Come on they just fired Steve Marriuchi, can we please fire Capers, are they saying they are happier with their 1-10 season than the lions?

Bob McNair made mistake number one by hiring that duo from day one. First u have a defensive specialist in Capers along with duh Charlie GM. The Boselli debacle should have been reason enuff to run them out of town. Capers was supposed to resurrect his 3-4 defense here. First draft pick David Carr. I`m not knocking Carr but Joe Montana was taken in the third round. The brainiacs should have built a defense that sported fangs and sorted fired. Can we name the Last Super Bowl winner with a mediocre defense. The first year should have been the foundation of the new House of Pain. Instead we have a franchise QB. HAHA funny How many Franchise QBs won a Super Bowl Now we are stuck with a lemon and everybody gets to drive our Carr

Why would you want to do that? If we implement an interim staff we might do something stupid like start winning. The only thing to look forward to in this miserable season is that there are only 5 games left. The draft and house cleaning to follow will be much more exciting to watch.

David Carr woke up this morning to an answered prayer. A West-coast offense coach is now available. Now that there is a decent coach out there, I look for Capers to be gone any day now.

That debacle yesterday was about as pathetic as I have seen.

Just stop for a second and think of what you are suggesting jacquescas. Look at the title of the thread you started and consider the ramifications of what you are asking the Texans to do.

Now don't take this the wrong way but...

ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND?

What would possess anyone to want to follow any kind of example set by the Detroit Lions. This team has won one playoff game since 1957! They are so consistently wrong in everything they do that if they decide to do something (like fire their coach mid-season) that should serve as a warning to everyone else thinking of doing that same thing to stop and reconsider their decision.

If the Lions are doing it then it's probably a bad idea... whatever it is ;)

Lion's are FUBAR due to McMillen, not Mooch

Pat Hill has the right attitude for this team, he'll play anyone, and take it to them. Its a winning attitude.

Not that I harbor any ill feelings toward Capers, but given that replacing Capers this season won't accomplish anything, I'd just as soon this season go on his record in full.

well looking at the rest of our schedule.. we need to sabotage ourselves somehow..otherwise we may lose the 1st pick.

McNair should fire everyone and hire some of the more vocal fools on this board as the new coaching staff. They will make sure we dont get another win this season.

Honestly though..id love to see us play more people off the bench.. see what we have for next season ..but nooooooo..that would be sacrilage.

Looks like his winning attitude went far against the Wolfpack of Nevada Reno.

If we are going to keep Casserly I'd fire Capers now and get on with looking at the kids for the future, and to show everyone that we are now looking forward and give permission to Casserly to start to find a new beginning. If we are going to fire Casserly I'd think that we will keep Capers and do them together at the end of the season in one big clean sweep.

I just want a firing to show that some kind of change is going to happen. I think we as fans deserve that because you gotta give us a reason to hope for next year.

McNair commented before the season that if the Texans did not continue to improve he would make major changes.

He must get rid of Capers & Casserly if he is going to have this team move in a positive direction.

McNair is a good businessman & I believe he will take the steps to get rid of these two plus others.

If he doesn't, I will be very dissappointed. :crying: :crying: :brickwall :brickwall

Now, don't everybody scream at once here - but this is an idea. Marriuchi's win record over 9 years is 52% including 7 post season games (ok, he lost 4, but that is a detail). Capers, on the other hand, in his 7 years experience has a 38% win record. How about we pick up old Steve as an interim coach, get rid of Capers so we don't have to hear the word execute anymore and see what happens. For sure it won't be worse and we'd probably still get the first draft pick. Think about it. :hmmm:

Mariucci has always been a cheerleader to me. This team does not need that. McNair has built a very attractive franchise that should warrant a prospective coach and GM that have tasted success in the post season.

I'm in agreement with the others. Firing Capers now (while carthartic) serves no real purpose. Instead, wait until January 2nd or 3rd and make the announcement. Fire both Casserly and Capers and his staff. If the new coach wants to bring any of them back more power to him, but I doubt it.

I'd take the 3 stooges right now to coach this team over the staff we have - its obvious changes will be coming - its just a matter of when. I can imagine Mr. Mcnair isnt getting a whole lot of good vibes or good press around town especially this Holiday season and coupled with how bad the team is performing you have to think a smart business man would have a plan for the changes allready in hand - keep a straight face to everyone and then fire them all when its over for their OTJ performance.

Vinny it has taken you along time to get to what I have been saying, but I appreciate your previous statement of firing Capers and get Casserly going on the next round and playing some of our young players more. A number of them have shown talent only to be benched when they thought the regular player might be ready. There were a number of younger players who played well at the end of year 2 who were forgotten and relegated to never never land starting year 3. As you know I favor keeping Marciano and canning everyone else on this staff. I still think we have a wealth of untrainned talent that is being used and abused literally by this staff. There isn't a player on this staff that hasn't gone downhill because of the coaching received while being a Texan. AJ, DROB, Carr, DD, and I will say WAND have suffered tremendously under the tuitorage of this staff. I want the coaches gone so the healing can begin.

That was my quote, not Vinny's.

Your right you both have the same avitar. Soory, but he was the previous as I stated. We are all frustrated and its kind of nice to see most have come to the same conclusion for what it is worth........

I think Mariucci's firing will create a buzz for McNair that he will have to address. Mariucci did well with the 49ers who plunged into the dismal state they are in immediately following his departure. He did not do anything great with the Lions; however, he had maybe the worst GM in the league running things. Of course I'd stack our GM up against theirs for the worst any day.

What this does is make a head coach with an overall winning record available today who might be picked up quickly if anything as an OC by somebody else. It has started the year-end motion of coaches in motion. There are lots of cruddy teams and offenses out there that don't have a shot at anything this year who might want him. New Orleans, Minnesota, Baltimore, even Tennessee are thought to be looking to make a move in addition to us. If McNair even wonders how we'd look under Mariucci, I think I we will hear something in the near future about it. He's either going to say something like he did about TO that we are in no way interested, or we'll see them talking.

OK, the Lions were the first team to give their coach the axe. The Lions have the 27th ranked offense and the 14th ranked defense in the NFL. They are 4-7 and NOT 1-10, yet the "power's that be" from the Lions decided a new coach was needed. I find it amazing that after the texans are 1-10 the only person that has been fired is the offensive coordinator. When will our "power's that be" decide to switch coaches and try to salvage whats left of our dignity.....Maybe they'll wait until the fans riot or just stop going completely..... :fight:

The "Powers that be" from the Lions amounts to Matt Millen and he couldn't manage a Baskin & Robbins if you gave him one much less an NFL team. The Lions coach is out the door because Millen will continue to survive only as long as he can keep ownership convinced that the problem is with the coach (and of course focused on something other than the fact that Millen hired the coach).

Just because the Lions have done it that's no reason we should too. In fact the Detroit Lions sole purpose on this earth may just be to serve as a warning to other teams.

OK, you fire Capers now and who is acting as HC next week? Please give a name. Someone else on the Capers staff? If you answered yes, then I ask why? They are ALL going to be let go after the season, why go through the trouble of giving someone an interim job who isn't going to be here next season?

Besides, I think McNair made a deal with Jimmy Johnson to keep Capers for the season so that JJ is guaranteed the #1 pick to start his tenure here.
