Patriots ready for the Texans

I hope we go up there and avenge that embarrassing loss. We were 11-1 and were expected to be competitive and possibly win, and we lost big. Now, we are sputtering along and expected to lose, so a win would be fitting!:ant::ant:

i said it a few days ago

Ravens
CIncy
HOuston
INdy

IMO we are the only team thats stands a chance to dethrone IMO for the past 8 years the best team in the AFC im glad we get this chance WIn or lose

We can win this game. Putting pressure on Brady. A LOT of pressure. They only have Brady and recivers. The rest is garbage. Let's make a long night for him.

We are probably the best team in the NFL, barring mainly one position. Guess which one... :toropalm:

I'm not saying replacing him will be easy or can be done right away, but it's a problem if you want to win SBs.

Come on now... Cushing will be back next season. You can't expect too much out of Bradie James.

2 critical factors in this one:

1 - we can NOT fall behind big early. Gotta stuff them on 2/3 of their first drives.

2- we MUST run the ball and keep Brady off the field. Follow the 49ers gameplan, and we have to hit hard.

Also, our special teams must be impeccable.

Overall I like our chances. Seeing J Jo play in his last season form last game was huge.

We could definitely use Cushing, but I think you know I meant QB.

As much as fans like to rag on Matt Schaub, some of it warranted, a lot of our issues are NOT his fault, IMHO! I look at the sideline for the deflation of a positive attitude amongst our players. When you have half the team stomping on the field BEGGING Kubiak to let them go on a 4-1 and he settles for a field goal, then I can see why some would have a "F that" attitude. Kubiak is a gutless A-H, and that won't fly against an elite team like the Pats. Ya gotta have faith in your guys to pull it off, and it appears to me Kubiak does not have faith in MS, or in his offense, at this point in time. This will be our toughest battle this year, and if Kubes wants to hunker down and play scared, we are done!! JMO! We might get beat, but, at least go down FIGHTING!

The decisions not to go for it on 4th and 1 were both correct... this isn't college, our D was owning their O and there was no need to take a risk.

I agree with a lot that the article says but "backed into the playoffs" ? C'mon, 12-4 and beating the second place team in the division to win the division isn't "backing into the playoffs".

More like stumbling into the playoffs.

Math disagrees with you.

ALWAYS go for it there. We can't let the winning result deter us from that.

I don't actually think it's Matt's fault. It's not actually his fault he has a weak arm for an NFL QB (or that he's immobile). He just does. So do I, but nobody's counting on me either.

Advantages:

Head Coach - Pats
QB - Pats
OL - Pats
RB - Texans
WR - Push
TE - Pats

DL - Push
LB - Pats
Sec. - Texans

Special Teams, incl. K - Pats

AJ plus no one is about equal to their group of WRs, in my estimation. However, Brady + Welker + Gronk + Hernandez is better than Schaub + AJ + OD + well, no one really. Wilfork is a beast, but the Texans have Watt. Their front seven as a whole is better than the Texans front seven. If the OL can neutralize their DL often enough to get Arian Foster going, then there's a chance the Texans can get an early lead and grind the clock. But the Texans have to score TDs, not FGs. The Texans secondary is better than the Patriots, I believe, but when Brady is running what is effectively the run and shoot offense, it only matters so much. The Texans' tendency to fall prey to the play action pass to the TE in the red zone is worth keeping an eye on, because Gronkowski is not injured this game. Hernandez burned the Texans on it last time, but Gronk can do it anywhere in the end zone, not just the flats.

I hate to say it, but I predict the Patriots will win easily. If the weather is bad, that keeps the Texans in it, I believe, so I'm praying for snow.

The game was hyped as one of the best games of the year, and was one of the season’s most-watched games on Monday Night Football. But the Texans came into the game with exuding cockiness — this was the game the Texans travelled to wearing letterman’s jackets — while the Patriots came in prepared to take care of business.

