hello guys, and gals been reading your posts its almost like being on my own message board, its amazing how alike the topics and problems are for us. sound familiar....o-line that can sometimes adequately run block but poor pass blocking a QB who spends more time running for his life than finding a reciever, posters who welcome a loss to stay in the bush race? congrats on grabbing reeves, our own local media are scratching their heads wondering why we didnt make that move as we have no football minds in the front office. anybody else find it ironic that bush,s last game will be a calif vs texas game? its tough bein at the bottom of the barrel hopefully both our teams can make it a better season next year. you want to hear a funny one? one of our local radio sportscasters wondered out loud the other day , what the rule is on throwing a challenge flag on a successful play. he wondered if it was legal to challenge say a touchdown against you guys at the end of the year.. yes we are that bad that our local media make fun of us. good luck no matter how this all turns out. hopefully next year neither of us will be in a position to care who the best pick in the draft is. i assure you that like many here and on my own board i dont advocate losing on purpose. good luck in january may the best team that day really win.:redtowel:

Best of luck to you in losing, winning, strength of schedule?

I sincerely hope, for the health of both franchises, that y'all get Reggie Bush. Good luck to you :)

I honestly feel that we can win against the Jags. We've had a season now to work out our kinks with new player personnell and transitions. They seem to be working as a unit now that the heat is on.

I gotta' feel bad for 49ers fans. You've had quite the fall from grace, especially after having five Championships in your history. We're just the lowly expansion Texans, so our fall was itty-bitty compared to you guys.

The national media, for what it's worth, is billing the game as the "toilet bowl". How original (NOT!).

I'm of the mind that we can win our next two games, too. I honestly hope we do, just out of pride if nothing else. :texflag:

I BELIEVE WE CAN DO IT MAN!
Hope we win the Jags game and until then hope the Niners will show up and not make it obvious when they loose to us. :penalty:

I'm from San Diego... I think Bush would love to be with his ex-high school teamate ... plus this means he can stay in California (even though it is up north) with his family roots.

No offense man, but I'd much rather be a Texans fan than a 49ers fan right now. At least we have an owner who really wants to win games. And to have 1st picks 2 drafts in a row is pretty sad. Not dissing you or your team, but let's just say that it doesn't look like you guys are getting anywhere anytime soon. At least you guys can get Bush. :)

Welcome Niner fan! Ya wanna talk about a depressing season for a fan?? How about mine. Of course my favorite team is my TEXANS, BUT, I have been a Niner fan since I was about 10 y/o. Since I am an OLD grandmother, thats a long time!! My devotion will always stay with my home team, but I ALWAYS hope the Niners do well. I've had to double up on the antiacids this year watching both my fav teams hit skid row. Man, what a bummer!! I feel pretty certain SF will get Reggie Bush, even if the Texans get 1st pick. I'm just not convinced our brillant (scarcasm) GM would draft him.

Good luck to the Niners! I would give anything to live long enough to see a TEXAN/NINER SB. Who knows. With both teams essentially building a team, maybe that will happen some day.

I don't see us beating the Jags but we'll beat the Niners so it appears the first pick is yours to have unless ya'll actually win this week. Who knows right.....that's why we play the games.

i dont see why you guys could not beat the jags, we were two dropped interceptions from doin it. i would say you guys are better than us this year, especially when you let carr call the plays. just got done watchin our coaches press confrence, he is determined to try and win, and i would expect nothing less. the rams are vulnerable they have really nothing to play for.as far as our head to head matchup, i imagine alot of running at each other but the edge in passing going to you, maybe depends on how much better our 50 million dollar wonderboy improves over the next game i see little bits of evidence that the game is finally starting to slow down for him every week. i hope we both win next week. yea we had the first pick last year, but it was really not the best year to have it, couldnt get any trade value out of it, and as much as i have hope for alex smith, i wonder where he would have gone in this years draft? that being said i would love to get a shot at reggie bush and i hope we are in a position to get him, but if not i see more value in this years second pick than last years first. good luck next week lets both go out and win.

