Andre Johnson finally utilized.

Amazing what can happen when we actually throw the ball...

We should do this every game instead of trying to run the ball or dump off passes to the rb....
 
I think we've noticed the pass protection getting better the past few games, but due to scheme, Carr was still getting the ball out in 2 seconds. I think they decided to try and take advantage of the extra protection this game and the results were pretty good. Some of it is because the Rams defense is as pathetic as ours, but you have to give some credit to the offense, both players and coaches.
 
It is apparent that Pendry is adding more plays to every game. For example, on the TD pass to DD I have not seen that play all year.

Protection was good and Carr actualy evaded a couple of would be tacklers in the pocket, except when the game was on the line.

It always helps when the defense covers a running back in a pattern with a defensive lineman. :penalty:
 
We played one of the worst pass defenses in the league. It looked good, but in reality it wasn't that great of an accomplishment. I did however see the WR's make some plays for a change, something that has been sorely missed in this offense. Example. The play was a bootleg to the right and Carr was running and point for his reciever (Johnson) to get open. Normally our WR's would quit on the play and just watch Carr run out of bounds...behind the line of scrimmage mind you. But in this case, AJ actually moved to get open to catch the ball. Great adjustments, I wish we could get more of these.
 
Rams were in man coverage alot. Not to take anything away from Andre, but their corners are not exactly the best in the biz.

I agree, Bradofrd did the same for the TD.
 
I still feel this receiving unit has alot to learn and has never benifited from the likes of a real veteran WR. If they did they would learn to break off patterns more during times Carr is getting hurried and learn to come back to the ball better.

Does anyone know how Gaff did or has been doing since Johnson has been on the field?
 
I did see the Rams move more to a zone coverage in the 2nd half, they adjusted, we didn't. Another knock on this team is that they just can't adjust as the game progresses.

The coaches actually called pass plays, and it yeilded the most points of the year. AJ and Carr went well together.
 
The best thing is 17 targets! Thats about as many catches as he had the first 3 games! You have to wonder why we dont try this more often. Hopefully we can continue getting him the ball.
 
While I'm proud of our offensive unit's performance, I think we need to keep it in check. Yesterday was more of a testament to how bad the Rams defense is than anything. If our offense can consistently play like that through a few games, then we'll have something to hang our hat on.

Yup, you have to wonder. It's almost like they went in at halftime and decided what could be the worst thing they could do and did that. Seems like they play the guys that don't make plays and call the plays that most folks know won't work. They have success with something and then INTENTIONALY move away from it by trying to sit on a lead. Capers plan is to keep it close and win it in the 4th. Well he got it close in the 4th. Guess he didn't count on the Rams overwhelming our brickwall of a defense.

I second that motion....and we still lost. At least Pendry will open things up when it's painfully obvious that it will be succussfull.
