Now on to the hardest time of the year...

Well the draft is behind us and I am psyched... I can't wait to see those guys hit the field and show us, what they can do. Problem is: this is still months away.

I never really have a problem with the time after the Super Bowl - with all the football of the previous months a little break is alright. But after the draft with all the excitement having to wait about half a year to the next meaningful game, that is brutal..

So, how are you gonna make that time as a football fan bearable?

Yup, this is the real dead spot, the stretch of May thru July until TC begins in August.

Ya it kinda sucks. We get a bit of info with the mini-camps but there is no hitting so it's limited. Then it really gets totally dead for about 8 weeks before camp comes and then it's all good again. Those 8 weeks are the worst. I need a fix.

Hello, I'm Porky and I'm a football addict. I hope I came to the right place. Is this FAA? (Football addicts anonymous)

The day after the Super Bowl until draft day is like driving from Houston to Austin. From draft day to the first pre-season game is like driving through west Texas to El Paso.

Wasn't there supposed to be a spring league this year? I notice Arena football is back, but I'm not really interested in that kind of football unless Houston has a team.

I watch the occasional hockey game, I watch the first half of the baseball season and then back away after the allstar break because it's USUALLY when the Dodgers start to crumble. But mostly go for walks in the park, read books, (occasionally attempt to write one) and keep my skates sharp and hit the ice whenever I can.

Well I am married with three kids so time is generally something I lack anyway so it'll pass soon enough for me. I'll watch basketball because it will last into June and then it's on to training my son for the upcoming high school season and see about my brother's training for the coming college season as well. So that'll keep me plenty busy.

This is actually a very busy time for me.
There are tons of game tapes on these guys to watch, especially with all the UDFA signings.
I'd like to have a feel for these guys before TC if possible.

Hello Porky. Good to have you aboard.

My name is ObsiWan and I will be replacing my usual and customary source of anger and frustration, (often accompanied by drinking) that is NFL football, with my other, only slightly less (verrrry slightly-less) effective, source of anger and frustration (also accompanied by drinking) known as Golf.

I am going to give myself a month off (in my off time I am still working) to relax from drat related activity. Then, I am going to begin getting ready for the 2014 draft!

I actually don't mind this time of year. Summer is almost here and I can go and enjoy my favorite outdoor activities. Time to do some hiking and kayaking. Hoping to learn windsurfing as well. If I need some sports in my life, at least the NBA playoffs are going on until June. Between July and September though, it's dull. It would be more bearable if Houston had a decent baseball team.
