Capers for DC?

Many posters have suggested it would be a great idea to keep Capers as the Texans DC! Why? In 2002, our defense was ranked 20th--in 2005, 31st. In fact, our defense in 2002 was the highest ranking in the Texans brief history. Too, only once in 4 yrs has the Texans cracked the top 20 in the NFL and that was #19 on offense in '04. Scoring, passing yds, pts allowed, etc. have all suffered this year. With the Panthers, Capers blamed his demise on an aged veteran team and vowed to build the Texans on youth for the long haul, so who got the blame for the Jag loss? Youth on defense. Let's all wish Capers good luck wherever he goes- but please- let him leave.......

Capers doesn't fix the defense because he's too busy screwing up the offense. He trusts Fangio too much, because he justs trusts defensive people more. I'd be glad to have him as a defensive coordinator and get him back to what he's good at and out of the OC's hair. Pendry does suck as an OC though.

i'm sure capers will be gone, so the debate really has no substance as far as the texans are concerned. what myself & others are saying, is that capers' flaws are because of the position of head coach. capers has very few leadership skills, but what he lacks there he makes up for in knowledge & the ability to teach players. where capers has & would excell is in a situation where he is using his strengths and it's someone else's job to manage the entire process. the problem he's had here & i'm assuming in carolina was that he is overwhelmed. here, he's let fangio run his pathetic cover two 3-4 defensive scheme without enough of his thumb on them, and tried to micromanage the offense.

the ability to responsibly delegate authority & see the big picture are leadership traits that dom simply doesnt have. when allowed to be a teacher again i think he'll be fine & people will remember why he was nominated to be a HC in the first place.

no way dom can come back at a lower position and still have the respect of the players. there's gotta be a complete overhaul of the coaching staff, and also some of the front office too.

It's true that he'll be gone for good. I just think he's a really good DC and I like to say that because it makes me feel better about wanting his butt fired from HC so badly, lol.

I think he's an alright DC. But it probably depends on talent more than anything. He's definitely not any kind of defensive genius, by any means. And after this season, I'm less than impressed with his inability to gameplan for teams or make any adjustments at halftime.

Please, let him leave Houston and do whatever wherever. Just not here, please.

The mark of a good teacher is 'excellence' in the class room or-in this scenario- excellence on the playing field. Achievement. Results. Getting the job done/making things happen. Team rewards. Individual awards. Positive working atmosphere, etc.

There is none of the above with the Texans. This team has far more under achievers than over achievers and only 1 special team player recognized by his peers as 'one of the best.'

What has Capers done with these players that indicates he is a good teacher--what results do we have with these players that would not be here today if not for Capers? And, most importantly, what will this team be lacking when Capers is gone?

Please, enlighten me as I'm sure I've over looked something...