I'm very surprised with this, did Texans actually exude cockiness? This strikes me as very un-Texan. Maybe this time Texans will be the ones taking care of business, one can only hope :fostering:

We could definitely use Cushing, but I think you know I meant QB.

Cushing frees up our mediocre olbs to create pressure = shutdown d meaning Schaub isn't a problem.

Not disagreeing that Schaub ain't the best, I actually started a thread before time when he went down last year...but we can win plenty with him and Cush both on the team. Bet mercilus looks better when Cush comes back too.

It's because of the fact that the defense was playing so well that would lead you to go for it inside the ten there.

They more than likely would not have moved it. They punt it back to you and you start in their territory again.

Field goals will get you beat.

Maybe he kicked field goals because we were playing the Bengals and that was what was needed to win the game?

No one is more prepared than Bellichick. He's pretty incredible in that. I like Kubiak but you dont hear stuff like this from him. Bill knows our players. I hope we come out firing on all cylinders.

From the linked article:

"Asked if he saw anything different from Houston in Saturday's wild card win that he didn't see in December, Belichick said "nothing revolutionary"

Par for the course wouldn't you say?

:coffee:

I guess he wanted the Bengals to be driving for the winning score with under 5 minutes remaining? Make no mistake, if we kick >50% field goals in the red zone next week, we won't be within two touchdowns by the fourth quarter.

Next weeks a different game all together. I'm sure Kubiak will go for it if the need arises. He's not going to do it, just to do it.

I know we're expecting to have to score 30 just to keep pace. But the Patriots have put up stinkers as well & if we lose by 3 because we passed on two field goals.... y'all will crucify the man.

Damned if you do..... you know the rest.

Let the game unfold & respond accordingly.

does anyone feel if Kjax picks up that fumble inside the 5 & either falls on it or picks it up clean & returns it for a TD it's NOT a blow out? That would have least stemmed momentum & put Texans back in the game.

so Texans need to capitalize this time around in turnover category. Bellichick used brooms :sweep: then Kubiak needs to use clubs. Antonio Smith needs to reach in his bag of tricks & teach Kareem & company ways of the ninja :ninja:

I honestly think the only play there was to pick it up clean & return it for 7. That's the only thing that would have "turned the tides"

I feel the way Schaub & the offense were playing, recovering the ball there was going to turn into a safety or a pick 6 & the spiraling & butt whup'n would have been worse.

At the time this happened, the Texans had only had one possession (which did include a first down). The Texans second possession (immediately after the resulting TD) was a 59 yard drive (granted, ending in a Schaub int). The idea that keeping 7 points off the board on New England's first possession couldn't have been beneficial to the Texans is absurd. The idea it would have made it worse is beyond absurd. Hopefully there's sarcasm in your post that I'm simply not seeing.

Pats fan here....

Actually that's exactly what SF didn't do. They didn't try to establish the run to set up the pass. They not only passed on early downs they went vertical often.

Before the first NE\HOU game I told everybody here that if Kubiak had the sack to go vertical on first down and mix up what the Pats were expecting they would win the game. If he did what he usually does they would lose and perhaps even big which happened, I never expected that big. If he follows the business as usual format barring your defense having a game for the ages and turning the Patriots over 3 or 4 times there's no chance Houston pulls the upset.

If he attempts what SF did they have a shot and a good one. Even if it doesn't work I'll give him credit for being creative and having the guts to do it. If he goes status quo you would have been better off losing to the Bengals and landing Reid. Maybe Chip Kelly can still be talked into the right NFL job and I'd consider Houston that job with all the other talent.

Let Creemed Jackson put one of those smackdowns on Welker and watch him disappear.
Sorry but that's an absurd comment. Don't you think every team for the past 6 years have thought the same thing. Yet in all those years and all those attempts at big hits, the results have been 6 years of 100+ catches and 1200+ yds receiving. '

This remark is right up there with. "we need to get pressure on Brady" for the "Keen sense of the obvious" award. ;)

You have a point but this isn't the smack talk forum. I am sure over on the Pats MB there are folks saying we need to limit Foster, AJ and JJ Watt.

