Blake

MMQB
In this senario the Texans trade out of the #1 pick, down to #6 with Arizona, for their #1 this year, #1 next year, and 2nd round this year.

The Texans turn around and trade back up into the first round with the extra 2nd, and next years 3rd.

Note: Texans Are switching to a 4-3. Coleman, Hollings, Wand, Bradford, Banks, Riley, Breuner, McKinney, Sanders are released.

Round 1: #6 Overall: Eric Winston LT Miami.
Round 1: #25 Overall: Rodrique Wright DT Texas.
Round 2: #33 Overall: Darnell Bing S USC
Round 3: #65 Overall: Dominique Byrd TE USC
Round 3: #70 Overall: Cedric Griffin CB Texas
Round 4: #97 Overall: DonTrell Moore RB New Mexico
Round 5: #129 Overall: Matt Lentz OG Michigan
Round 6: #161 Overall: Paul Pinegar QB Fresno State
Round 7: #193 Overall: Pierre Woods OLB Michigan

looks good, I see now how you made it work. I'm not sure we need to trade up for Wright with Orien Harris rated pretty close and still there when we pick in the 2nd. so I would prefeer to grab Davin Joseph via trading up into the 1st that would make me very happy :)

Why would the Texans draft another DT? Every DLmen they have now is a DT and going to a 4-3 would be competing for two spots. Walker and Johnson might play LDE, but still a RDE would make more sense. Also, why in Hades would they draft another RB?

Any particular reason? Or just overall unhappy with the outcome?

Well one thing is that it is kind of hard to judge a draft outcome when you don't see who is available when they have their pick. Rod Wright is a great player and probably would be a good addition to the team, but I would rather have a Marcedes Lewis, Vernon Davis, or Leonard Pope with our second first round pick. Then I would pick Jean Gilles with the 33rd overall and completely solidify our line.

Not sure I see the point in Rod Wright if we switch to a 4-3. I doubt we need to go RB in the fourth I would think we would go after some LBs higher. Likely Ahmad Brooks or Rocky McIntosh. Dont see a pass rushing end on this list either which would make for a bad 4-3. Byrd wont last till the third there is also no need to get another QB. You are waiting to long to get an interior lineman unless we picked up a good one in FA. You did take the time on it and that is commendable, but it is not likely and I would be fine with the first two picks, but after that it is very unlikely.

Ok I will take it round by round.

Round 1: #6 Overall: Eric Winston LT Miami
You have us taking Winston at 6. I like it, You have us taking the biggest need position and a verstaile one at that. I am undecided who i prefer between Dbrickshaw and Winston at the moment.

Round 1: #25 Overall: Rodrique Wright DT Texas.
Interesting choice. I personally project him to go higher(somewhere around 12-15), but i think it would be a good choice. In a 4-3, we could put walker,Payne, TJ, and Smith out there, but where would Rod go? Do we drop one of the older bulls for a younger one? Also can Babin swith into a DT in a 4-3? Who else might be available at this position? I might consider jumping and taking Max Jean-Gilles at soldifying our line. Interesting choice.

Round 2: #33 Overall: Darnell Bing S USC
I really like this pick. I really do. This is part of the reason i would take Gilles in rd 1 is becuase of this guy. LOVE THIS PICK.

Round 3: #65 Overall: Dominique Byrd TE USC
I can see why you went this way. But I would go with Cedric Griffin CB Texas. I really like your pick, i ust think CB is a position we need to upgrade.

Round 3: #70 Overall: Cedric Griffin CB
Well, well, well, look at that! You had Griffin going 5 spots later. Ok. Here I would like A.J. Nicholson, LB Florida State. This is a man who can play LB. he is tough, he is strong, and he is overlooked. You made a solid pick, cant complain if we took CG here.

Round 4: #97 Overall: DonTrell Moore RB New Mexico
Hmm. I take Joel Klopfenstein, TE here. Maybe Kloppy is gone, but maybe a TE would be good here. Honestly I do not know Moore, so i cannot comment on this pick.

Round 5: #129 Overall: Matt Lentz OG Michigan
Round 6: #161 Overall: Paul Pinegar QB Fresno State
Round 7: #193 Overall: Pierre Woods OLB Michigan[/QUOTE]

I am gonna group these three together. Lentz=excellent pick in my mind. We get the other guard we need. So our new line looks like this: Winston, Lentz, Hog, Glles, Pitts. Thats a young line but a good lookin line. We could even put Pitts at LT and Winston at right to start. This line would have a lot of versatility, which is a good thing. This 5th round pick of yours is excellent.

So overall I like what you hve done. I might disagree with a few picks, but i think it is well thought out.
This is a solid draft.

looking this over i'll try to do a round by round analysis like others:

1: great value, great pick, great talent.
1b: would be a very stupid pick on our part. We would just have two TJ: a DT who shows glimpses, but never actually produces enough to warent his spot. He should have come out last year though.
2: Excelent pick, best actual safty in the draft, while he shouldnt be here, i would even pass on dwayne slay later in the draft. however my ideal draft has ahmad brooks falling to the second for us.
3: We dont use the TE, so its a moot point. If were were to select a TE here, i like the pick.
3b: Dwayne slay if we didnt get bing, rocky mcintosh if we did
4: very bad pick, i dont care if he is reggie bush or whoever, if they play RB, we dont draft them. I would take Luiti, RG, from USC here.
5. Matt lentz is a great value pick, and an excelent player. Just one more piece to our O-line puzzle.
6. why? to update carr on fresno? we dont need a QB, even with banks gone. we can just sign an undrafted FA or a veteren to be #3.
7: this would make me giddy. underrated kid with good heart, sp player at first, surprise off the bench. the only LB's on our team who would be better than this 7th round pick: wong, on IR.

updated o-line: Pitts, Lentz, Hodgen, Luiti, Winston
