oakland do this to other teams but that was a long, long time ago.

Great move for Seattle. Matches Wilson's style very nicely and will give them a plug 'n' play insurance policy incase he goes down.

Or a peeved prima donna who will be their scapegoat if their season goes south.

Didn't Oakland give up a 3rd round pick in the supplemental draft to get Pryor? I guess they didn't think he'd learn much under Schaub.

All the QBs on the Raiders roster know they dont stand a chance now that Matty is on board, so they are all abandoning ship. I wouldn't be surprised if the Raiders have problems signing another QB, they all too scared.

Maybe. Maybe they expected him to learn under Schaub. But when Pryor started popping off wanting to be traded... they decided they didn't want the headache.

The situation in Seattle is strong enough that that excuse likely wouldn't fly.

They can either get Pryor to buy in or let him walk. They got him for almost nothing and, at this point, he's really no better than the backup QB they already have.

He absolutely knows he has no shot at being the starter. But if he shapes up and competes hard to be #2 he might create some value in the future as a FA or trade piece for Seattle.

His first job in Oakland didn't go well. This is basically an audition for his second job.

Tavaris Jackson is entrenched as the backup in Seattle. Pryor will be no more than a #3 or emergency QB.

For those of you who follow college recruiting, remember that Carroll recruited Pryor as a WR when he was at USC. I wouldn't be shocked to see him as an emergency QB while they develop him as a WR.

Savvy move by one of the best FO's around.

You remember, that's when you and I used to sip papaya when we took a break from building the Sphinx???..........

And Jackson's deal is guaranteed this year so Pryor definitely competing for the #3 spot.

$1.25M...... or therabouts? Terrell has a salary of $750K, They can cut Jackson & hold on to Pryor & still would be paying less than some teams are for back up QBs. & they get younger doing it (Tavaris is 31 years old).

But Pryor is on the last year of his rookie deal, so I don't think the Seahawks will be getting much in return in the future.

Does anyone realize that Pryor is making more than Wilson for his base salary, and just a little more when you include Wilson's signing bonus (base: 662,434 ; signing bonus 154,868) this year?

Sorry I took someone else's word on Jackson's deal; which I rarely do.

$1.1m base, $150k guaranteed, $150k signing bonus.

Could be a straight up battle for the #2 spot then.

Wilson's base will be lower than both the back-ups. Love that rookie wage scale.
