Why would we need two punters?

My post was sarcasm because of all the hype he got. He got off a terrible yesterday. I am surprised he wasn't kept around to punt Thursday though and let Shane rest. Guess Kubiak wants to give him a chance at a job.

Ed Reed should've made the list. Seriously, why did they sign this old man? I know they won't cut a signed player with that contract but gees they could've got a legit #2 WR opposite AJ.

No troll, I just don't post much. People complain about the local sports channel being homers but it's cool on here? If you guys really think Ed Reed is going to be worth a crap you're in for a rude awakening. He's almost old enough to file for Social Security,

Kubiak and Rick Smith both makes statements about trying to help the players even if they don't make the Texans roster. You could be right.

potisyourfriend has a join date of 2007, if he was going to troll us, he'd have done it by now. He's just expressing his opinion of Ed Reed, which frankly, I'm not that far from being in line with.

That's cause you are both pot heads lol!!!!

the single biggest weakness on the team is at centerfield against elite quarterbacks like brady and manning. if ed reed sits half the season, misses 30 tackles, and splits time with the rookie it wont mean a thing. he's here to teach, to provide leadership on the field, and to win playoff games against pass first teams. even as a dinosaur ed reed scares the bajeezus out of the best quarterbacks, and with all that old age he knows the current elites better than anyone.

as for shapiro (i know yall are joking around), i bet the texans are selfishly hoping he goes unclaimed this year so they can grab him again next offseason. kid's got talent, but lechler is still probably the best punter in the game.

I actually love the Texans but being critical is completely different. I think the Ed signing was one of the worst. Did they even give him a physical?

Being critical is fine when you back it up with subsistence. Dont just say Ed sucks and end your post.

And then you go on to say we should have used the Ed Reed money to signed a legit #2 WR but dont expand on who, or even touch on the fact that Hopkins is sloted to be the #2 opposite AJ.

I just hope Ed makes thru the last part of the season and the playoffs. That's what he was signed for. I've got my doubts.

My 2 problems with the Hopkins pick is 1. He had a prior concussion history and with God'ell that will probably shorten his career. 2. Stills, a 5th rd pick is a much better value than Hopkins in the 1st rd. Stills looks like a stud too me.

I had Stiils in a few of my mocks. He's as talented as any WR in that draft.

And when he is gone when it gets to the Texans' turn in the 5th then what (other than lots of cries of "they didn't do anything")? Planning before the draft to get a certain player in the 5th is a fool's errand.

we are a ship full of fools then :barman:

I hope so too.

I cant find any prior in-game concussion history. The only thing that comes up is a mild concussion from a car accident before a bowl game.

I also think its not fair to base a teams draft selection up against another teams steal. I think Stills was rated 3rd round and went in 5th. You cant make the conclusion that the Texans knew he was going to be there in the 5th. They took their guy who is bigger, taller, longer, has bigger hands and catches everything around him and moved on to other needs. Stills on the other hand is smaller, has been noted to drop easy passes and has off the field issues.

Lastly, these guys have played in a couple of pre-season games. Lets see how things shake out over the next couple of years and then we will see who was the better value. It very well could be Stills. But it also could be that he is out of the league in 2 years due to off the field issues.

I think Stills can and will be a good receiver, but I think Hopkins has the ability to be a #1 in a few years when Johnson retires. I think Stills tops out at a #3 for a good passing team or a #2 in a team that doesn't have much depth.

As for Hopkins' history of concussions he had one minor one in college (that is reported) from a car accident. Stills also missed a game in college with a concussion. Once a player makes it through college I'm betting there are a lot of players that have had concussions that aren't even disclosed.

The really scary thing about the concussion Hopkins suffered was that it didn't involve a big hit, he just bounced his head on the playing field, and that didn't appear to be very violent. Then there's the issue of how long it's taking him to recover. And this is his second. That we know of ? Not good.
I'm telling you, Cordelle Patterson really looked good that night we played the Vikings so I dunno, did they draft the best WR on the Board back in April ?

So you are saying that when being critical, we should also eat? :chef:

Probably OT for this thread but you were really beating the table for D. Rodgers too and the Bills cut him loose in the first wave.

Sounds like Rogers has a difficult time learning things.
I read that during camp, the QBs had to keep directing him to his spot.
If he doesn't know where he's supposed to line up, how does he know what route he's supposed to run?

I wonder what kind of drug(s) that be failed the test for when he got kicked off the team at Tenn?
Maybe it messed up his brain?

What a waste of talent.

I had serious doubt that the Texans would want to touch such a prospect.

Patterson is very dynamic with the ball in his hands.
His interview was worrisome though.

It was a deep class at WR.
So far, all the guys that were drafted (that we discussed in the college football and mock draft forums) are having good camps - except for a couple that has some sort of injury.)

We won't know their real value for a few more years, however.

Like Dorin Dickerson and Cheta Ozougwu? (Both of whom are in the NFL at this point, btw.)

Didn't he cut Mondek last year and put him on the PS for a while?

They sure did.
He got cut on the 26th last year and was picked up by the Raiders
The Texans resigned him to the PS when the Raiders released him in October.
