Bama vs. ND

****, this ***** is over before it began. Bama up 14-0 and just recovered a fumble on the ND side of the field. Ouch.

Bama all up in ND ass.....early too....like they didn't even ask them their name, just having their way with them.

This is not at all surprising. Bama is a machine and give them a full month to prepare for a team and they will come out and dominate. ND is the biggest fraud at #1 in a decade.

Am I alone in thinking McCarron has the potential to be a really good QB in the NFL?

No, in my mock I argue that we should not take a QB this year and hope he falls to the end of the first next year. He will be a better pro than anybody in college today other than maybe Teddy Bridgewater.

I've watched him 10 games this year and last and he's a very polished QB already. He improved greatly last year to this year and does everything well we ask for in a QB in our offense.

He gets looked at as a game manager because he plays for Alabama, but he has all the physical and mental tools you need to be very successful in the NFL. My favorite thing about him is that he is always pressing the ball down the field, but he does it very smartly. He rarely turns the ball over. He has all the makings of a top tier Qb.

McCarron just made a hell of a throw! At least he's somewhat mobile. Say his potential is better than Schaub. >.<

I agree with this 100 percent. In a different system he could be putting up sick numbers but he's not asked to do that. I honestly don't see him falling out of the top 10 next year. He'd maybe be a late first this year if he were to come out.

He would be the first Qb taken if he came out now. With the success the zone read has had in the nfl this year he could fall to the late first if Manziel, Bridgewater, and Mariota all declare. Otherwise he probably goes very early. They all must declare, and if they do, we must find a way to get our new A.J.

It would be between him and Barkley, but McCarron's decision making is head and shoulders above Barkley's. Barkley probably has a slight edge in arm strength while McCarron has the edge in accuracy and pocket presence. They're pretty even in mobility, but I've seen McCarron make more throws on the run than Barkley and he can even get some first downs for you with his feet if need be.

I think McCarron is better than Barkley in all facets of the game, including arm strength. Barkley will probably not be the first Qb taken anyway. My money is on Geno Smith, and maybe Tyler Wilson to go ahead of him. Weather or not they should is another discussion.

It would be close, but you may be right. I hate Geno's pocket presence late in the season and thats a HUGE thing in the NFL. I love Tyler Wilson though, and wish he had a better senior season. But I would snatch him or McCarron up yesterday if someone told us we could get either in the second round this year.

I'm not sure how McCarron would do on a team that has far less talent than Bama' does but compared to Barkley, Smith, Wilson, and others...he's freakishly poised and can make plays happen.

If he keeps doing what he does, he can easily secure a spot as a #1 overall pick IMO.

If your a Longhorn alum that is a big time booster, you know you are sitting there thinking that canning Mack and paying Saban a million more would be totally worth it. Hell, Alabama would never be able to match Texas for Saban's services, plus he gets the great stat of Texas.

I would use whatever our first pick was on McCarron. I really like him. He the kind of young man i want my daughter to marry.

I like 4 other Qb's better than Geno Smith. He is a product of his offense, and the lack of defense in the Big 12. Vastly overrated. It would be disappointing if the Texans took him no matter the round. Horrible pocket presence, and he is bad at pre and post snap reads. Austin and Bailey got alot of yards for him after the catch on intermediate routes.

Are you sure about that? I'm sure Alabama has some very wealthy booster of their own that would pony up to keep Saban if some school tried offering him a larger contract. Alabama isn't Syracuse or Western Michigan...

I like McCarron's moxie and such, but he does not come off as more than a 2nd/3rd round guy to me.

I know alabama the state might be poor, Alabama the university especially as pertains to football can and will match anything anybody wants to throw at Saban.

No offense to you or your daughter, but I'm pretty sure little Miss Alabama has that wrapped up. WOW. Shots of her in the stands was my favorite part of this game. What a lucky guy, you get to win a national championship (2nd) and then get to go home with that bird, he's like a young Tom Brady. ;) I'm sold.

I can't agree with you here..... If you watch this guy enough you'll see there's not a single throw he can't make. I'm going to fall short of saying he reminds me of Tom Brady, but there's something about him that makes me think of Brady while watching him. Don't forget where Brady was drafted. McCarron does everything well. It's just not a sexy game because of the offense he plays in. To me he's big time underrated.

Manti Te'Who?

Man this cat went from looking like a top 7 pick to looking like a 5th round pick...

How does somebody who wins all those awards miss that many tackles?

when they're running down your throat like that, you're bound to fold up...besides, that whole defense was missing tackles..

Yeah, seriously. Teo might have just cost himself millions with that performance. Maybe the Ravens fans will get their wish and replace Ray Lewis with him after all!

There enough passing in the alabama offense that he can look sexy, if he is that kind of good. anyway, i have another season of college football to be convinced.

Just don't think a guy with Ms. alabama, 2 national titles would be messing around with a 5th year of college if he were any kind of lock at the top of draft.

I really don't understand why he isn't going into the draft this year. If I were him, I would draft this year because the QB class is so weak, he would be more likely to go in the 1st after riding all the hype of back to back NCs.

If he played in a different system. Lets go with West Vriginia's system, he would put up number's equal too or better than Geno Smith while winning more games. He is that good.

It doesn't seem so far fetched that maybe the kid grew up loving and respecting the Bama legacy. Now he is creating one of his own and he wants it to be the best. Legacy's are important to some people, Peyton, and Andrew Luck passed up being the number one pick to try and win NCAA championship's fairly recently.

Let him stay. Better for Texans. Could you imagine Jacksonville or Tennessee picking him up and we having to play him and Luck? More likely Arizona or Cleveland would get him first. I would rather hedge the bet and have him come out next year and hope a good college QB falls to us at 32. Draft order below.

I was speaking more to Mccarron's position, rather than the Texans. He seemingly would become one of the top 3 QBs in this draft with all the hype after that NC game, and could make a lot more money in 2013 than he would in 2014. Not sure his stock could get much higher next year, and he might end up in Matt Barkley's position.

I think he is helped more by playing behind a near perfect OL, with talented skill positions all over the place. If anything his flaws are hidden at alabama.

Saban is still well connected with the pros and my personal speculation is that Sabin knows the kid is not currently considered a 1st round lock and advised the family so. Not that these guys have all the answers, but i have not seen McCarren talked about being a high draft pick anywhere, but in this thread. Again, I happy to watch him next year and see if i am wrong.

I wasn't knocking your post. Yours is more intelligent, mine us more selfish.
