Kurt Warner and those WRs will pick this defense apart. We let a relatively unknown guy in his first game rip us to shreds, what will we do with a former league MVP?

plus the 49ers still atleast put up a fight on sundays, they've had some good games lately, they took seattle to the brink. Also as of right now the Jets are beating the saints.

If we'd stop running so many soft zone coverages, especially on 3rd downs, then we could stop someone like we were doing in the first half today.

Come on lets not get ahead of ourselves WE LOST TO THE RAMS!!!!! sry 4 caps but its just bothering me pls let me fume. We will have the #1 pick i unless something dramatic happens and soon

Yeah I see us winning one more. Thats about the most I see from this team. If you cant hold a 21 point lead against a 7th rounder from Harvard then you wont beat many teams. San Fran has a stout D, Arizona can score points when they feel like it Jacksonville is gonna destroy us for sweeping them last year and the Oilers will beat us too. But we will beat Baltimore. I think...:fishing:

In case you haven't seen the stats the 49ers have the worst defense in the entire NFL. (32nd in total yards allowed, 31st in yards per play, 30th in points allowed)

the stats also mention that the 49er's offense is rated dead last in total offense 217.5 yds per game with the Texans nipping at their heels 237.6. which you should conclude that if the offense is pathetic it puts excessive pressure on the defense, that intra-relationship tells the rest of the story.

Ok lets look at this game by game:

1.Baltimore
why we could win: Baltimore has a offenisve that has been anemic this season.
Why we could ose:Baltimore will pound Jamal Anderson on our D all game.
prediction: we lose

Tennessee
why we could win: Tennesee is an allright team. Their D nor their O is especially terrifying
why we could lose: Steve McNair still has game.
prediction: we lose

Dec 18 Arizona
why we could win: Arizona has no running game whatsoever. If we can cover the wrs, we can force them into long fg attempts.
why we could lose: the Arizona wrs are Boldin and Fitzgerald: two letgit playmakers. The Arizona fg kicker is Rackers, the kicker who has the most points in the league.
prediction: we lose

Dec 24 Jacksonville
why we could win: Jax is on the cusp of the playoffs and might be overconfdent going in like last year.
why we could lose: this aint your daddy's texans. Well, atually they are, but the point is the Texans D last year was stronger then it is this year. The Jax D is also quite Stout.
Prediction: We lose

Jan 1 @San Francisco
Why we could win: SF will likely have Alex smith back. The 49er O and D with Smith in is rated dead last.
Why we could lose: The 49ers have hung tough with some strong teams this year.
Prediction: we win.

So there you go: conservative estimate is a 2 win season.

I think you mean Jamal Lewis for Baltimore, and I also expect us to win more than one game.

Very true, a good defense that gets off the field and gives its offense more possessions and better field position will help the offense, while a good offense that will stay on the field and not force its defense to play too many possessions and help out on field position will help the defense. Some years in the past our defense has been pretty good but the offense has been bad, while other years our offense has been pretty good but the defense was bad, and this year both have been pretty bad. Total defense and total offense statistics definitely have an impact on each other.

As big as the win would have been for the Texans' confidence (going into the third quarter, it looked like an old-fashioned butt-whipping), I think the loss in OT is just as bad for their confidence. For that reason, I predict the Texans slipping into old form (as in the rest of the season before the Rams game) and losing out. I don't see us beating Tennessee in Tennessee if we can't beat them here. If Byron is out, we might have a chance at Jax. Really, though, our best chances (and in no way am I saying a guaranteed win) are Baltimore and Arizona. San Fran will be the last game of the season in their home territory, and we are just about as lousy a team as they are. It ought to be a real ugly slugfest.

It really depends on how we play for the rest of the season.
We could win all of our games for the rest of the season just as easy as we could lose the rest.I say we only win 2 more however.

I think we are being to pessimistic here folks (or too hopeful for some of you....not sure which side i'm on yet).

I don't see any reason we couldn't run the table against the rest of these teams.

Arizona beat St. Louis and we lost to them so not at all sure we will beat them.

B-more well Ed Reed probably has more touchdowns than our offense.

They suffer from an offense that is pathetic. Their D plays for 49 minuets a game so their stats look bad. Their D plays better than the stats say.

well the last game, i could see us putting ragone in in order to shut up the carr haters AND get the first round pick.

As well we DO have the worst record and that in fact will boost the moral of the other bad teams that they should and will beat us...

Yes, I did mean Jamal Lewis. I had a brain fart and channeled one of my favorite back on Techmo Superbowl: Jamal Anderson.

Lord, please don't let us go 1-11, only to win 3 out of the last 4 against bad teams. That's horrible. I say the next time Capers pulls off a win, he should be fired. :tv:

I wouldn't worry about it. This team is much worse than they played last week. Jamal Lewis will run all over us like every other runningback in the league. The Ravens will sack Carr 5 or 6 times. Kurt Warner will exploit our cornerbacks with his two book end receivers like every other quarterback in the league. Steve McNair will have somewhere between 300 and 400 yards passing and either Travis Henry or Chris Brown (maybe both) will have 100 yards rushing. Finally Alex Smith will have his break out performance and Brandon Lloyd will have around 5 spectacular catches over Phillip Buchanon.

But even if we do win against SF and have the second pick, I still think we could get Reggie Bush if we wanted. I don't believe the Niners want the first pick. They are still in cap trouble and probably don't want to pay for the pick. They will probably do the smart thing and trade down for multiple picks because they need to fill many areas. The Saints or some other team in need of a QB will trade for the #1 pick and draft Matt Leinart. Then for 5 minutes we will have the great Bush v. Ferguson debate which will end up with half of the board completely pissed off regardless of the outcome.

San Fran will draft Bush unless Arizona or another team dropped pots of gold fom the heavens to trade up. They need a threat and an offensive weapon. However they will beat us and Arizona so its moot.

Philip Buchanon is on IR and is done for the year, and I don't really agree with your predictions for the upcoming games but there's no reason to argue those rather than waiting to see how they play out.

The Texans are actually in a good situation. Would anyone really be upset if they had to settle for D'Brickinshaw Ferguson?

I would. If we are going to "settle" for an elite OL, I'd prefer to get Eric Winston. I think he is a more versatile and complete OL and we could likely trade farther down in the draft to get him and get more/better picks as well.
