Official Texas & Texas A&M Thread

Longhorns missing gobs of tackles per play - obviously flat. Aggies taking it
to them. And this guy eatin em up is a third string QB ? Vince Young looks
like crap - he better forget about the Heisman and concentrating on winning
to get to Rose Bowl.

I would agree with you right now but after watching the Oklahoma State game I will reserve judgement until the game is over. Texas always seems to step it up in the second half.

Good first half by both teams. But Texas is about to show why they dominate after halftime, with gameplanning, and depth.

Texas wins, 49-31

Yeah, this is a second half team...

As a huge Texans fan, I would gladly welcome the chance to draft VY next year because he is a tremendous football player who is a world class athelete. But as a WR, not a QB. If he's serious about being an NFL QB, he
better stay at Texas another year and keep developing his passing skills, 'cause he's got a ways to go. And I normally don't feel this way, because I think most college guys ought to take the money and go pro the first good chance they get.

Wow! This has been a fun game to watch. One of the best games I have seen all year! Just goes to show ya, don't ever count the underdog out! Texas might win this game when all is said and done, but, the Agg's will make them work their butts off for it.

I think Young is another year away but this is like saying if Steve McNair came out a year earlier he would have been a running back in the NFL. It's the same player, just a year of development that is the variable.

Anyone else fed up with the upside down hook 'em hand sign from teams opposing the Longhorns? It's almost as bad as "Houston you have a problem". I mean the Aggies even have the "gig 'em" thumb. Why does every one think that the upside down horns are cool or inventive?

Oh it doesn't make me mad. If anything I feel sorry for the people who do it. If they can't come up with anything more clever than that maybe they shouldn't be trying. More than anything it just makes me  .

Say what ! If it wern't for the gifts/turnovers the Aggies are giving them,
they'd be behind. If they make it to Rose Bowl, just hope it's not a repeat
of last years SoCal vs. Big 12.

Texas Wins!

They got very lucky, because they were out played by Texas A&M.

They will have their hands full against USC.

So I have no vested interest in who wins this game, really don't even care.
I have a few opinions though:

Refs have too much impact on how this game has progressed. Aggies penalties seem to come at the right time to stifle their momentum. Coincidence? I believe in conspiricy theories. Like I've heard all my football life, you can call a penalty on almost every play, how do you decide when to call them?

Vince Young seems to be rather average when his backfield is full of defensive players and some hanging from his shoulders. Not superman after all. Even missing several receivers when under pressure. Kinda like the Texans qb...

USC is feeling much more confident now...if they weren't already.

And the biggest...I am fixing to get slammed by t-sippers.

Ohhh....By the way.....Young just lost the Heisman race today.

Im not a tea sipper or an aggie, but I agree completely. The best team didn't win today, and turnovers and terrible penalties against A&M cost them the game.

Horn fans shouldn't bash you, they should be scared on what they saw today.

why??? I am a UT fan ..but I also know this was a rivalry game where stats get thrown out the window.. Aggies did take it to them (UT today) yet again rivalry game.

Texas looked "tight" today and Young showed some strain from the Heisman / National Title race, but saying the better team didn't win isn't close to reality.

As far as USC. They have had 3 or 4 games like this (or worse..Fresno State ring a bell) this year and are VERY lucky to still be undefeated. This is the ONLY close game Texas has had this year. (*edit* second close game...I forgot about Ohio State)

Assuming the Horns don't try to mail in a victory in the Big 12 Championship, I feel VERY good about their chances to win the national title.

I'll give it to the Aggies..they came to play and played very well. Their QB looked great. Texas played like they were suffering from a team hangover and still won by more than a touchdown. USC has had several of these type games this year so the Horns are entitled. Hopefully it was a wake-up call for the Horns..don't overlook anybody..and they'll go on to a championship. HOOK EM!

Yep and USC had trouble with Fresno State at home. HOOK EM!

Hey boy, you better hook em on a whole lotta hope and prayer when you
go out there to Pasedena and play the Trojans. Pathetic effort against the Aggies, and I was hoping Texas & VY would play well today. On the other
hand, Capers has got to hope and pray himself that his Texans play as hard
for him as the Aggies did for their beleaguered coach.

This thread is funny. You would think the Horns got beat. They played their worse game of the year and still won by 11 and it would have been by 14 if not for a bad field goal try. A & M plays their best game of the year and still loses.

I never thought Vince walked on water and I don't imagine he needs anybody to tell him he had his poorest game of the year. He's already said he was going to come back to Texas next year. I imagine he realizes he needs more work to be a success in the NFL.

Before everybody starts mailing in the Rose Bowl, USC still has to play UCLA and Texas still has the Big 12 Championship game! "Just thought I'd throw that in there".

A couple of things.

You cant say Texas only won because aTm gave them a bunch of gifts. Look at the stats. Each team had 4 fumbles (2 lost), and 1 interception.

Young didnt even seem like he cared about the heisman today. Which may have lost it for him, but he got through the game healthy, while rarely rushing the football.

All I have to say, is that when Young meets the Trojans, he will have no problem laying it all on the line, and taking those open running lanes, that he left alone today.

I guess they are used to watching the Texans. ;)

Really, the Horns didn't play to well but still won by 11. I wish the Texans could have a ugly game and still come out victorious. It's good for the Longhorns to get this out of their system.

Just curious. When do USC and UCLA play?

The Ags future looks alright, since their QB, HB, TE, and LT are freshmen, and 3 of the other 4 OL were only sophomores. Also, 2 of their starting WR's, the replacement starting WR, and one other were injured early in the year and not in this game.

If they can hire some new defensive coaches who can teach the LB's/DB's to not leave guys wide open in the offseason, they may be dangerous real soon.

Thanks. That should be a good game. I haven't watched USC at all this year.

I turned this game on at halftime figuring it would be over already but was surprised by the score and had to watch the second half. Texas A&M played very well and UT did not respond for most of the game. Sure it is a rivalry game so A&M will play harder but I would have expected UT to up their intensity as well and they looked bad for most of the game. A&M took UT to the end of the game without their starting QB or RB, so as I've said before on here, USC by at least 21 in the Rose Bowl. I think Reggie Bush has officially won the Heisman.

One of the things to remember is that this was a road game in a very loud and frenzied arena. I think the Aggie crowd did a lot to keep their team in the game in the second half.

Also, I second the turnover ratio. Take away either team's turnovers, and it's a whole other ballgame...

Turnovers are a part of the game, an essential part at that. If a team can't take care of the ball then they are not a complete team. Piling up 600 yards of offense won't mean a thing if you turn it over in the red zone every time and can't score.

Thank you for overstating the obvious. You can go back to the bushmills now.
