LenDale White.. Stay or Declare??

HeartofHouston

Waterboy
Do you think LenDale White of USC should declare for the draft or stay for his senior year...

I personally think that it all depends on what Bush does.. If Bush stays then he should declare knowing that's 1 less back that will be ahead of him and if Bush goes to the Draft then he should stay and increase his draft status when he gets a full work load at USC...

what do you think???

Lienart , Bush and a multitude of other players will be gone at seasons end .... they have likely run their course at the top of the polls . I'd probably declare in his position .

I think he is going to stay. He put up 1000 yards and 20 touchdowns with half of the carries. If he stays and gets all of the carries he is a legitimate heisman candidate and probably a top 5 pick. Right now he would be an end of the 1st round pick. That is a big difference in contracts.

i think he should and will leave. he is probably the third back behind bush and williams (i think he is better than maroney) and would be a mid first rounder. next year he would still share some carries with dennis and probably wouldn't be the best prospect if peterson decided to come. 1000 yards and 20 td and winning your third ap national title might be a good as it gets for mr. white.

I agree with this completely

I think if he comes out, he will pull a Ronnie Brown, and shoot up in front of Williams, behind Bush.

I dont agree..

LenDale "May" be better than Maroney but i dont think people realize that.. and that would make him the 4th Back Taken.. (2nd-3rd Round)

If he stays for another year, he gets 1400 yrds rushing and ends up the 1st or 2nd back taken (Top 15 Pick) and that's only IF Peterson decides to come out.. If Peterson stays next year then he WILL be the first back taken..

Some GMs are gonna be wondering what he can do with a majority of the workload, and smart GM's would recognize that Reggie Bush was tiring out defenses.. which made the work load that much easier for LenDale White and vice versa..

By staying he can prove that he can carry a major part of the work load, he gets more experience and prepares himself for the NFL.. If he stays he will put hisself in a better position I guarantee it..

Maroney being taken ahead of White doesn't mean White drops to the 2nd-3rd round (this assuming Maroney declares as well). It means White will be pushing some other player lower in the first.

He doesn't need to come back to prove he can "carry the load". Has Bush proven he can do this? I would go out on a limb and say he hasn't but it's not going to matter one bit...he's still going to be taken within the first 5 picks.

Ricky Williams decided he wanted to come back for his senior season. He won the Heisman and had one of the most productive NCAA careers of any RB ever. What did that get him? 2nd RB in draft status after being taken after Edgerrin James...a junior that declared early.

If your stock can't get much better...you declare. White fits this category. He has nothing left to prove. Only reason he should come back is if he enjoys the college game too much to leave and/or wants to finish his degree. Otherwise, he'd be crazy not to declare.

I think White depends on Bush, if Bush decides to stay then White comes out rather than backing Bush up for another year, while if Bush comes out then White stays and can be the star RB next year. I also don't think it's a matter of if Adrian Peterson will come out next year. If OU was the powerhouse they were last year then maybe he'd stay, but with all the talent they've lost I don't see him finding any reason to stay, and he'd basically be assured of being a top 5 pick barring any injuries. This year White would be behind Bush (if he comes out), DeAngelo Williams, and Lawrence Maroney for sure.

You're saying "Taken After Edge" as if Edge is not an awesome HB or something lol.. but yeah and with an extra year of college experience it helps you better prepare your body for the NFL.. everyone can agree with that.. There WILL be 3 backs taken ahead of him.. where as if he declares next year he could possibly be the 1st taken.. I'm pretty sure there are some GMs out there that would take White over Peterson.. but if not then at least the 2nd HB taken.. come on now you decide 3rd or 4th HB taken or: 1st or 2nd HB Taken..

I personally would pick Peterson over White and think that most NFL GMs would, but that is at least a year off so we'll have to wait and see.

And that's also "IF" adrian peterson actually declares and none of really know whats going on thru his mind right now.. so youre right we'll just have to wait and see...

True, but I seriously doubt Peterson stays after next year since OU probably still won't be in national championship contention and he will be a lock for a top 5 pick, but we'll have to wait and see how next year plays out on that one.

I think White has to come out. There is no way he can risk injury next year trying to prove he's the MAN when he's losing the entire offense and he'd be the only weapon back basically with some experience. Mid to late first round money is better than no money if he's hurt.

Not to mention he's a power back which means his lifespan as a RB is shorter. I think powerbacks needs to come out after 3 ....i.e. see BENSON and how that went wrong or Ron Dayne and not the denver dayne but giant one.

I saw somewhere that white is not exactly fond of being a college student, and that will weight heavily into his decision.

We're not talking about the James that just became the 3rd fastest RB to reach 9,000 yards. We're talking about the James that blew up his junior year of college and declared early for the draft. Back then, people questioned whether or not the Colts took the right RB.

And just like Ricky returning, there's no guarantee he'll be the first (or second, or third) RB taken just because there's only one (Peterson) that is projected to maybe go ahead of him in the draft for '07.

Why would he care which back he was taken? If he's taken 3rd or 4th could mean he's the fourth back taken and a top 10 pick. Remember Cadillac Williams????

or he could be the 2nd back taken and be taken 32nd.

Plus he needs to be put in the right situation and team. That helps a great deal. He appears to be a bruiser but does anyone know what his height and weight is? He sorta reminds me of Bam Morris.
