New England Patriots

Do you think they've just been through too much? Hernandez, Tebow.... lost too many players? Lloyd, Welker, Woodhead?

Or do you think everything is going according to plan? They'll have it all figured out by December & will be a true Super Bowl contender?

No reason to think that they won't be a Super Bowl contender. They've started off slow, but I have little doubt that their offense will have it all figured out by mid-season.

I highly doubt their plan was to pay Amendola, him get injured in game 1, and have every WR not named Edelman dropping balls left and right.

As long as they have Brady they'll be division favorites. Right now, they are FAR from Super Bowl contenders. They have a lot of work and hoping to do.

Agree totally. Their receiving corpse has been "dropping" like flies (in both sense of the word). They better hope that nothing happens to Vareen.

Umm werent they 1-2 to start last year
Well, that's part of the reason I asked this question. Last year, they didn't look too hot to start the season. But they had their core & it was just a matter of time before they started looking like their old selves again.

I think this is about what they expected, minus the injuries, but injuries don't seem to hurt that team as much as others... a testament to the great Belichick I think.

But we shall see.

Vereen will be back in week 10. Ridley is the starter and Blount is no slouch. Gronk should be back this week so that will help Brady. You can't expect him to be in mid season form after all the time he's missed.

They aren't very good , I said it before - If they didn't play in that division they wouldn't have a chance to make the playoffs.

Hell , its entirely possible they don't make it as it is. The Dolphins may be a better team .... I could see the Pats going 5-11 / 6-10.

Gronk and Amendola injuries have taken a toll on that offense, but once healthy they'll figure it out. Heck they're 2-0 with 2 division wins, they're already on their way. They'll win 10-12 games this year and be in the hunt come December.

There are two ways of looking at the Pats' situation.

1.) They've lost a ton of players in the offseason, and now have a classic case of injuryitus. They've struggled against two of the weakest teams in the league, their receivers can't catch a thing who Brady was berating in front of the nation during a mini-meltdown and they're relying on a starting RB who got pulled in Week 1 for fumbling repeatedly.

2.) They've had a ton of adversity, lost key players, had to play through a storm in week 2 which doesn't bode well for their pass happy offense, had a short week, after playing Sunday then Thursday. And are still undefeated with the best record in the league at 2-0.

I see things through the second standpoint.

Brandon Lloyd is still a FA, you think they would have signed him by now. And you can't blame bad luck with the Amendola injury... he goes through this every season! They are lucky they have two of the worst teams in the league in their division.

The Patriots made conscious decisions to not bring back Welker, Lloyd, & Woodhead. The Hernandez thing blew up in their face. Gronk's back was something they new about for several months (or weeks), plenty of time to "plan" for it.

Dobson & Thompkins appear to be very talented & Edleman is as much a Welker clone as Amendola was.

I think they expected some growing pains. Some of the other things we're seeing, Vareen's injury, Amendola's injury, Riddley's poor play, etc... are the regular things an NFL team has to deal with throughout the season.

I am wondering if it's too much too soon for them, but squeaking by two divisional opponents with Ws.... that's got to help buy them some time.

In other words, they made numerous poor decisions this offseason.

Tampa Bay, Atlanta, Cincinnati, New Orleans.

That's their next 4 games.
They could lose every one of those games ....

Tampa Bay is probably the easiest of the three and they play strong defense. I see that as another nailbiter for the Pats.

I expect Atlanta and Cincy to beat them. Both are just better teams top to bottom IMO.

Still don't know what to think of the Aints .....

We'll know a lot more about the Pats after this four game stretch , that's for sure.

They better start losing pretty quick then.
