Darryl Sharpton dealing with a concussion

I would just cut him at this point but who do you replace him with? He is the only ILB that can play anywhere like Cushing.

I would've kept another player I liked somewhere.....like Chris jones..or starling or one of the other young talented players we let go to reserve a spot for the oft injured sharpton ..and rolled with 3 ilbs since Reed can slide inside if he's needed.

Or I would've kept Collins. I liked Collins.

Anybody is better than nobody.

Get well soon sharpton (and stay well). We let some good players go so you can have a roster spot. We need you this year.

Agreed! Dude should've been let go a long time ago. Wasted roster spot!

A pat on the back and the dude's out for the year with 7 fractured vertebra

I said in another thread a couple weeks ago that Sharpton could be replaced with, quite literally, any other LB on the roster in preseason. He's entering his 4th season and he has 74 combined tackles from the ILB spot. And a sack. And an INT. He's never impressed me when he's played, and he almost never plays.

Somehow, Sharpton never ends up in the coach's doghouse like other injured players. WTH is that all about?

Some times teams hold on to players to long and sometimes they cut them to fast. We dont have to be stuck with a 52 man roster. Cut him.

If nothing else, the team will surely save money on medical bills.

You might remember that prior to the Saints game, Kubiak said that he wanted to assure everyone that Sharpton was NOT INJURED. He was just ill and should be back shortly. Evidently the source of his "illness" symptoms went undiagnosed until later.:kitten:

You nailed this! I remember you raising a question about it.

From what i am hearing, he was sitting on the bench by his locker tying up his cleats when the jock strap boy walked by and hit him in the head with his knee, sources say the kid has a pretty hard knee, and to collide with sharptons head at .0001 MPH is a pretty devestating hit.

Come on now dont jump to conclusions that he's injury prone guys :kitten:

This is just nuts. SMH in disbelief.

Sharpton is undersized for the ILB position, he's not good, and always injured. Someone please explain how he made the 53 man roster again this year. He should have been cut/injury settlement last year. He must have very damaging blackmail material on McNair or Smithiak to still be on the roster.

We just cut Mike Mohamed from the practice squad, I sure hope we sign him to the 53 man roster.

I was hoping that he could last 6-7 games... you know, just long enough for Mays (or Brooks Reed perhaps) to get used to what Wade wants from his ILBs and take over next to Cushing.

Any word on where he is in the concussion protocol procedure?

Wade... stop hanging on to this guy!
:strangle:

Yeah, I said Wade. If Wade didn't see something in him, he wouldn't still be here.

It wasn't just Wade.
More than once, Kubiak declared that he likes how Sharpton play.
He may be small in stature, but he plays physical and fast.

Here's what Kubiak said just a short while ago:
"He probably has as good an offseason as anyone on our team..."

Sure, you don't want a guy that can't suit up, but it's not like Sharpton is making a ton of money, and he isn't required to play a lot of snaps in this defense.
It's more prudent to keep him for depth until Mays shows enough improvement and Tuggle can come into his own.

Look at it this way; Sharpton's earning averages about half the salary of veterans like Bradie James, Dobbins, and Mays.
So, even if he only plays half of the time, you're still ahead of the value curve, especially because his play has been better than those guys on the whole.

His Uncle said he would lead a protest and boycott of the Texans if Sharpton is cut. I think that explains it.

No reason to put the guy down, I'm sure he would play if he could. Just an unfortunate string of unrelated injuries.

On those rare occasions that he can play.

Yep. Must be present to win.

If a Sharpton injury happens and no one is around to notice, does it make a sound? I mean honestly, at this point do they ever even count on him to be part of a game plan?

You never go full Joppru.
