Out of state Texan fans

BetaV1

Rookie
Just like to get a general roll call on those of us who unfortunately do not reside in the greatest state. :)

New Orleans, Louisiana here. A guy who worked with me awhile ago was also a big Texan fan, but he is a native Houstonian. Other than him, I don't know any Texan fans here. I'm born and raised in New Orleans, became a Texans fan shortly after Hurricane Katrina when the city opened its arms to us. Will never forget how you folks in Houston welcomed us and treated us as if we were always a part of your city. Can't ever thank ya'll enough.

So who else is out there and what's your story?

I live in the ****hole known as California.

Was born and raised in Fresno. I was a 49ers fan as a kid but it never really stuck with me. Come 1999, 2000 I was a kid without a true team. Learned about the Houston Texans and thought it would be awesome to start from scratch. I knew I loved Texas, I saw the logos and colors, saw that McNair prevented LA from getting a franchise, and saw that David Carr from my hometown Fresno State was going to be the #1 pick in the 2002 draft. Kinda cemented things.

11 years later, David Carr was a bust, and I'm a Texans fan for life. Wouldn't have it any other way.

Another Louisiana-based fan, though I'm pretty a much a Yankee. Ironically enough I looked into the Texans after the Saints won it all in early 2010, not having cared about football until the local team had done well and not wanting to turn into a bandwagoner like so many friends and family (though I don't blame them). I liked the Texans and decided to start watching them during the 2010 season.

The first game of theirs I ever watched was Foster's breakout game, and I was hooked. The rest of 2010, though...:wadepalm:

Born in Philadelphia, raised everywhere else. Proll started back in 1993 with my first baseball game. Phillies v Astros, long story short i went home with an astros pennant. As years went by I moved with my mom to VA, Beach later Charlotte NC, than back to Philly. 2002 i was 15 and was begining my obsession with football seeing I was new to the sport, and the team was, and I never lost my love for the Stros. It was a match made in heaven

Wisconsin Texan fan here. Lived in Killeen Tx for part of my childhood, moved to Wisconsin to be with my dad when I was in 4th grade. Played football for years but never really watched it. Went to high school in 2002 when Texans started playing, and decided I wanted to start from scratch with a team and grow with them...followed them ever since. The last 8 years I have really invested my time and attention to this team, I live and breathe Texans football. Was banned for life from the main board and here back in the day, grew up and bought a house, got a new ip address and re-joined under this new name LMAO. Im a big time poster over at footballsfuture.com......can't get enough debate

From California Los Angeles/Long Beach area... hate that McNair kept a team from LA, its too expensive to travel to watch games but I did make it to the San Diego and San Fran games this year

Live in DC for 10 years now. I'm an Army brat. Raised all over Texas. Ended up here after I separated from the Air Force. When I was a kid I got to meet Warren Moon and Curtis Duncan. Been a Houston fan ever since. Plus my brother is a Cowboys fan so yeah.

I was not aware that McNair "blocked" LA from getting a team. What's the story behind that?

does venice count as "out of state"?

:)

Wow. How does that happen?

I do very much like the Saints and root for them to win because when they win, it means everyone in the city is in a better mood. Anything to help temporarily lower the city's horrific crime rate. :) Heck, I was partying in the streets when they won the Superbowl a few years ago because it was just a surreal moment. It felt good.

What part of Louisiana are you in? I've noticed from time to time The506.com will show a Texan game airing in areas of Lafayette and westward. I've always wondered how far west you'd have to go to get a Texan game on the radio, or for that matter, if there is a reasonable Texan fanbase in West LA.

EDIT: Sorry mods! I forgot the tailgate section of the forums existed for this.

Texans fan out of the land of OZ. Moved to Wichita after retiring from the Air Force. Why Wichita? Simple answer there was a job here for me.

This year I finally made my first "home" game (vs. Seahawks). I have been to a few away games though.

Originally from Spring, Grew up an Oilers fan...same as everyone else after that.

I loved living in Northern Italy ('93-'96). One of my absolute favorite places in the world.

Live out in San Diego. Grew up in Katy and will always root for Houston. I work for Uncle Sam and left TX in 2002. I've traveled all over but haven't made it back to TX yet. One day I'll make it back other than the two home games I average a year.

land of oz ? Australia?

born in italy now leaving in Australia for me, pretty obvious by the name :kitten:

I live just outside of the second largest city in Mexico... San Antonio, where rabid Sowboy fans come out out of the woodwork like cockroaches anytime they smell a victory.... it's horrible, and I wouldn't wish it on even Jerry Jones :)

Well, I'm up here in Seattle, Washington, though I lived in Texas forever. Mattieuk's also from near here (Vancouver BC)

I live in Boise but I spent the first 18 years of my life in Houston. Joined the military and moved around a lot and here I am. I go back at least twice a year to visit (I was there for Thanksgiving and went to the Jags game and I'll be going back in a week for Christmas).

From Houston, UH grad but the last 10 years have looked like this. Houston-Boston-Austin-Pittsburgh-Houston-pittsburgh. Back in the burgh but and like it here but can't ever get caught up in Steelers nation.

Currently stationed in Norfolk Va on the USS Minnesota SSN 783. There are couple of us on board my ship. There is a couple people who are in my condo complex.

Upstate New York. Didn't start really following football until 2001. Figured I would follow a team from the beginning.