you guys could also benifit by trading down, maybe the Jets and address your line too :)
yea, but this is the first year in the 30 years ive been a fan that there was actually talk of blackout games due to ticket sales, christ they,re practically given them away at the grocery stores. i saw a promotion where you can get 4 tickets and 4 hot dogs for what two seats normally cost. nothing would would put butts in the seats faster than aquiring player as hyped as reggie. our line is really not as in need of drafted players as much as maybe one free agent right tackle, by the way could i interest you in a former #1 pick named kwame harris? we have two new high pick linemen in there now and i expect them to be alot better next year. after Dbrickshaw id say you can get about the same talent of linemen down the draft, but they take so long to develope.

aj hawk is interesting getting him and some picks or a talented free agent might be worth looking at. at any rate i hope neither of us are having this conversation next year, how about the jags and dallas next year fighting for the first pick .....amen?

i think you are going to beat the rams this week. you've done it already this season when the rams actually had some form of a secondary and when marc bulger was the quarterback not the harvard grad. by the way, looks like you guys got a steal in frank gore. he is looking better every game.

This thread is like a long-distance self-help group. :)

At least you guys have memories of Montana, Young, and Rice--or does that make it worse?

Great memories come with patience and believing in the team you care about. The days of Montana, Young, and Rice are long gone. The NFL has changed to much, and we will never see that kind of football EVER again. JMO.

I don't know SheTexan. The Manning/Harrison connection looks like a modern day verion of Montana/Rice. Those guys are nails, and certainly eventual Hall of Famers.

I agree with that. Prior to free agency, the NFL was a different world. These days teams like the Seahawks almost lose to the 49ers and like a couple years ago, the Panthers lost to the Texans and the Patriots almost lost to the Texans. The Steelers, Raiders, and Cowboys of the '70s, the Niners, Cowboys, Redksins, and Giants of the '80s, and Cowboys of the early '90s played a different game. They were supposed to win games against the weak teams, and they did. These days, a rise from mediocrity isn't that unusual and often precedes a fall back to mediocrity.

hard to answer that one, it does make us more unreasonable and less patient i think. i guess seatlle would be worse lose like every playoff game they have ever played. i guess knowin that back in 79 we were 2-14 and what we accomplised after that gives you hope. i wonder if you guys would or even be interested in pursuing pete carroll for you next HC or do you figure for a more offensive minded guy.

SF should continue to win, it's a tradition there! Where is the PRIDE!!!:tv:
Stop tanking games! It's NOT good for the image, and will bcome a blemish in the long history of the franchise!!

Do you see Alex Smith as the future of your franchise? His passer rating so far has to be the lowest in the league, and I dont think he's thrown 1 td yet. I wouldn't be worried if it was his lack of completion %, as that comes, but no tds, lots of ints, and the insane fumble problems hes been having can't be reassuring. How long do you give him?

Dsdamaged,
Welcome to the Texans M.B. I hope both our teams win this week. Likewise i hope all the 3 win teams win this week too. That way the winner of the Texan/49er game doesnt go from pick 2 to 5.

A very good observation. Maybe with some good free agency moves in the off season the Texans can hope to rise back to mediocrity. ;)

i believe he will become very good, like you guys at the moment, he has very little support an o-line with only adequate run blocking and poor pass blocking, no real tightend that can catch relief. our o-line has rookies that i believe will get better every game except for kwame harris i believe he is a bust, im hoping the eric johnson will come back strong next year as our TE. we could def use a breakout WR and we def need DB help on defense. im seein you guys are doin your part to try and win i thought we were too when we ran our first play for a TD, but it looks like were fading already our secondary is getting exposed for the rookies they are against holt, looks like smith and the small hands controversy continues, i thought he put that behind him in the jags game. hard to believe he can throw a frozen rope on one play only to have the ball slip out on the next, i believe its mental, not physical. anyway back to the game good luck guys im looking for alex to rebound and show me he is the future. i am not unreasonable he should be given another season to show marked improvement before any bust talks can even be considered. the biggest thing for me is for him to get that first TD pass and get that monkey off his back, would love to see it this game.

Don't believe what you read in the media. It's an absolute load of bunk and is aimed at York because he cut out the press' perks, including the gourmet crab buffet they used to put out every day for the beat writers. It's one of the worst case of pettiness poisoning perception I've ever seen.

another niner fan here, Thanks to your mods for allowing me access. You seem like a good group of fans.

