Eric Winston

Position:
OT

College:
Miami (FL)

Projected Selection:
Top20
Pros: Similar to Robert Gallery Winston was a former TE and has the athleticisim to be very effective in pass protection. At 6'7 310 he has the prototypical size of a franchise LT and should hear his name early in round 1. Great run blocker and has long arms and uses them properly for pass protection
Cons: He is coming off of a serious ACL tear that sidelined him all of last year and caused him to have a very rusty start this year. Had a horrible game against Florida State where that line allowed 9 sacks, but now he is starting to regain his dominance.
Draft Exchange Analysis:
Profile done by AshimariBozu

Winston did not move to OT until the 2003 season, but has made a good transformation and should be very effective in the pros. Won a High School state championship with Cedrick Benson at Middlan Lee High School.

he has the talent but has been overlook. he will come on strong once he is allowed to work out for scouts. Ty hill will go before him in my opinion. The big 3 of safties will also drop him SLIGHTLY if teams were looking at him as a F/S. Michael huff will also hurt him in the same way, as he is the same type of player.

You do some great research royce, thanks.

And my favorite picks would be Dumerville and Carpenter.

dang, no love for the mocks?

as is expected.

I'm just going to start copying scouting reports that actually only contain 2 lines of revelant information. The rest is previous seasons, highschool, and personal.

I wanted people to read up on the selections made to make their descions on wheither they agree with you or not... thats all. And one person has seemed to agree with you on Dumerville based on the info i put.

i guess i would mind it less if in the future you dont post the unnessicary info like highschool and freshamn and soph years of highschool.

the pros, cons could be expounded upon, but i do like the player comparision and the projected round *if there is one*

i tried to take them out... plus i was getting my portfolio ready at the same time so i was like cmmd C > ccmd v add some text.. personally i hate the personwl info... check some of the pther posts i tookit out.

ya, im not trying to hate on you. i actually like the fact that you are trying to educate other posters on some names that they might not be familiar with. I also saw you took some out, but in sporadic (sp) proportions.

Personally i dont agree with the personal info as long as it is football related. I know the teams know stuff before they draft him. What they should write is something like problematic, or good all around person stuff like that.

You might be right here. I think the Jets might be trying to confuse people on their intentions and are doing a good job. I dont understand why they need one. THey have both Pennington and Fiedler. They do want Bush and are prob more likely to go after him. If the Jets end up picking 3rd they are going to be in a pickle here. Because #1 pick Bush will go to the highest bidder. #2 pick Linehart will go to the highest bidder. If it goes Houston, SF, NYJ there is a possibility we might be able to work out a deal to move down to SF and another to Jets. If it goes SF, Hou, then Jets then it might just be 1 trade down to Jets.. then possibly trade down again for a Winston. If it goes Hou, NYJ, SF.. SF will move up and get Bush and we will get more out of it. Obourse dont forget there is also GB who is in serious danger of losin both Green and Davenport. So lets not count them out either. We cant really specualte on the trades unless you give us an order to go by.

texplayer2 said:

i was more or less figuring SF would be there. They took their franchise QB last year, and won't need one this year. that was my quick reasoning.

Again, i want to emphasize, i did not put to much effort into this. This mock was a spur of the moment kind of thing. Still hope you enjoy though.

trade with ravens (leinart) our pick for their 1&2 plus 3 from New England plus conditional first day pick next year

from what I can tell they will be picking between 10-15

I tried to pick a player from both sides of the ball for every slot, my preference being the first one listed

1* AJ Hawk ILB Ohio State or Eric Winston OT Miami
2 Paul Posluszny ILB Penn State or Mike Degory OC Florida
2* Daryn Colledge OT Boise State or Bobby Carpenter OLB Ohio State
3 Garrett McIntyre OLB Fresno State or Mark Setterstrom OG Minnesota
3 Mike Hass WR Oregon State or Kyle Williams DE Louisiana State
3* Digger Anderson ILB/SS North Dakota or Brian Leonard RB/FB Rutgers
4 Dwayne Slay FS Texas Tech or Taurean Henderson RB Texas Tech
5 Taitusi Lutui OG Southern California or Nathan Soelberg CB BYU
6 EJ Whitley OL Texas Tech or Steve Fifita NT Utah
7 David Anderson WR Colorado State or OLB Ryan Neill Rutgers

Hopefully the kid from Brigham Young will get to run at the combine

So you've heard of Digger Anderson. I was reading about him a couple weeks ago and thought he sounded good. He would be a pretty good pickup I think.
