If Reeves is hired will we be fined?

I know there are some hiring rules in place for the NFL. The NFL has to be watching this very closely. How in the world can you hire what looks like your new HC when your old one isn't even gone yet? Not to mention you do have to interview minority coaches as well.

I'm not sure but Bob's judgement is a bit cloudy it appears to me right now.

not if he interviews other minority candidates. All this speculation around here is going to get old....fast......not pointing any fingers but it's already insane.

That includes the press, as well, Vinny.. That's what happens when this kind of move is made.

Reeves was not connected to any other NFL team, so apparently he wasn't "hands off till the season is over"!

Thanks for the riveting insight Ibar

Actually what is riviting is watching all of the people involved. Its obvious this has shaken this organization from bottom to top. It will be interesting to see how the team plays on Sunday or will we see resignations before the weekend. This is not the kind of move the engenders faith in the organization. That press conference was full on subtle comments that were ment for various people. It was like an inhouse sort of thing where the listners knew who he was talking about and others would not necessarily be a party too what was really happening.

I would not doubt that Mr. McNair had his legal team look over the potential conflict with the NFL by hiring Reeves as a consultant. I doubt anything comes from this, because as has been mentioned, Reeves wan't employed by any other team.

Yes, he wasn't but that still does not get us past the fact that he's a WHATTHEHELLEVER consultant LOOKSMORELIKENEWHC.

And the team is still required to interview minority candidates. I believe the Lions tried this with Mariucci just brought in some skeletons minority candidates and gave mooch the job. WAY TO GO MILLEN!

His (Reeves) contract is only for 6 weeks, after that time the Texans will interview a few guys for the HC job, before finally announcing Reeves as the man.

Reeves ran a 3-4 defense in Atlanta and likes a 'thunder and lighting' running game. He had Barber and Dayne in NY then Dunn and Duckett in ATL.

Thats what was said at 1st but then during the press conference McNair said that Reeves will be with the team atleast a couple of months and could turn into longer.

Agree'd .... there are almost as many "Dan Reeves is HC ?" threads .... and Capers hasnt been fired yet .......as there are "Reggie Bush" threads in the same time frame ...and he has yet to declare ......people just grasping at the wind right now .

McNair's lack of confidence should signal the end of coach Dom Capers and Casserly, but it doesn't necessarily mean Reeves is the logical choice to take over. In reality, Reeves' early arrival actually complicates his candidacy for Capers' job, since his hiring – even with a minority interview – could be interpreted as a circumvention of the Rooney Rule.

The writer is an obviouse USC fan. Might be right, but I doubt it. I don't see Carroll being available and I doubt he would make a good NFL coach. Kind of like Spurrior IMO, a great college coach, but not NFL.

If Reeves is hired as the GM, I don't THINK the minority issues come into play like they do for a coaching spot and frankly I see that as the more likely position for him anyway.

What if they dont sack Capers?

What if during the course of his role as consultant Reeves says the problem is with the GM not the coach?

My guess is Reeves will be the next GM and someone else will be coach.

I think Carroll is looking for a big contract from USC. He saw that Charlie Weis got a huge contract from Notre Dame because a lot of NFL executives were expressing interest in him. If NFL teams offer him a big contract he will have more leverage with USC and get a bigger contract extension.

Nope not really. But then again how many BUSH, AND EVERY OTHER THREAD THAT IS REPEATED ON HERE.....hey why not this one too.

My sentiments exactly. Maybe Kubiak as HC?

Reeves is responsible for much of the talent on the current Atlanta Falcons squad. We definitely wouldn't have a problem with TE as Reeves seems to really favor the postion, especially on draft day. I think he would make a good GM.

This is me but they have a womans league if u want to watch that.

Well we used to have a negro league in baseball but we finally got over that hump.

My point is why don't they have to interview women, too? There are a lot more blacks in the league than there are women. If we have to interview a person because of thier color and not thier qualifications, then, why not because of thier sex?

I think Texans Chick would be a FINE head coach!

2 Reliant Park right? I will send my resume via HotShot driver, then wait patiently (until tomorrow at 5pm) for them to contact for interview. C'mon girls, get those resumes in! :redtowel:

He will probably get his big contract and he will probably use the Texans, like suckers, to do it.
