Great lunch with @YaoMing today. Have a feeling he could knock down a pass or two... pic.twitter.com/1j48zpTk

That is one giant man, jeez. Watt is 6'6", I think? And 285ish lbs? He looks small in both height and width next to Ming. Just ... wow.

I think Yao was genetically altered by the Chinese.
My Mother says that there are a bunch of big ol Russian hybrids up there in Northern China...so she's convinced he has some giant Russian genes on his DNA strand.

Y'all haven't seen when the Chinese had an 8'2 and 8'1 on their basketball team. They can't move a lick, but they never had to leave their feet off the ground to put the ball in the basket. (I don't think they were allowed to dunk back then, but even if it was allowed, I'm not sure they can have much success with it.)

I think it was the 1980 Olympics.
The problem was they were big and tall, but they played small and short.
They can't get close to the basket hardly.
But when they did, like I said, they didn't have to leave their feet to put the ball in the basket (and they didn't).

Nobody paid much attention because they never won anything, but those guys were way up there, they would have made Yao look like a midget. They weren't skinny like Ralph Sampson either, but they weren't big. They looked proportionate for their size, but they were just too too slow.

Man, that's crazy to see someone make JJ look like the average dude.

My oldest son is 6'10', around 320 lbs. right now. So his height would be in between these two cats. 5" taller than JJ, but still 8" shorter than Yao. I'd love to see a pic with the three of them, because he's the one that usually towers. He's also a huge fan of JJ.

Who was the tallest player to ever play in the NFL?

Jonathan Ogden and Ed "Too Tall" Jones were both 6' 9". Ed was what Mario was supposed to be. Played to 38 years old.

I guess the technical answer is Richard Sligh who was 7' but he basically had no NFL career.

Who was the tallest player to ever play in the NFL?

Back in the late '60's/early 70's, the Chiefs had a reserve tight end by the name of Morris Stroud who went 6' 10". Not a stellar career, but he did win a ring and he played in almost every game over a 5-year stretch. Got his autograph once at a department store in KC.

.

Man do come from a long line of Sequioa's? That could be his wrasslin' name, I'll be happy to be his manager I'll be 'El Landscaper'.

I saw Yao in person recently and thank goodness I was far enough away to stare in amazement without being noticed. He was not head and shoulders above the rest, he was head and chest above the rest. Not only is he a giant in height, but also in size. Joking of course, but he seems to stand as tall as Big Tex at the Dallas Fair.

I am 6'3" and just over 300...

I'd like to see how I measure up to the Wattster!
