Vince Young signs with Packers

Over the years, I’ve had to train myself to naturally dismiss about 80 percent of the crazy stuff that is either emailed or called in on the radio shows. Not saying there aren’t some good ideas, but it seems like every time a high-profile player is available – for whatever the reason – he gets linked to the Cowboys as a possible fit.

However, in the case of Vince Young, I think the Cowboys should strongly consider signing him.

For the Cowboys, it makes sense.

For Vince Young … it’d probably be the worst team he could sign with. However, he should be in the league and it sounds like he needs a job, so he’s not turning down anything. At this point, he couldn’t be picky and he wouldn’t be.

But let’s go back to the Cowboys’ part. They just tried to acquire Mike Kafka off waivers but he was awarded to Jacksonville. Obviously, they just showed they have a need for a third quarterback. Apparently Nick Stephens and Dalton Williams aren’t cutting it.

OH PLEASE OH PLEASE OH PLEASE make this happen!!
The circus in the locker room and the brawls between the fans vs VY fan boys would be EPIC! You could sell tickets through Ticketmaster with the entertainment value this would represent for all non-cowboy fans.

Mind you this is article is by a staff writer on the OFFICIAL Cowboys website, so it's not just wishful thinking by a VY fan boy (or maybe it is ).

This would be hilarious. Also, Jerrah is the owner who would succumb to the idiotic masses chanting for VY every time Romo throws an int or incomplete pass. :mariopalm:

If I was his agent I bet I could find a team to take him.

Of course I'd have to work for free as my cut off what he signs for probably wouldn't cover my travel fees.

Not the last. I think he could be a viable third string/practice squad option for quite a few teams.

You can knock out Practice Squad. And when you were referring to "third string," I take it that you were referring to sausage?

I don't think this will happen. But if it did, the sheer entertainment value of it would be priceless. I'd get an account on a Cowboys site just to ask them how they like their sausage.

I'd be listening to GaC (local Dallas ESPN radio show) every day to get their take on things. I'd be waiting for the inevitable implosion.

This is 1 time I am happy Jerruh made it rain and ran out of money..
keeps Dallas fans from enduring his stupidity even if it is for just a
fleeting moment

RT @JosinaAnderson: Breaking: Source: Vince Young will sign a 1-year deal with #Packers.

VY could get his ring, although losing LT Bulaga hurts the Pack.

Good for VY. Hopefully he has or is on the way to getting his stuff together and can salvage some kind of career.

Maybe he'll play LT for them?

Before anyone starts it, VY is NOT elite. You can spell elite without VY.

You know, I was one of those guys who thought VY could make it as a QB in this league. I really thought he had the mental toughness to put up with the crap he was going to have to put up with & still excel at his craft.

I thought he got a raw deal in Tennessee. Doesn't matter if you agree or not, that's what I thought.

But I thought he would be redeemed in Philly.

But when Vick got hurt & they but that fool in the game, I was embarrassed. Seriously, I thought about how I could go back & delete all my posts on this board about that sucker.

Packers signed him. Chances are he's going to be playing this preseason with guys way less talented than he is. He'll have an opportunity to prove he wasn't a joke.

But I won't be watching. I'll hear about it in the news one way or the other, but I'm leaning towards not.

AKA - the Return of the VY Fanboys!

You mean those guys that make up excuses for and see no wrong in their hero?

I assume you are referring to the Manziel thread. but if you read it without burnt orange shades, you'll see that while I lean to giving him the benefit of the doubt, I certainly don't got the length of the VY fanboys of defending him at all costs and relieve him of any responsibility whatsoever. These are the people whmo I've already seen post they hope Aaron Rogers gets injured.

I don't wear "burnt orange shades" as you should know by my stance on VY and his fanboys.

Fanboys in general are annoying, especially when they are part of your own fanbase.

Last chance for Vy but good thing he's in Green Bay. If it doesn't work out he can always get a job at the plant packing his Vy sausage links.

Watching ESPiN today and wondering.. Say Discount doubLe chock gets hurt...that offense would grind to a halt with VY. Just way different styles of a QB it seems to me ?

Granted VY has to make the team

All in all I wish him the best though

I do as well.

Man, I just saw that Bulaga is out for the season with an ACL. The stars are already aligning.

Seems like if they really wanted to give VY a chance, they would have signed him back in April and given him a better chance to absorb the playbook.

He'd need to have been signed April of 2012 to give him enough time to absorb half of the playbook.

Well...took his first drive most of the field, completed every pass apart from one and rushed for over 40 yards.

Only playing against the Seahawks 2nd defense, but perhaps he didn't spend all year eating Cheetos afterall.

Also threw a sure pick that was dropped.

Forgot to mention that - wasn't a great read at all. He wasn't perfect by any means, but he didn't look bad for a guy who has had the ****ty year professionally and personally that he's obviously had.

If VY can't beat out Harrell for backup QB, he really needs to move on to sausage fest party planning.

I was thinking yesterday how screwed the Packers are if Rodgers goes down. Of all the Superbowl contenders they've got by far the most to lose with a QB injury IMO.

I'm not sure hoping that Young can learn the playbook and be strong enough if called on for relief duties is going to be a season saver.

As much as I hate the guy, Rogers is playing on another level, so yeah the Packers are screwed if he's taken out of the game.

Then again that offense is tailored to him. If McCarthy can design an offense around Graham, who knows?

I have no ill will towards Young, but, Oy! His fans are going to be out of control now. Expect them to demand that Aaron Rodgers be replaced.

It's amazing how someone so highly touted in NCAA football can crash & burn in the NFL.

Same thing with Kingsbury and BJ Symons, great college QB in a great scheme, not more than a backup in the NFL. That was my worry with Keenum as well.

VY looked great last night. He earned his roster spot.

Wait... doesn't that leave GB without a backup? They cur Harrell, right?

Maybe we can get a 3rd rounder for TJ or Case, huh?

But seriously, the drop off from Rodgers to anything they can roll out as a back up would be so great, I figure they can play their 3rd TE as backup, who might have played QB in HS (I don't actually know that, just saying).

More Thompson on Young: "The fault is probably mine. I probably should have had him here earlier. If there's fault, it's mine."

[Packers GM Ted] Thompson on Vince Young: "We felt like that's where we were. Quite frankly, it probably wasn't fair to Vince. ... "

Someone should take out a full page ad in the Chronicle encouraging Mattress Mac to hire him as a salesman.

I think most salesmen have to communicate using complete sentences. C'mon now the dude can't even sell his own line of sausage.
