Coach's call has players seeing red

Imagine that. It has already been commented on this board by many of the credible posters that the players were not happy about this defense. I mean it is the reason why Sharper got canned for speaking out about it, and Gary Walker may have just punched his ticket to go to another team. Fangio's system has never worked and I doubt it will ever work in the pro game. He needs to just call his defense a soft Cover 2 that tries to stiffen in the redzone and leave it at that.

The guy sits his guys in a 8man blanket zone and picks THAT time to bring the house. What a stupid collection of coaches. First Dom plays for the field goal and doesnt even try to pick up a first down. Im not saying throw a pass but the boot was workin good when used but what do I know im not the coach....

:texflag: Our whole front office and coaches remind me of the little Sicilian guy in The Prince's bride . The one who was so smart in got into a battle of wits to the death and ended up poisoning himself .

Inconcievable. Never go against a Sicilian when death is on the line.

Worst of all, Fangio called a timeout to set up the blitz. With the Ravens in a frantic two-minute mode, he gave them a chance to regroup and plan for the blitz.

True, that's the worst. In regards to the actual call, last week we tried cover and got killed, this time we tried the blitz and... same result. Perhaps Capers are not entirely off when he mentions lack of execution...

It's almost as if they decided to do the exact opposite of what they did last week hoping it would work. I think putting pressure on Boller was a good idea, but to send everyone? That is just asking for a loss.

We as fans have complained that they are too passive with the blitz , now that they blitz we complain that they shouldnt have ..... Until they get more talent the defensive scheme or gameplan will not matter . The result will remain the same ... the losses will pile up .

We fail to remember that the Texans lost Two Pro Bowl calibur players from this defense over the off-season ..... How much of the Texans woes this season can you attribute to that ?

Fangio is likely gone at seasons end along with Capers and the rest of his staff ..... In the mean time lets hope this staff can continue their losing ways and leave the next regime the #1 pick in the coming draft ...and hope that Casserly doesnt blunder .....:brickwall

I say execute the whole coaching staff except the special teams coach.

Why the coaches ?

Its the coaches job to come up with a plan that puts a team in a position to win .... last two weeks they have done so .

Its the players job to execute the gameplan ...... They have failed to execute more often than not this season .... place the blame where its deserved , squarely on the shoulder of the players .

Corrosion this is close to your worst post ever in a string of bad post. Not only do you want your team to lose which is just pathetic, but you completely miss what posters are talking about on this particular thread. Look man I dont mean to attack, but damn man just read the post. No one is upset with the blitzing. We like when they play aggressive, but sending an all out blitz after calling a timeout to let the offense prepare is just a bad call. Boller was in a shotgun formation and this of all the times is when you call a blitz it is just a really bad call. At that point yeah you send pressure, but the best play would have been to send the blitz have a saftey deep and drop one or two LBs into middle zones to prevent the slant or middle pass.

That's just it. They put the players in a position to lose with this call. When the opposing QB is in shotgun (with max protect, no less), players are bucking the odds trying to execute an all-out blitz. If he's not in the shotgun, their odds go up, but it's still a tough spot in which to be placed.

Yes I want them to continue to lose .... not only because of the draft position but mainly because I and most other fans dont want to see the current coaching staff with ANY chance to return next season .... I dont think I could stand another season of watching Capers attempt to catch flies on the sidelines ...If the best way to rid ourselves of this staff is to lose ... so be it ..... What happens when they win the resof of this seasons games ? I dont want to find out !

Play Calling is more or less a chess match .... Capers and Fangio lost this time as they have the majority of the season . Had they come up with a sack , Int or even enough pressure to force an incompletion we wouldnt be having this conversation . We would probably be complaining that they won .... and that Capers had just saved his job

Read the sig ..... :goodnight

As we have all failed to point out ....

CC.Brown was at Free Safety for this game replacing the suspended M.Coleman (Violation of team policy).... the FS position is generally the QB of the defense , Its his job to make adjustments based on the offensive formation .... Having a rookie in this situation was a dissaster waiting to happen. If there was a more experienced player at the position quite possibly he would have changed the play .

IT was good call considering the field position, time, and coverage. Our secondary was once again exposed for the ineptitude. Every player had a man to cover and CC just can not cover, he's one of the weakest links on our 3-4 defense, it's been shown too many times before. He could tackle much less cover his man.

Yes he didn't cover him well, but who put our safety (probably the slowest guy in our defensive backfield at that point in time) on their fastest receiver? At that field position you should have at least left a LB in a short zone coverage over the middle to take away that quick slant pass, which is the #1 thing that will kill a blitz. We should have all-out blitzed much farther back down field when they had to take the ball 50+ yards to get into field goal range rather than when they only needed 10 yards.

"They had [Todd] Heap up the field [on a play earlier in the drive for a 24-yard gain] when we were playing a more conservative defense," Houston coach Dom Capers said. "We didn't want to give them another ball up the middle of the field against the zone, so we decided to go ahead and max blitz them and they made the play against the max blitz. When you're in a blitz situation, you going to live by the sword and die by the sword."

At least that's the spunk we've been screaming and shouting for, we got it, but it's not always the "right" choice. I like the call, but the TO before was.... not smart :)

The timeout was more of a fubar than the call IMO. Gave the Ravens time to regroup. Probably shouldn't have been the ALL out blitz, but a blitz none the less IMO, IF there isn't a timeout. After the time out fiasco, they should have played it to keep it in front of them.

ok so you agree with me then...

What exactly are we agreeing to ?

Not sure I follow

I do know that we piss and moan when they dont play agressively and now that they do we are still pissing and moaning ... :goodnight
