RockNRandy post Super Bowl Mock Draft

1.) Teddy Bridgewater QB Louisville or Blake Bortles QB CFU - I love Clowney but QB is the end all or be all in the NFL and I feel TB it BB will be the pick. I think O'Brien is leaving towards BB.

2.) Kyle Van Noy LB BYU or Stephon Tuitt DL Notre Dame - would love either of these players on the defensive side. I think both would boost the defense a lot. Both are versatile inside and out. It's a toss up. I value Tuitt more though.

3.) Louchiez Pourify CB Florida or Stanley Jean-Baptiste CB Nebraska - I would take either at this point in the draft this is a steal! Big athletic CBs are a trend and a need again it's a toss up I would lean towards Jean Baptiste.

4.) CJ Fiedorowicz TE Iowa or Lache Seastruck RB Baylor - love both! I think Seastruck is special and Fiedorowicz is a beast in the blocking and receiving. We need a big TE to complement are new QB in the pass game and we did hire Iowa's TE coach on the Texans staff. Only makes since Fiedorowicz finds a home in Houston with his old coach as O'Brien has a TE happy offense and they know what's best for a rookie QB.

5.) Joel Bitonio OL Nevada or Jaylen Watkins CB Florida - I think both are serious sleepers. Bitonio is a quality OL late here and verse with good balance. Jaylen Watkins is Sammy Watkins older brother and for some reason just has not gotten the attention as he did when he was a freshman

6.) Billy Turner OL N. Dakota State or Morgan Breslin LB USC - again love both would like to have both. Turner is a nasty OL and I think he can grow into somethen special. He looks like a New England style OL and since O'Brien is now HC makes sense for turner to find a home in Houston. I have been on the Breslin train for 2 years now. Very verse a lot like Cushing and Breslin in a dog. Just hustles and gets after it. I guess I will stick with my guy in Breslin for some reason his stock has fallen this far.

7.) Marcus Williams N. Dakota State or Isaiah Crowell RB Alabama State - Williams is a ballhawk and like Watkins I think he can be a soils nickel corner also. Crowell has had his troubles but texans need a RB and he has the size and speed. He reminds me of Marshawn Lynch a lot.

Is it just me or are all these mock drafts looking very similar to each other?

Another very solid effort, good if not great players across the board each addressing critical needs!

Biggest challenge I'm seeing is how highly rated some of these prospects will be on any given teams big board? Not sure if its as much about just trying to be realistic or actually putting enough work into it that represents true player grade.

Yeah, I'm seeing Van Noy at 2-1 a lot.

Like Bitonio, but wonder if he'll be there in 5th.

Ya I agree
But some "experts" have James Hurst in the 5th

OL and decent players slip all the time
I remember when Eric Winston was a sure fire 1st RD pick then he performed ok at combine and pro day and measured out with short arms and dropped to the 3rd Rd for Houston and many other OL drop

After the 3rd RD the draft is a scout crap shoot
Just depends who they want and where they want them really.

I doubt Bitonio is there in the 5th as well but you never know

I think my whole mock has guys a round later when you want them prolly a round early if those are "your guys"

But I had to fill the slots so I did my best.

It's a good job.

I think we'll see reaches for long CBs now that everyone will be copying the Seahawks model,

Which leaves more TEs to drop this year since nobody's copying the Patriot model anymore. Except us.

Yeah , they are all somewhat similar , there is a consensus as to what the teams needs are and none of us are very far apart on what those needs are.

I think right now , we're just guessing but can put most players within a round or so of their eventual draft spot.
After the combine , we might get that down to half a round for the majority of players.

Teams are going to value guy's all over the place , especially after the 2nd / 3rd rounds. All it takes is one team out of 32 to throw a monkey wrench into the gears.

I think that there is a degree of group think going on, people raise names, and mock them to the Texans which makes other people have those names top of mind and gives them familiarity and comfort with them.

The other factor is that a lot of us are probably using similiar sources as big boards and round grades to place people.

Will be interesting to see if there is much divergence once people start picking people in the Texans Talk mock draft

Good draft Randy. I think O'Brien would prefer Bortles but the McNairs want JFF. Will be interesting to see what happens here. Ags have a lot of influence in this town. Like the Van Noy and Seastrunk picks. I think Arian may be done here.

Maybe by that time you think the grades will be that much cleaner & as a group, in Texans Talk Mock, needs will not be as neatly aligned thus a more true big board in effect. Should be more exciting than many of recent Texan games :whip:

True

I really like picks 1-5 though that 3rd round decision would be tough. It would all depend on if you want future CB talent or Safety talent, I think Baptiste gets moved to Safety in the NFL, both of which are needs. I'm not familiar with the guys in the 6th and 7th rounds. Nice mock.