Houston Texans have scored just one touchdown in their last 14 quarters. 3 1/2 games.

Good Luck in NE.

When was the last time the Ravens played well in back to back games?

How many play off teams have a 3 game loosing streak on their record?

How many teams left in the play offs have a loss to Andy Dalton & the Cincinnati Bengals?

Raise your hand if Denver beat you in the regular season....

Raise your hand if Marvin Lewis out-coached your team....

smh

We need to pop your receivers right off the line to screw up Brady's timing.........something we didn't do last game........and it contributed heavily to Brady's quick throw completions......and our downward spiral.

i sure did see brady getting off the ground alot the last time we played, Watt hit him 4-5 times. No sacks though but no RTP penalties either, if our secondary can play a little closer and cover for 1 more second (we had our 4th and 5th string CBs starting last game we played BTW) Then brady is going to have a rough rough day.

Our healthy secondary will be alot better VS yall this time even with ur porn star TE returning.

Somehow you missed the total buttkicking of the Giants in there..

How many teams left in the play offs have a loss to Andy Dalton & the Cincinnati Bengals? Div title already wrapped up- played 2nd stringers 3/4's of the game

Raise your hand if Denver beat you in the regular season.... At least our butt kicking wasn't on National TV

Raise your hand if Marvin Lewis out-coached your team.... Again, 2nd string lost that game

smh

Don't venture out of the AFC South much do you?:whistles:

Shouldn't you be worried about the Crows playing in Denver?

What, exactly, am I going to impact in Denver on Saturday by posting on Texans board? Have you been watching the Bud Light "Superstition" commercials too long?

This is a discussion board, not a nut nuzzling contest although some in here insist that it is just that.....

 Funny thing about that article...he doesn't mention that the Patriots LOST The last two Superbowls in which they played. To whom did they LOSE both of those Superbowls? I forget.
:kitten:

Everyone was delirious that Ray was back in the defense. I'm not a Ravens fan and I was psyched that he was back. Ray Lewis and Company made minced meat out of a rookie QB and last year they beat the Texans headed by a rookie back up QB and were assisted by a fumble by a certain a-hole (whom I hope broils in hell) who just haaaaaaaaapens to play for the Ravens now...coincidentally. Ray is great and the Ravens are a damn fine football team But ...and it's a big "But" as I like big buts and I cannot lie they Ravens will have to play in that thin mountain air and the while their defense is one of the best, the Broncos have a distict advantage. They have a QUARTERBACK. If it's Flacco v. EITHER Manning brother...I'm not picking Flacco.

You can make all the excuses you want, bottom line, the Ravens have their own black marks to worry about.

You can hit Brady a few more times Sunday if it means...

21 for 35, 296 yds, 4 tds, 0 ints, 125 rating.

*Kind of a long read - but involves Jim Rome, the Cablinasian, Texans, Patriots, Notre Dame.*

The Patriots are not ready for the Sean Pendergast effect aka "the Cablinasian", 5x time winner of the Jim Rome Smack-off)..

(in a Jim Rome voice) "Seany, the Cablinasian from Houston.... WHAT is UP?"

************

Anyway, Sean is originally from the northeast. He moved here years ago, but has lived in a lot places, but always came back to Houston during his travels and he and his girl are Texans fans.

OKAY.....

That said, he attended the Texans v. Patriots earlier this season. The Texans were down 21-0 at one point and lost the game 42-14..

He is a graduate of Notre Dame where his brother was a place-kicker in the 80's and know "Rudy"..... With that said he flew on his private jet (a joke) to Florida for the National Championship game where the Irish found themselves down...........

Wait for it...........

21-0

What was the final of that National Title game? 42-14

IF ANYONE SEES SEAN PENDERGAST AT ANY AIRPORT THIS WEEKEND... TACKLE HIM.. GO ETHER ATTACK IF NECESSARY, BUT BY ALL MEANS.........

DO NOT ALLOW HIM TO LEAVE THIS CITY!!!!
