Sources: USC hires Steve Sarkisian
USC has hired Washington's Steve Sarkisian as its new coach, multiple sources told ESPN.

Sarkisian took over at Washington in 2009 and led the Huskies to a 34-29 record (24-21 Pac-12) in five seasons. Washington is 8-4 this season and finished third in the Pac-12 North with a 5-4 conference record. Washington had three straight seven-win seasons entering this year.

Sarkisian was an assistant at USC for seven seasons (2001 to 2003 and 2005 to 2008)...

It's a step up from Kiffin. Not totally surprised by this but I know USC fans were hoping for a bigger name.

As a Huskies fan - I don't think there will be too many distraught by losing him - after another so-so season, there was talk about whether they'd be keeping him after the summer.

That said - he's a good guy, has shown his willing to adapt (seen with the Huskies' up tempo offense this year) and hopefully he does well down there (apart from when visiting the Rainy City!).

lol at USC. Should have just kept Kiffin if they were gonna do this.
Double lol that the Huskies have had a head coach lured away, and replaced him with Petersen who has been fairly heavily recruited, which may have been an upgrade they would have looked at over the next couple of years anyway.

I was pretty concerned UW's recruiting class was lining up to head to USC or elsewhere if they were really disillusioned with Sark, but after this hire meltdown mode has been well and truly avoided in Seattle.

Washington definitely upgraded their coaching staff with that trade.
