isn't anyone still rooting for us to win!

Once the game starts, my competitive juices will start to flow and I'll be ready for a win.

I am, this is a very winnable game

Yes and that's what scares me.

I'm sorry, I know I'm a bad fan when I say things like that but I can't help it. I want this team to improve and for that to happen I know a couple of things must happen.

1. The coaching staff must go and every loss brings that closer to happening. A string of wins against bad teams that we should be beating anywhere if we were on schedule will mean nothing and might save these guys jobs until next year. I don't want to see that happen.

2. The higher the draft pick the more we can do with it. Whether you belong to the "Take Reggie Bush, he's a god" camp or to the "Trade down and get more picks" camp your plan is still better off if we hold the first overall pick.

I cheer when the Texans do something good. I really do. You can't change a lifetime habit like that (Oilers then Texans). I just hope that in the end victory is denied (or the 2-9 teams win, that would be even better and then we could win too!)

I was torn there at the end. I was happy we took the lead and told myself that even with a win we would still be tied for the worse record. Then when the Ravens were driving for the gamewinner I didn't feel bad at all.

i was crushed on the Kris Brown field goal but the ravens came back and sent me cheering, its good once i've changed my perspective i cheer my heart out and go home happy.:yahoo:

When I stop pulling for my team to win just so they can get a draft pick will be the day I stop watching football completely. I'm not a gambler, and losing just to get a top draft pick is NOT what this game is all about. NO ONE can predict what will happen with the draft, nor can they predict that who we pick will be worth anything. Anyone remember Bennie Joppru??! Look what we gave up to get Babin! Yes, we have solid picks with AJ and DR, but, by the time we lose enough games just so we can get top draft picks, these guys will be on their way to other teams because they will be sick and tired of playing for a losing team. Then the trend starts all over again.

To watch a football game and hope your team loses is a very sad concept to me. It's a GAME guys!! We should always play to win!!!! JMO!:texflag:

^^ What she said. Ditto. :thumbup

Well said, SheTexan. Rooting for my team to lose is like trying to breath underwater for me. It's so unnatural that my DNA just won't allow it.

No matter WHAT, I pull for a win. At this point however, I don't shed alligator tears with a loss. I guess I need to go back into therapy so we all are not conflicted again. LOL (see sig line)

We'll have pleanty of time to win after this season is over and we have a new coaching staff and Reggie Bush to work with. This season is a total wash and I just hope everyone stays healthy.......Looking forward to the 2006 season:texflag:

Ahh..the idealism of the younger crowd! Such fortitude - such bravery!

Here's the problem for the idealists who DEMAND we try and win.

1. If you think Marcus Coleman is more experienced and ultimately gives us a better chance to win, then I assume you think CC BROWN should NOT play?

2. If you think Victor Riley is more experienced and ultimately gives us a better chance to win, then I assume you think Fred Weary, who hasn't played, should NOT play and thus not see if he's a future player?

3. If you believe that Faggins is better than Sanders, then Faggins starts because it makes us better? Therefore, we can WIN?

I wish you idealists who say WINNING IS ALL THAT EVER MATTERS would allow the other group of fans the ability to watch other players, see different schemes, try different packages and evaluate more often. See, we CAN'T DO THAT ----AND---- win every game.

So which one is it? Do we see what and who we have and take chances and try new things? Or, do we stay status quo and be idealistic and say WE MUST WIN!!

Now, if we win AND we get to see these players, schemes, etc...THEN HOORAY for all of us. Otherwise, trash the noble plee for meaningless wins and let's see if we have any real, young good talent out there. Oh yeah, and the high draft pick would be nice as well.

Pull to lose? NO!
Pull to win? NO!

Pull to evaluate, critique, and predict? YES!

I agree that we should give some of the players a chance to prove themselves, although I'm still not sure why Weary is starting over Wand or Washington, and I am not an advocate of starting Ragone. I also believe that playing Coleman over Brown would not help us win, if anything it would be the contrary. By all means we can wish to see some of these other people play, but rooting for us to lose so we can be assured of the #1 pick, as has been suggested on other threads, is wrong.

I agree. I wouldn't want to see Ragone either...mainly because I just want to see them let Carr sling it. I don't care about sacks, throwing it away, etc...

Let him run, let him audible, let him 'quarterback' the team, let him make mistakes, let him throw interceptions because he believes he can missile it through there....I just want to see us go after it. If we win in the process, then I'm pretty happy about that. I'd rather not win if it means the same old plodding, trying not to lose, 12-10 score where David throws 18 times.

I didn't mind the blitz last week against Boller because I would've never thought them to have the stones to do it. Yes, we lost because of it but we TRIED something. Now, CC will be more familiar with that situation, the LB's realize they'll have to be quicker, the corners will look for different things, etc...

I just want to see us experiment and go after something to learn something - not try and salvage McKinney, Capers, Bradford's jobs and get 'meaningless' wins.

If we get wins by gambling on our younger talents - Sanders at CB, CC and Earl gambling, Shantee Orr blitzing, Travis Johnson going all 4, Weary, Milford starting on OL, etc...then those are not meaningless to me.

I personally would like to see Reggie. However, I'd love to have a HAWK, BRICK, or WINSTON and another pick...for me it's not playing for the #1, for me it's the future. I think Capers and Casserly have shown a BAD ability to judge talent. With that said, they may have gotten some right - Orr, Babin, Milford, CC, Earl...I just want to see them play and roll the dice a little.

If we win, we win....

I'm rooting for there to be no reason in the world bob mcnair can use to bring back dom capers for one more year.

Do I want the players to win? Hell yes. Do I want dom capers to win? HELL NO.

I think the confusion speaks for itself.
