Did anyone see this? Found it on the Pats board.

Twitter

Ravens dismissed offensive coordinator Cam Cameron and replaced him with quarterbacks coach Jim Caldwell.

I mean...... damn. I thought they were in trouble, but this is like switching QBs mid season when you've got a Super Bowl contending team.

Doesn't make sense.

& then Cladwell? REally?

Really?

Man they got too much talent on the offensive side of the ball to put it into capable hands.

Hope they keep Caldwell for a few years.

And caldwell has never called plays before

Cameron's offense was wildly uneven this season, like much of his tenure in Baltimore. But we're still stunned at the timing of the decision. The Ravens are 9-4 despite their two-game losing streak, and they hold a two-game lead in the AFC North. Baltimore put up 28 points during Sunday's loss to the Washington Redskins, and it was their defense that couldn't hold on to a lead late. Caldwell has never been a coordinator before, although he has been a head coach. He also hasn't called plays in the NFL.

The Harbaugh's are schmucks. Neither will ever win a Championship unless they get their emotions under control.

Something was up with Cam -- too much talent on that offense to have so many poor production games.

The Ravens will be lucky to win another game this season.

Broncos - Peyton Manning vs. their weakened defense
Giants - Eli Manning vs. their weakened defense (plus "Lightning Bolt" Wilson)
@Bengals - The kitties will be hungry for a playoff berth against a bitter rival

You'd gotta handed to Harbaugh brothers. They don't hesitate when it comes to make their teams better. Cam canned in Baltimore and Alex Smith been replaced in SF. And these brothers both ended up in SB.

I wonder if Harbaugh let Cam call all of the plays and never override him? Cam was criticized for never running the ball enough, but doesn't the head coach have to take some of blame for that?

Whispers are the owner pressured this move. Cameron was one of Harbaugh's best friends. But his playcalling was risk averse at times and bizarre at others when Ray Rice would disappear from the game plan.

So what was the problem with Alex Smith really? I mean they were winning.

Smith was concussed & Kaepernick dominated the then vaunted Bears defense on the way to a 32-7 MNF rout.

Kaepernick adds dimensions to the game that Smith never could. Kaepernick stretches the field with his arm, can evade the rush, and can break a big run. Defenses are forced to keep a spy on Kaepernick.

Too much had to go right for the 49ers to win with Alex Smith. The run game, pass protection, the receivers have to get open quick, the defense have to dominate, & ST has to win field position. And Alex Smith did not have the ability to help any of those areas if they were struggling.

Throw Kaepernick in there & he'll rip off 181 yards on the ground to open up the running game, he'll extend plays to help the receivers get open & make it easier on the pass pro, then he'll pick up third downs & keep the chains moving to negate poor field position & give the defense time to rest.

It's not just the mobile QBs that are able to do that. Schaub was able to keep the chains moving & led this team to plenty of 80+ yard drives. He just hasn't done much of that this year, imo waiting for the rest of the team to step up.

But you can't wait, when the ball's in your hands, you've got to do something now.

Do you mean winners/Leaders that are willing to take chances like changing QB's/OC's at the end of the season so they have the best chance to win a SB?

Making tough, sometimes unpopular choices are what leaders do. They usually put their all into what they do and are very emotional with the results they get either good or bad, because they have so much invested.

This rubs some people who are OK with being medicore/avg the wrong way. Because those people are unwilling/unable to lay everything on the line to achieve the most success possible.

We have now discovered which camp you are in.

How big of a chance did Harbaugh take?

Jim Caldwell, who replaced Cameron, had never called plays before.

Did Harbaugh have a choice? Apparently not, as both the owner and Flacco wanted Cam gone. It worked, kudos to the Ravens.
