Working?
1. We don't need any new O-line help, ours just needs time to gel!
2. A rookie OT couldn't come in and learn the schemes fast enough to be a starter
3. There is no need to sign a big name FA. Do you want us to be in cap trouble like the Titans?
4. Its only the preseason!

its not that cut and dry im afraid.

1. If we get new Olinemen they MAY need time to gel.

2. Rookie OTs rarely start at LT their first season. RT would be good though.

3. DO you want us to be in cap trouble? This response is usually only used in situations where an ignorant fan is saying we should trade David Carr for Brett Favre and sign TO though. Ok maybe not that bad.. but alot of people seem to think we have no talent and any name they recognize on the FA list is an immediate upgrade. (such as Peerless Price)

4. If its preseason.. then it IS only preseason. Do you know how many teams play terribly in preseason then go on to make the postseason? alot. Just cause our bad preseason performance carried over into the regular season.. that doesnt mean people were wrong when they said "Its only the preseason"

P.S. where does this Faggins hate come from?

He has played very well for us as a nickle and dime back. He was a 7th round pick that has shown that he can contribute to the team. So he had some difficult as a starter at the beggining of the season.. GET OVER IT! He is young.. he is talented.. and even if he never gets any better, he is still a great 3rd and 4th string CB.

Most of the teams you are refering to play the back up and reserves to see what they can do. It is also a time for extensive evaluation of the shiny new draft picks. Pre-season for us is nothing compared to sucessful teams, and i contribute that to the coach.

on a side note, i have a serious craving for froot loops.

I would have very little problem if he was our 4th or last CB. The problem is he is starting. He is not talented, and he has shown less progression than david carr and he has had circumstances working for him. He has never had anything but a difficult time when he was force into extensive playing time.

I was wondering when someone would ask about my personal vendetta for him

pretty much every team in the NFL follows the same..or very similar..patterns in preseason.

the starters are slowly worked in.. a quarter at a time.. until the final preseason game where they play the majority of the game and the 2nd/3rd stringers get one last chance to show their stuff.

Basicly what im saying is... no.. we arent any different.. and no.. preseason has no real bearing on a teams capabilities come week 1.

Well if ya have no problem with him at 3rd/4th string.. I dont see any point in having a personal vendetta with him. you can pretty much guarantee that he isnt going to be the #2 CB next season.

He isnt criticized by anyone except me on this board. Everyone calls out buchanon who stepped it up considerably and has more talent than most DB's in the league, but says nothing about a 7th round starter with no potential and little ability. He is beat deep consistently but refuses to play the reciever running the short and intermediate routs. He could at least do one or the other.

It's not his fault he's a starter. He goes out there and does the best he can (which isn't starter material, I agree) and what happens, happens. You should redirect your vendetta to those who not only put him on the field as a starter, but let Wright (and to an extent, McCree) go because of him. This coaching staff felt that, in nickel situations, Coleman at safety and Faggins at nickel (last year) was better than Coleman at nickel and McCree at FS. I still disagree with that decision. They let Wright go because they thought Faggins was a better nickel back. I still disagree with that decision. I have no problem with Faggins. It's not like he's going out there and failing due to lack of effort. He fails due to lack of talent - he was a 7th round pick for a reason. The coaches that continue to put him out there are the ones that deserve a vendetta, in this particular instance.

1. Fire Capers or Casserly(hopefully both are gone)
2. Carr is a below average QB it's not the line.
3. Trade 2 draft picks to a division rival to move up and reach for a DL to convert to LB.(ref : Jason Babin)
4. Why don't we bench Carr and start Ragone?
5. Don't draft Reggie Bush trade down.
6. Pre- season does count.
7. Tell the DD to fumble the ball we need the #1 draft pick!
8. Kris Brown missed the FG on purpose for higher draft position
9. Hire Jimmy Johnson
10. The Texans trade a #2 and a #3 for a CB that cannot tackle and gets burned downfield. (ref : Phillip Buchanon)

"We just simply failed to execute today".
This is the one I thought of.

Others:

I know one thing, this team hasn't given up.
We'll see what this team is made of in the second half.
We have a team of fighters.
They practice hard.
Joppru just injured his pinky toe.
Giving up a 3rd isn't much, since only 25% make it.
We really love our new 3rd round pick.
We really like his athletism.
We should be competing for the playoffs. :brickwall

Add to that, "I know what it takes to win football games." and
"Keep the score close so you still have a chance to win in the 4th quarter."

Cuppa, I'll be hear win or lose...I mostly hang out on texantalk.com, but I'll come back here too. Either to eat my crow or to hear some love from you Texan fans. This what I anticipate.... "Great game, hope you do well in the playoffs, series now even 4-4, we'll get you next year."

I dont want to hear in 2006:

The Texas have traded their 2nd, and 3rd round picks, for X player.
Anything from Steve McKinney.
That Pitts is the LT of the future, and a LT will not be in our draft plans.
Our head coach say "We didnt execute.", 10 games in a row.

Okay these have to go also:

1.) I thought our team fought hard.

2.) We just failed to execute.

3.) each member of this team is gonna have to take a real long look at themselves in the mirror.

4.) We Play for Sundays.

Exactly. Pre-season wins are fool's gold.
...just a little difference, Pats and Colts are proven winners and will win during the reg season-- Texans are not--easiest place to entrench winning is the pre=season, hoping it carries over

"Dom Capers has done an amazing job turning this team around. His 3-4 defense dominated the division and allowed his grind-it-out offense to keep him in games. This season shows the coaching skills that Capers can bring to the table if given the proper talent. The Packers return to the NFC championship game really is a dream come true for fans..."

1. Offensive lines do need time to gel. It's just a necessity. You can debate the amount of time required of course and certainly there comes a time when you have to say that "this group simply did not gel" but if we make significant changes to the offensive line during the off-season then they will need time to gel. Sorry.

2. A rookie OT can come in and learn the schemes fast enough to become a starter. He'll look like Chester Pitts in 2002 but as long as you're good with that then sure, I won't say it.

3. Whether or not you need to sign a big name free agent depends on what you need and who is available at what price relative to what you have to spend. There is no need to sign a big name free agent if the point is just to sign someone and make the fans happy because they recognize that players name.

4. Sometimes it is "only preseason".

Why? We should have. It doesn't matter though because you won't be seeing those. They'll be replaced with "We should have drafted Reggie Bush" posts
