STRENGTHS: Good height and length for the position, matching up well physically with WRs…aggressive run defender, filling lanes hard and throwing his body around on tackle attempts…foot quickness to mirror the actions of the WR and play tight coverage…nice job reading the eyes of the QB and not afraid to come off his man to make a play, driving fast and furiously…good ballskills and confidence, working hard to get his hands on the ball with 8 INTs and 20 passes defended over his career.
WEAKNESSES: Lacks a natural feel deep and needs to do a better job locating, gaining position and playing the ball…room to improve his timing and cover technique, playing too undisciplined and hands-on…needs to understand situations better, often giving up too much cushion, lacking necessary make-up speed to recover…too much of a hitter and doesn’t always wrap up…bites too easily on fakes and plays wild, allowing big plays…lean frame and battled several shoulder stingers in 2012.
SUMMARY: Looks the part with good height and length, but lacks great muscle definition and is too much of an ankle biter, struggling to always wrap up…attracted too many penalties in college, everything from pass interference to facemasks to roughing calls…aggressive with good-enough speed, but not overly fluid in man coverage…too undisciplined at this point in his career to be dependable against NFL competition, but worth late round consideration to groom as a reserve DB.
