new to college football

so, since when I started to follow the texans I've always been curious about college football.

I never went much into it but now I'm starting to think I should follow a team, just to see something different.

I would like to stick with an university a texans' fan would follow.

So I guess I should choose between UH and TA&M

Can you give me some pointers on how to make a good decision?

You can follow both.
A&m is in the SEC which is currently considered the top conference. The sec has win the last 7 national championships.

Houston is in the American athletic conference (used to be big east) and is generally considered a mid-tier conference.

can I find the games somewhere? I'd rather using a legal way to get the game videos, like NFL gamepass.

ESPN is a good bet.
I'm gonna be a bit biased and tell you to follow A&M, but it's up to you. You can follow any team you want, really. Most people here follow the team of the school they attended or their family has attended or their family has supported for a long time. Some Texas schools are A&M, UH, Texas (University of Texas at Austin), Texas Tech, and Baylor.

I'm not sure if you get ESPN on TV in Italy but WatchEspn.com (the actual address is different but that will redirect you) offers it online, and it might be free in Italy or something.

This is the offer from ESPN:

since you have no allegiance to any team, id say follow UT. they are the texas school to follow. they get the best recruits, great fan base, on par with any football program in the u.s.

If you don't go to a school, have a kid at a school or have a specific reason to choose a school - root for any Texas team. You already get upset when the Texans lose, why get truly emotionally attached to a specific team? Root for Baylor, A&M, UH or whoever happens to be playing. Why choose only UT and have to deal with their current bad play?

yeah i guess. but im thinking he wouldnt be able to follow a team like a real fan is supposed to if hes following all the texas schools. im thinking he wants a team to follow and grow with.

It's not simple to explain, but it feels like I enjoy the games more if I am following one team and I am aware of their record and all that stuff.

Before starting to follow the texans I watched a couple of random SBs but actually having a team is much more exciting.

Even if they are 2-5

Go for the UH Cougars if you like battle red, Wade Phillips, Case Keenum and the underdogs.

(Wade Phillips played LB at UH in the late 60s.)

The Cougars don't have the financial support that UT and A&M have for a long time now. It's hard for them to recruit big-time players, but they are on the rise again. This year, they're playing at Reliant Stadium (same as the Texans) while the new stadium is being built on campus.
It will be ready next season.

They are currently 7-1 (4-0 in the American Athletic Conference) with 4 games against the top 4 teams left (UCF - University of Central Florida, SMU (Southern Methodist University, Louisville, and Cincinnati).

The Conference Champion earns an automatic bid to a BCS game (Bowl Championship Series.)

Well, given that three of the big ones don't play in the same conferences (being UT, A&M, and UH), I'd say he can reasonably cheer for three of them. After all, he doesn't have to have the hardcore ex-girlfriend mentality many Horns and Ags possess, and if he's following now that that rivalry is dead, he can ideally root for both.

Sigma, I'd say follow A&M. Quickly conquering Texas recruiting and SEC football. 'Nuff said.
