The 2012-13 New England Patriots just became the first team in NFL history to get back-to-back byes before advancing to the conference championship game.

Could this get any easier?

I mean, seriously? The planets are aligned and the tomato cans are in place. The fraudulent Houston Texans are the only team standing between the New England Patriots and a trip to the AFC Championship game. All the Patriots have to do is beat the terrible Texans. One week from today. At Gillette Stadium.

New England led, 21-0, after nine minutes. It was 28-0 in the fifth minute of the third quarter. It was 35-7 in the first minute of the final quarter. When it got to 42-7, both starting quarterbacks were lifted from the game.

The great J.J. Watt was a zero in that game. Then he was unavailable for comment after the game. Houston’s ever-overmatched defensive coordinator, Wade Phillips, was scratching his head, perhaps wondering why his guys were unable to cover all those Patriots wide receivers.

Phillips and head coach Gary Kubiak did what almost everybody does against the Patriots. They choked. The forget what got them to this level. They played on their heels, and let Brady carve them up like a medical school cadaver. No pressure. Total retreat. Total surrender.

Just an FYI to everyone: no one in Boston really likes Shaughnessy. "Hate" is actually the word for most.

Oh please someone send this to the Texans locker room. I'm loving the media right now. All of them calling us frauds and writing us off. Keep going we don't mind.

The Patriots did nothing Saturday. And they got exactly what they wanted.
Eh...... can't really argue anything he said. Just hope it finds its way to the locker room & we're man enough to do something about it.

If this doesn't motivate the Texans to kick some ass and get a W, I don't know what will:

This is not the same. Those Jets were not afraid of the Patriots. Those Jets had players and a coach who did not wet their pants at the sight of Bill Belichick and Tom Brady. Those Jets had attitude.

The 2012-13 Texans? Pure frauds. The worst 11-1 team in the history of the NFL. These Texans have absolutely zero chance of beating New England here next week. And everybody knows that this is true.

what douche, he spends a lot of energy disputing the jets ass whooping by builiding up the Jets and their coaching staff and disgracing the Texans.

This MUST be the Texan's battle cry.

The refs better not be pulling the PI BS, especially when the ball is not catchable.

i wish we had more writers like dan shauhnessy.

writers with balls.

Instead of the paid in full mclain and whichever lackey the only newspaper in town have.

If Shaunessy was here in Houston he'd have written something equally insulting about the Patriots & fluff up the Texans.

McClain has been pretty honest & straight about the Texans. His problem, if you knew what you were talking about, is that he has absolutely no inside information.

Hope and prayer is all you have to go on.

Jeezus, I think the mood around here would be better if we lost. It's like waiting a week until your leg is amputated.

Funny thing is Watt put brady on his ass like 8 times. Patriots have all them short ass white guys and they do little slants pick and rolls, snap the ball before the defense is ready. Dont leave much time for the D-line to get to brady.

I know the texans had sucked the last month everyone knows that, but this will not be a cake walk game for the patriots. If we would of played them in the early stage of the season when we were playing dominant football we would of crushed them. If we can get half way back to that form next sunday we will win

The guy writing the column is an idiot. When the pats werent playing their best ball they got beat by the cards, and a few other bad teams. Everyone team goes through their low point, we will get on track and beat the Pats next weekend.

Arrogance, Reflected

After spending the better part (for a writer as hacktastic as Shank, is that a contradiction in terms?) of his mediocre career lambasting players as prima donnas, owners as arrogant, and everyone else as basement trolls, The CHB has truly become that which he lives to despise.

For today, for the second time in three days and the third time in a month, The CHB calls the Texans "frauds" and says the Patriots will walk over the competition to the AFC Championship.

Who is calling who arrogant? For The CHB, whose range as a columnist runs the gamut from childish name-calling to demeaning of talent and everything in between -- and why not, since he's had a pretty lucrative run perpetrating his own fraud on the owners of the Boston Globe -- this is the epitome of his projectionism.

"The lady doth protest too much, methinks."

My tweet to that clown. Feel free to send him one as well @Dan_Shaughnessy.

I think you're mistaken me for someone else.

I believe there is ample evidence over the last three weeks that we've been getting better & back to the kind of football that had "everyone" thinking we were favorites to win the Super Bowl.

I'd have liked another week, playing someone else, before we go to play New England, but as is, I like our chances.

pancakes called the texans pretenders, and picked the bengals to win yesterday..

He wouldn't put the Texans as #1 on "his" power rankings until we were like 11-1.

I think it was since that day, that we started to nose dive. The freak'n curse of pancakes McClain.

Some more background on him: He is the one who originally coined the "Curse of the Bambino". After the Sox won in 04, they showed the Boston press box and the only one who wasn't either in tears or elated was Schaugnassey. If I remember correctly, he actually had a slightly disappointed look on his face that his claim to fame was essentially null and void.

He is now known for these types of pieces; overly extreme in one direction (positive for Boston teams or negative) to get attention for his articles. He also wrote a piece a few years back about why Cornell "deserves" to beat Kentucky in March Madness that got national attention, mainly because of how dumb the logic behind it was.

In summary, he's a hack. He has the nickname "Curly Haired Boyfriend" and "Shanks" in Boston, neither endearing in any way. If you want a real take from the Patriots side, I can link to the articles from the more respected Patriots writers later this week when they are published.

Texan-American
Think about how many times people have bitched about Belichick pouring on the points and throwing for TDs in the 4th quarter when they're up by 21+. In that Monday night game, Belichick let up. You can come up with whatever reason you think he did, but it was pretty evident to me that he let up because he knew the Texans, and especially Kubiak, had quit. That was as complete an ass whipping as I've ever witnessed in the NFL. It was not just a scoreboard defeat.

Does he wear a uniform? Is he A coach? Who cares what he thinks. We got our asses handed to us a month ago in Foxboro. They should be happy to see us.

Punch a bully in the mouth. That's the best way to shut them up.

Person in need of attention.
Dirty media.
if I'm not mistaken he already posted nonsense things before the regular-season game against the patsies...
Why did you link the article without saying "THIS IS A LINK TO THE ARTICLE"????????

I just gave this ********* loser a click and thus bumped his income. Hits is the reason he writes this.

I'm assuming that someone who is on twitter from this board, will personally send this article as a direct message to every Texans player they follow on Twitter? Thank you, and remember, you are improving our chances with your handiwork.