It seems to me that we have the upper hand this week, only because we have a more experienced front 7 on defense and (though they are ranked poorly, if you follow our team it has been due to their length of time spent on the field more than anything else which i dont think will be as big an issue this week) your offensive line is as bad as ours if not worse...

if you are able to stop our run game, then you have a good chance of winning, but there have been better defensive teams who have had a hard time doing it. Just my honest opininion, it's not my intent to come here to insult any one.

I think you have a good investment in david Carr and that once you build a solid line for him he will be a serious threat in the NFL... but it does seem like you are lacking playmakers defensively... we have them but most of them are injured...

well hope to see some good discussion concerning this weeks game, personally i couldn't care less about the draft, i want to see W's today.

i hope some of you make it over to our forum, if you do my SN is jjbankhead there.

Sounds about right to me. We seem to be very similar teams. Coin toss game IMO.

Good post Niner_Bankhead. I will definately see this game. Although I will have to go to a sportsbar to do that. This should be a good game for sure. In my opinion it could go either way too.

I think that I will miss this game over the weekend. I hope that this ends up being a good game and that both teams play their asses off. Maybe this will be a Superbowl matchup some day.

When I first purchased the team trip to SF, I really thought it could be a playoff posibility game for the Texans. How quickly things change. Now I am heading west to the Bush Bowl and part of my mind tells me that I want the Texans to lose. My heart, on the other hand, wants our team to destroy the Niners.

I am sooooooo confused!

I went to Seattle and Baltimore this year. I can only tell you what we did. Hope for a close game (to loose in the last seconds if you want bush). But most of all enjoy the city and vacation.

Here's my wish:

The Texans' plane to San Fran. is hi-jacked by one man. The Texans are forced to forfeit. In the end, only one man is hurt and it's Osama Bin Laden on the floor in the isle with a bullet or two in his crotch. We get the #1 pick and Bin Laden is....well....punished and in captivity. :)

OK, so maybe that plan's a little too risky.

well enjoy at least for both sides this will be a compettitive game, if anything both our teams have been viewed as compettitive and have fought hard in many of our losses!!

here's to no injuries!!!!

yes we are pretty evenly matched so i think it will be a fun game to watch. I think its great that so many people felt we would be a lot worse than we are this year... its a shocker to see seattle or Dallas fans cringing as the final seconds tic off the clock thinking we might come back and win... they expected us to just roll over and let them have their way with us and it didn't happen.

I hope you have a fun time in SF, it is definately one of my favorite cities, and though the ball park may not look like much there is some real history there for those of us who are old enough to remember the glory days of the forty niners and SF Giants...... Take some time to see Sf if you can, The piers are fun and there is a great deal of seafood you can from vendors right on the piers (on the odd sides starting around the thirties there is a lot of touristy stuff like aquariums and resteraunts etc..) check out SBC park if you are a baseball fan its a really neat park, also china town and the upper haight are cool places to eat and shop for stuff. The best palces to eat in the city, IMO are the small mom and pop asian and mexican food places, you can get some great pizza too, i dont like the high end stuffy restraunts so i couldn't help you much there...

also they just lowered the prices on food soda and beer at the concessions at the Stick (its still candlestick to the diehards), it's still steep but its nice they came down close to a buck on just about everything, but the Chicken sandwich sucks, try Sierra nevada pale ale, good california made beer!!! well wish i could make it but i have to work sunday ill be watching the game form work.... :brickwall:

thanks again for you all being such a great group of football fans!!!

we lose because DD is hurt and Jonathan wells is hurt too. So we have broke knees(Hollings) and run around in the backfield(Morency) as runningbacks :yahoo:

i am going to this game as well, afriend just emailed that he has an extra tix and offered a ride :yahoo:

so i will look for you texans fans who will be there, if you see a 250lb 6ft tall irish man chanting about why the texans are going to lose, that'll be me!

BTW we tailgate in lot F and the guy who hosts it is up for tailgater of the year his year, he has won TG of the week twice this year, once for week 1 and we had a big TG party for our Message Board members (over 100 people showed up) fpr the giants game in week 6 the niners sent out a news crew and everything. It was great!

any way dont be scared us NIners fans are pretty nice to our guests! :ok:

I think both teams are going to light it up with passing in this game and the point total will be astounding. Our defenses really suck. Only problem is that Orr might have something to say about that. I hope our clueless coaching staff keeps him on the bench.

I doubt all that scoring takes place. Should be a REAL sloppy field.
