Actually, Maryland’s new turtle-themed helmets are supposed to look like that

Maryland made plenty of … let's say, interesting decisions about its new uniforms, beginning with the mock fashion show it put on Monday night for assorted media and boosters to unveil roughly half of the 32 possible combinations of black, white, red and yellow at the Terrapins' disposal this fall. I'm down with the Black-Black-Red, Black-Black-Yellow and Black-Red-Black (above) looks, personally, although I kind of liked it better when Grambling did it. (See a full photo gallery here.)

Actually, Maryland has already employed most of those combinations and maybe a few more in the course of more than a dozen redesigns over the last 50 years, although never all of them at once. But wait a second, can we get a closer look at that white helmet?

TCU did this with the helmets this year, too. There is a pattern to replicate the horned frog scales. It is awesome up close!

I'm watching the Miami-Maryland game on ESPN. Those Maryland uni's/helmets are........interesting.

People in Oregon are going "those are some trippin uni's." It looks like the state flag sneezed on them.

32 possible combinations...Mrs. AT heard the uniform story and has went stupid about oh 32 times.

As UMD guy and a resident, I'm thinking of moving to FL.

Looks like Lady GaGa and Ed Hardy threw up on those uniforms horrible!

have you seen the shoes, I would rather play in rental bowling shoes. We need a smiles dressed in the uniform meaning grotesque.

I was thiking about and if your school does not have one the classic uniforms and/or logos, why not do something different. For the most part what type schools are doing this: ones with shaky at best football histories: Oregon. TCU, Maryland. Nobody really remembers anything about thier logos or uniforms, so strking into the innovative, but ugly unknown gives them something of a signature look(s).

I am confused. I see that turtle shell helmet and heard people talking about it however when I turned on the game they were wearing those gawd aweful Maryland flag helmets as posted in that picture above. When did they wear the turtle helmet?

They have multiple helmets. The flag, a black version with the flag stripe, that turtle version with flag stripe, something else I am trying to put out of my mind.

OK, so they have not wore the turtle thing yet? They wore the Maryland flag thing the other night, unless they wore the turtle thing in the first half. I tuned in during the second half.

BTW, this uniform stuff is ridiculous. As someone posted above by doing this you are admitting that your school has no football tradition.

I heard that they will have a different uniform for each game. Something under armor did
