Survivor Pool... will the Texans screw us all this week?

Alright guys, I need to post this now. I'm in a survivor league pool that started with over 1200 people. It's now down to 6 and the $takes have never been higher...

I'm picking New England this week to beat the Texans. And I swear every inch of me thinks the Texans are going to royally F me over by winning this pointless game. Schaub will probably come in and have the game of his life. Our special teams will block kicks and house kickoffs. Our secondary will pick 6 Tom Brady multiple times. Kubiak will coach the game of his life. Everything will come together on a meaningless game and I will be knocked out of A LOT of money and the Texans will lose draft position. The Texans will always find a way to piss me off and this would be the royal slap in the face/kick in the nuts...

I'm not crazy am I? There's something in the air about this week's game that screams Texans win. Lose to Jaguars and Raiders and beat Tom Brady and the Patriots coming off a tough overtime game to give Kubiak/Schaub (Keenum) a chance to hold their job and provide false hope for next year. It's just so classic Texans... but how do I not pick the Patriots to beat them!?!

Ah, I think you'll be OK. Take the Pats.

You say that now... but it would be classic Texans to put on a huge performance and beat them in a meaningless game for them. I can see it now.

We lost to the JackWires....at home....without a TD......

Bet on the Pats.

LOL! I could definitely see it happening bro. They love to screw the fans that pay for the product and this, as you said, would be a perfect way to do it.

With that said, I still pick the Pats to house the Texans. Pats are still playing for playoff seeding and home field. As long as Bill cares about winning, Gary will never have a chance. It's like challenging the neighborhood "slow" kid to a game of chess (Gary is the slow kid).

Well, if you feel that strongly about it.... what are your other options?

  • Maybe Dolphins over Jets in NY? Gross.
  • Panthers at home vs a streaking Buccs who've won 3 in a row including Lions and an almost upset over Seattle IN Seattle? Too risky and want to save Panthers for a home game vs Jets later.
  • Browns at home vs Jags? I'm not betting on a Cleveland team.
  • Bears over Vikings in Minnesota? Meh divisional rivalry... too close
  • Bills over Falcons in Buffalo? Gross
  • Bengals over Chargers in San Diego? Nope

Here's what's going to happen this week...

Keenum is going to play his mind out in the 1st half, sustaining long drives with beautiful throws. We go up 35-7 at halftime. Then, everything collapses in the 2nd half. He shows his true 2nd half self like he has been, the defense follows suit. The Patriots go up 38-35. The Texans get one last shot at a 51 yard FG by Bullock to tie the game and force OT. I pray he misses so I advance in my survivor league. Of course he freaking makes it! It goes to OT.

Patriots get the ball and chew up clock on a drive down for a FG. Theyr'e up 38-35 now. I feel awesome about my situation at hand. No way Texans drive down for a game winning TD! The OT clock is now at 3 minutes. Texans drive down... it's 4th and 5 from the 38 yard line with 23 seconds left. Rather than go for the win, Kubiak decides to go for the tie with Bullock kicking a 55 yarder. He kicks it right through the uprights... and the game ends in a tie

you need to just step up and take one for the team :kitten:

Pats first choice, Browns second choice straight up.

NT Jones is the defensive equivalent of Derek Newton against the run -- he's a turnstile. I think we run a lot. But Texans haven't shown an ability to beat the Pats, and Brady is one stubborn dude when it comes to losing.

I would bet on the Panthers before taking the Browns. Carolina destroyed TB in Tampa Bay. Of course it's a divisional game, so that always factors into the equation, but I still like it more than the Browns over Jaguars.

So I would rank them: Pats would be my first choice, Carolina #2, Chicago would be my third, followed by Browns, then Bills.. The other two games listed (Mia/NYJ, Cin-SD) are pick-em games that I tend to stay away from.

I don't know how much your survivor pool pays out but if you want to cover yourself put some money on the Texans moneyline (+$350) so you win either way; if the Texans or Pats win. But truthfully, I think the pats win easy. Good luck.

I think you're overthinking it.

I was one of 22 (when 30 were left) that got TKOd on Black Sunday - Colts get thrashed by the Rams and I figured the Titans could beat a crummy Jags team at home.

So I understand your trepidation, but man, I cannot see this upset at all, and the mere fact you have the Pats left this late? Who else can you possibly take?

Bills over Falcons would be my second choice. The Falcons, even when they were good, sucked outdoors and were suspect on the road. Add to that they're all beat up....

But the Pats over the Texans are practically a gimmie.

then again, don't listen to me, I was out of the board's survivor league in week four.
:D

Bills game is indoors in Toronto, where they have been terrible.

Plus it would show McNair that the team and Kubiak are "on the right track".

I know right? The worst part is that 3 of the remaining survivors chose Cowboys correctly on Thanksgiving ugh

I HAVE to go Patriots tomorrow but man I really feel like the Texans are gonna win. They were established 11 years ago just to screw me over tomorrow.

Ugh nothing... 3 picked Cowboys correctly and the other 3 of us picked Patriots and sweated it out today.
That was WAY too close for comfort. Now I feel bad for the Texans players :(

I noticed no one apologized to you. You were obviously correct. They did everything in their power to screw you.
